The Daily Fix Cafe Restaurant

  • 2019-12-28 00:00:00+00:00
The pasta, which has spaghetti with mushroom, chicken ham and crunchy smoked duck topped with a poached egg and shaved parmesan, is delicious. The noodles are cooked al dente, giving them a nice bite, and the sauce is creamy without being overwhelming.

Kedai Kopi Chung Wah 中華茶室鸡饭 Restaurant

  • 2019-10-27 00:00:00+00:00
What is so unique about this place? Well, is just that the rice had turn into round shape. Chicken is pretty normal and nothing to shout about.

Capitol Satay 佳必多沙爹 Restaurant

41, Lorong Bukit Cina Bandar Hilir 75100 Malacca Malaysia

  • 2020-04-22 00:00:00+00:00
However I find that the quality of this shop, the taste had changed. I felt that year 2018 and before, it taste much better. The fragrant of peanut, spices and others are more prominent.
  • 2020-02-15 00:00:00+00:00
To our surprise, the Capitol satay sauce tastes gratifying and has a way thicker nutty blend compare to other satay celup which we tried before, not hard to understand why there are so many diners dying for their satay celup. Well too bad in our case, as it keeps gives us a chill in the spine on each bite worrying that we might get severe diarrhea on the next morning! 😉
  • 2020-01-03 00:00:00+00:00
As we ate, restaurant staff came over occasionally, to add more sauce or to stir the pot so that stuff didn’t stick to the bottom. The peanut sauce was fragrant, with a sweet and nutty flavour. I especially liked the bacon-wrapped enoki mushroom.

Verdict: In my book, the signature Cheesy Prawn Mee Hoon definitely not on a stellar level and hardly worth the long waiting. You may visit Restoran Tong Sheng if you really crave for crabs when you are at Melaka.

Hai Heng pork satay Jalan gajah behrang
  • 2017-04-04 00:00:00+00:00
Hainanese pork satay is one of the must eats in Melaka. Not because it’s exceptional or better than the normal satay, but because it’s harder to get elsewhere. As far as I know, there are only two Hainanese pork satay stalls left in Penang while there are plenty in Melaka. Some of the more successful ones even operate as restaurants The Hainanese pork satay stall in Hai Heng kopitiam has been around for decades, now run by the second generation. It is not a coincidence for most Hainanese pork satay you get in Melaka to share a similar marinade and dipping sauce.

Famosa Chicken Rice Ball - Jalan Hang Jebat 古城鸡饭粒 Restaurant

21, Jalan Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka, Malaysia

  • 2020-03-18 00:00:00+00:00
Next, we have the Famosa Signature Steam Chicken (half portion) RM22.00 – Hainanese style steam chicken lightly drizzled with soy sauce, parsley and cucumber. The steam chicken is a huge success throughout this meal, succulent tender and juicy at each bite, as expected when they only use chicken meat from Bukit Mertajam, which is well-known for its free-range chicken! 😉

Famosa chicken rice ball
  • 2018-03-14 00:00:00+00:00
Honestly, this isn't the best chicken rice ball in town. I wouldn't recommend this to you if you're looking for some good chicken rice ball in Melaka. Other chicken rice ball restaurants are always packed, so if you do not wish to wait in a long queue under the sun, Famosa Chicken Rice Ball may be a better choice for you, since they have fewer people and they have many branches in Melaka.

