One of the signature (and popular) dishes here is the Nasi Ayam (RM55), aka chicken rice. Guests can opt for either roasted or poached chicken. We went for the roasted chicken and I was impressed by the generous portion that arrived. Tastewise, the chicken was tender and comes with three different dipping sauce - chilli, ginger and sweet soy sauce. The rice was pretty good too, as it was fragrant and flavorful. Overall, a pretty authentic rendition of a Malaysian favourite.

Fried Kuey Teow, 7.50 ringgit (Big) Having tasted it, I can almost guarantee that not one of us regretted our decision because it was tasty yawwww! A big plate would cost you 7.50 ringgit and a small plate would cost you 6.50 ringgit. The dish came with plenty of fish cakes, prawns, taugehs, cockles. It was delicious. I’d certainly be back here. It is surprisingly understated, I think. Despite its popularity, it was rather quite during brunch/lunch. Naturally, that meant that food arrived really fast too, which is another plus point.

Trust us when we say that our pork patties are one of the most succulent and tender ones around - perfected through 70 years of practice by our ancestors. To further elevate the already mouthwatering recipe, new flavouring ingredients we added, such as Mui Choi, Tung Choi, Coriander, Salted Fish, Dried Squid and Dried Oyster. These flavours may sound familiar, but boy are they exquisite combinations.

Although I'm glad that the standard of the food has been maintained, the service from the kitchen was far from smooth. The waiting period for our food leaves much to be desired and, if you want to eat here, do not expect your food to arrive in the right order that it should be. It all depends on how busy each individual food station is (steaming station, noodles station, frying station, etc.) with their orders as they seem to churn out food independent of each other. I guess if you choose your timing wisely (like during non lesser peak times), hopefully you may end up with a much better dining experience. ^_* But having said that, the food is still good, some decent but mostly good...plus it still serves one of my favourite XLBs. The only downside, their prices seem to have risen quite significantly but their portions still remain small...even a vegetable dish of pea shoots ("tau miew") can cost RM26....haiz!

The Beef Brisket Noodle Soup was decent... though a little too greasy to our liking, the broth carried the right seasoning and come with an in-depth meaty flavor. Most of the one-dish rice meals are priced very reasonably under RM20 (with good portions too) for a location like this.

Food was great! Where do I even start. The Curry Mee here is special – not only do you get to choose the noodles you want, you can also choose the filling. Whether you fancy clams? Pork meat? Pork skin? Pork balls? They have it all. I opted for clams and pork skin + mee hoon for noodles. It was good, yaw. The broth – it was flavorful in a way that you cant stop slurping it and not overwhelmingly spicy to an extent that your tongue burns – nope, it simply was the right amount, appealingly so. If you are one of those who needs that spicy ‘kick’, then worry not, they do provide you with extra chilli on the side to satisfy your craving. There were plenty of filling – long beans, tau fu pok, pork skin, clams, several other greens – all fresh and chewy, a good addition to the curry mee.

We heard many people complained about how pricey the food is in De Maw Restaurant but when you look at their menu, it is not that bad at all. In fact, we felt it is cheaper than most restaurants in the mall now. Like we mentioned earlier, please book your table in advance or take the risk if you plan to walk in. I do have a favourite prawn mee in PJ which I've not gotten round to blogging about coz I've not had that prawn mee in quite a while. However, this is still a very decent prawn mee...but was it better than my favourite prawn mee in PJ? All in all, this is a worthy replacement of the previous tai chow place that occupied the space here. Though prices may be slightly higher but then this place is little bit more premium in looks and offerings with both an air-conditioned and an outdoor dining area plus a proper menu. Perhaps some of the dishes can't compare with the previous tai chow place but we also had some dishes that weren't offered by the previous place. So, this still makes a good neighbourhood tai chow place for some of our weekday and weekend dinners.
