Overall, the food at Ah Yat Seafood Restaurant is quite on point with the fresh seafood as the highlight. The other cooked food was nice in flavour but nothing too special stood out in my mind. The flavours are closer to Cantonese-styled cooking so it is definitely a hit with my mum and other older patrons which was a majority of their clientele when I visited. I would recommend them for family gatherings as well as for seafood lovers
steamed dragon tiger garoupa 龙虎斑 best, excellent.
here were 4 teeny weeny abalones with thick mushrooms that came with the veg. not bad la…
Recently awarded the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Mee is a testament to the enduring appeal of authentic, unpretentious flavors.
On that note, I was surprised to see that this stall had a sign saying that the morning and night shifts are run by different owners. Even if the recipies and techniques are similar, it makes me wonder if they procure from the same suppliers, and hence how different the bowls end up being.

The wanton mee was so so though. The noodles were springy, but the sauce was quite bland. The char siew was papery, and the wanton and dumplings had quite thick skin with an overwhelming mouthfeel and average fillings. Not quite worth the queue.
I have not tried their mushroom noodle as well as chicken feet noodle, thus I will be back again for more!
6th Avenue Wanton Mee & Jian Bo Shui Kueh @ Good Good Eating House Singapore
This dish is more commonly found in Teochew restaurants rather than in a hawker setting. To be able to enjoy restaurant quality fare at a fraction of the price is truly a blessing.
The hor fun was really interesting, covered by a layer of egg which was soft and charred at parts, with chewy horfun with quite a bit of wok hei, and contrasted by the slightly crunchy and sweet chai por. The prawns were also fresh and bouncy. Really nice and satisfying.
Do not mind coming back at all.
It is one of our favourite restaurants in Singapore. It can get quite busy during peak hours, so I recommend calling to make reservations before going down.
Frogs were fresh & tender & very substantial serving of 7 frogs in 2 pots. sauce was tasty & not too sweet & porridge also tasty, went very well with the sauce.
One of the very best when it comes to wanton noodles.
Ah Wing Wanton Mee is value for money and seems rather popular but chances of me coming back for it is not high.
wanton noodles was quite good. noodles were qq & chilli was good. char siew good too.
I enjoyed the mushrooms and the potatoes. Beef and mutton were quite chewy. Good for when you miss Chinese skewers like me.
There were mostly misses but as reviewed above, i am glad that they still managed to maintain the standards of the chilli crab and fried buns!
3pax dinner was about S$43…not cheap but i guess this the going rate these days.
dinner for 4 dishes 4pax including S$25 fish head was S$49.50. pretty good. this like a go to place for us, almost like homecooked comfort food.
This is the go to place for Teochew porridge for many people staying in the West, even for night owls as the restaurant is opened until 4 in the morning.
certainly ye shanghai a lot cheaper & mostly better sans the duck.
The friendly service is a call for making a return trip for their Bak Kut Teh.
I thought this was a very nice bak kut teh, with fresh and flavourful meat that had a pork fragrance without the unpleasant porkiness. The soup had a good meaty flavour, with a balanced taste profile featuring heat from the pepper, and fragrance from the garlic etc. Nice.
Not quite a hidden gem, but Beng’s Bak Kut Teh is too good to stay away from. I also loved the friendly service and would definitely make my way back here again!
Soh Food Delivery Review: Stewed Duck from Empress Road Market, Farrer Road by Deliveroo with pictures of stewed duck and spinach ...
The duck leg that I got was tender but the meat was a little dry and stringy.
The duck meat was pinkish, tender and fragrant inside, with throughly braised/stewed skin that was soft and slippery. The mushrooms were bouncy and yielded easily to the bite. Even the vegetables had been stewed till soft. The chilli was spicy and piquant – potent.
All in all, I grew to like Happy Roast World more by the end of my meal, solely because of its roasted pork belly.
Happy World Roast at Empress Road Market & Food Centre specializes in Cantonese roast meats.
Though not the best but it has a lot of soul and authenticity that you do not come across often these days. This is truly the kind of passionate and hardworking hawker stall that deserves our utmost respect.
I love the unsweetened glutinous rice which combines well with the gelato.
most important still the chili, spicy & flavourful, made the meepok tar really delicious!
such a nice simple meal, totally satisfied!
It was quite enjoyable and its standard is comparable with the Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok at Simpang Bedok. I have yet to try the 132 Mee Pok so not able to make the comparison.
Very fragrant, savoury and chewy noodles with soy and scallion oil or 葱油开洋拌面, to go with their sheng jian bao or xiao long bao.
next time you get a case of the late-night munchies, you can’t go wrong with great dim sum, beef hor fun and the rest of the extensive menu at Mong Kok Dim Sum!
If you love the chinese style of Mutton Soup, you would most probably hear of Hong Wen Mutton Soup as they have been long in the trade. Having visited Hong Wen Mutton Soup Stall in Beauty World Centre, this is the first time I'm patronizing this stall from Bukit Timah Centre
I’ve always enjoyed a bowl of mutton soup, so when my Makan Kaki, Chef Shen Tan of Newton nasi lemak stall OG Lemak recommended I try one in my neighbourhood, I was more than keen. Until I realized…
The. soup was comforting, fresh and mildly sweet-savoury from apparently fish sauce, and the grouper was really refined – fresh, tender, slightly bouncy and sweet. Very nice.

Humble Mala Tang Eating Place in Bukit Timah Plaza.
I’d say Wayne’s non-traditional thunder tea creations are quite a unique take on a Hakka classic, and totally worth a try.
I’m definitely ordering from Living Wholesome again and next time, I’ll be sure to try their unique Thunder Tea Burger, which is so popular, it was sold out when I called for a dinner order.