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice 和記雞飯 Restaurant

468, Jalan Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka, Malaysia

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice is famous with its signature dish 'Hainanese chicken rice ball' served with the steamed white chicken.Besides the steamed white chicken, Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Shop has some side dishes such as Asam fish, fried cabbage and black bean soup

  • 2019-12-04 00:00:00+00:00
We wrap up the whole meal with a plate of stir-fry cabbage RM3.00 (RM1.50 per head) since the lady boss highly recommends to us, just decided to have it since it was cheap and need to meet our fiber intake quota for that day. 😉 Guess our tongue was malfunctioning because we really felt that the stir-fried cabbage was the best dish we had throughout the meal (the first dish we cleared in Hoe Kee), cabbage has an irresistible crunchy texture and tend to be less greasy, super sweet and flavourful with a delightful scent of garlic – with this dish alone guess we can clear a plate of plain rice without any problem!
  • 2016-08-16 00:00:00+00:00
I wouldn't recommend to join the crazy hype for chicken rice balls. Klang Valley has way better chicken rice... But I have to admit, their rice balls is something unique you can't really get in Klang Valley. Sorry to the friend who brought me there, thank you for lunch! No intention to sound so ungrateful, after all it's your presence that counts, not the chicken! I just can't understand the hype for it as it's really not that great - it works well for just very, very average chicken rice.

Heng Hong Tin Kee 兴丰信记茶餐室 Restaurant

62, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock Kampung Empat 75200 Malacca Malaysia

Heng Hong Tin Kee Restaurant, a traditional Hainanese cuisine restaurant which established since 1950s', is currently running by the son and daughter with support from the family members. In line with market changes and modernization of the industry, authentic food is soon dismissing from the market and we'll all definitely missing it. Though every time people talk about Hainanese food, "Hainanese Chicken Rice" and Hainanese Chicken or Pork Chop" are the 2 that pop up in their, but in fact, there are many more which many of us might not known.

  • 2020-02-16 00:00:00+00:00
Our very first Hainanese cuisine meal starts off with a plate of Sweet & Sour Pork Skin (甜酸猪皮) RM12.00 which consists of stir fry pork skin with pineapple and green scallion. Tastes sweet and sour as it promotes while giving us a refreshing kick on each bite (thanks to those pineapples), pork skin is cooked till perfection where it absorbs every drop of the essence and always be ready to burst out while you’re chewing on it – truly a pleasure to savor and definitely a highly recommended dish! 😉

Jalan Kota Laksamana 1/2 Taman Kota Laksamana 75200 Melaka Malaysia

  • 2019-12-18 00:00:00+00:00
After a short while of waiting, here comes our Tengkera’s Duck Noodle RM4.80 serves with flat noodle and shredded braised duck plus another bowl of clear herbal duck soup. The overall taste is heavenly good, flat noodle is smooth and flavorful (mild tinge of mixed herb and spices), while braised duck meat is superbly tender and juicy, don’t have to worry about bones issues since the main toppings are being well-taken care of, the additional herbal duck soup (sweet, robust pack with duck flavor) pretty much just adds up the merits for the dish. 😉

Chicken Buah Keluak (RM45.00). The keluak paste is rich, creamy with an intense smoky and earthy flavor. The curry chicken was beautifully thick and enriched with loads of spices and herbs. The Buah Keluak provided a distinctive yet not too overpowering nutty taste to the curry.
  • 2018-05-02 00:00:00+00:00
First dish up, a Thai classic of Steamed Seabass in Spicy Lime Juice (RM49 onwards). Beautiful balance of sweet, savory, sour and spicy makes the dish a very appetizing one to go with steamed rice. One may even find the soup so irresistible like me who kept going back for spoonful after spoonful of the flavourful soup. The presentation was an added bonus to the dish.

The taste of the ‘oh chien’ is average now and we do miss the original and unique taste of their ‘oh chien’. However, you still find long queues during weekends and public holidays. For many people, this is where they had their ‘oh chien’ since young and regardless of the taste, they just want to come back for the memory sake. Regardless the taste, we will also go back there again for memory sake.

Service was quick and within 10 minutes, we were served. Our preference is chicken breast, hence the server suggested that we order 1/4 portion of steamed (RM10) and 1/4 portion of roasted (RM10), which would guarantee us getting the part that we want (and we get to try both types of meat). The chicken, sourced from Bukit Mertajam, was smooth and tender, and I particularly liked the steamed version. The portion is also generous.
