When you are on your way up north to Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Desaru or Sungai Rengit, 衛生園茶餐室 is a very good old school breakfast pit stop which only locals know about. Read more: http://johorkaki.blogspot.com/2016/01/ulu-tiram-old-upstairs-coffee-shop.html#ixzz4UuHmRIh5
It is among the best in JB and their bitter gourd soup has the most fully loaded MHK soup of all. I shall be back for their regular soupy mee hoon kueh.
Overall, the price for the Mee Hoon Kueh and Pan Mee is 6.50 for each bowl. We have no regret to come here because it is delicious and we definitely will come again to try other food. The meals are very popular hence it is definitely worth the wait. If you are a person dislike to wait, we recommend you do not go at the peak period (12.00p.m - 01.00p.m).
We happily finished the large plate of Hokkien mee because of the flavourful sauce.
👉 Nice KL style pork noodles. Delicious sweet savoury sauce and fried minced pork. Light, soft, spongy hand finished pork balls and "cubes". Tasty soup and good sambal chili. Worth a try if you are near to any of the three 勇记三间庄 outlets in Johor Bahru.
We were glad that we almost finished 99% of the food. Overall, I would say that the authenticity of Teochew Cuisine was laudable and if there are chances, I will very much like to make a return trip here for other dishes that I am not able to order in this trip.
I was reminiscing about the stinky tofu from Taiwan with a Malaysian friend when he commented that there was a weekend food truck near his ...
If you are craving for authentic red rice wine mee suah in JB, you can get it at Restoran Soon Chai in Ulu Tiram at 顺顺来美食中心.
Soon Chai 顺顺来美食中心 has a good range of Foochow noodle, mee sua and rice dishes.
Won't suggest anyone to drive all the way to Ulu Tiram for this, unless you are a pork ball or kway teow soup lover. I may have this again when I happen to be in Ulu Tiram.
