Overall, the food at Tuck Kee did not disappoint and it was also very affordable. There was no 5-star service but the staff was attentive as much as they could, but once it reached peak hours, they were quite short-staffed.
The Yu Kong Hor (RM 10) really very delicious, smooth and tasty.
Though long queue, the turnover was fast and I have no complaints about their service for they are friendly and food was quick to be served.
The are reasons this place is famous: fast, affordable, simple, tasty, accessible (location and hours wise).
The price is on a steeper side considering it costs almost a dollar SGD but its still worth a try if you are in the area.
The chicken had some bite like kampong chicken and was fairly fragrant. The taugeh was plump. The fishballs were qq and tasty, and the hor fun smooth and in a savoury clear broth. Not bad.
I personally will give this place a miss as chicken rice back home is one of our unofficial national dish and most stalls can beat this place hands down.
Beansprouts and Chicken. That is probably the major dish that people come to Ipoh to eat. If you come, you have to have it.
Tapau salted chicken for tonight. It is pretty alright, though one of the chicken not quite salted properly. The size suited for 3 person.
We brought one box of salted chicken RM21.00 which consists of one nicely cooked and packed whole chicken (free-range size). Once open the paper bag, you can smell the heavy fragrant aroma of the salted chicken and herb (dong gui), pick whichever part you like and just tear it off (easily) then enjoy – well this is our way of having salted chicken! 😉
Here's the location.
这一餐花了RM28, 算是有点小贵。 撇开价钱不说, 真要挑的话个人觉得胡椒粉用量稍微多了些, 芽菜的酱油也偏咸了。
Nevertheless, a very satisfied and happy meal!
山水豆腐花,不损怡保之名,顺滑爽口。豆腐水也不错,可是,就像我上面所说的,不可能会有什么新创新的。
Tasty Dessert! My friends ate this delicious tofufa with red bean, grass jelly, special sweet potatoes balls toppings in Ipoh
新扬威烤鸭(新街场旗舰店)Restoran SYW (Flagship) 的琵琶鸭外皮酥脆, 肉质甜美, 完全没有鸭骚味, 个人觉得非常好吃呢!
Restoran SYW is one of the few such shops that have air conditioning, making it relatively comfortable compared to many restaurants nearby.
The roast pork, BBQ Pork and BBQ ribs were OK. I would say the BBQ Pork ranked the best of the lot.
All of us like the taste of the sweet soy roasted chicken so we will be back as we have parking coupons left.
I felt the food had quite a bit of finesse despite the busy kopitiam setting. Service was friendly and efficient, and prices were reasonable.
Both the Chicken Chop and Pork Chop comes in a Tomato based gravy and with some onions, peas and fried potatoes. The meat cut was huge for both and the price of RM 12 was definitely cheap. The meat was very tender and both were coated in eggs. The flavours were generally quite light and that's good as the sauce did not overpower the natural flavours of the meat. Definitely a place that is worth visiting for Hainanese food when you're in Ipoh.
Verdict: Honestly this place certainly make it to the best Hainanese chops I’ve eaten but if you bored of the usual Ipoh food such as Bean Sprout Chicken, Curry Laksa, and so on, you may give this a try.
If you have not come across Purple Cane before, it is a tea house established in the year 1987, with wide range of teas, brewing utensils as well as tea related ...
Ever since I first tried the food here, I am hooked to the boiled octopus and stewed chicken legs. In fact, every table here orders 1 boiled octopus, stewed chicken feet (RM5) and also Ipoh bean sprouts (RM5)
A plate of mee jawa. Hubby and I had good appetite that morning and we shared the food.
Out of all items ordered, I'm pleased and satisfied to have these for breakfast. At least no calories were wasted over here.
The decoration and the ambience of 70's and 80's here has the back to yesteryears element which gives the nostalgic and old school feeling. Food wise the Hou Heng Chicken Chop and the Lamb Chop are very unique and delicious especially the sauce. Their Hou Heng Coffee is also their signature here that not to be missed.
Double Steamed Pumpkin Soup with Chestnuts and Rib Bones. This is the first time I tasted this soup and I enjoyed it very much.
We ordered the following dishes to go with rice or porridge. That evening, everyone chose porridge.
Signature Curry noodles with lots of ingredients @ RM 9.80. The colour may be red but it is not very spicy.
Fried salted pork belly. Crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside
Mixed pork porridge (chu chap chook in Cantonese) Hubby didn't want the blood curd cubes but found them in the porridge. He just leave them in the bowl.
