By Chef Pang Kok Keong. Oily and fragrant, nicely cooked chewy noodles and umami meat filled yong tau foo.
Very soon, you will be able to enjoy grilled seafood at night as Hakka Pang will switch to a ‘seafood shack’ concept called Guppies. Expect a variety of grilled fish and seafood served with different dips.

If you’re looking for a cooler, cheaper alternative to your typical Cafe cheeseburger in Tiong Bahru, Skirt & Dirt is the place to be! They also have another outlet in Bukit Timah that’s closed on Tuesdays.
Skirt & Dirt is a burger concept that differentiates itself by serving up unique burgers.
I'd rather go to Hammee's, but I am kinda curious about the duck confit burger from these guys.
Overall, the stall’s comforting wanton mee and warm service make a winning combination that’s worth getting up early for!
The char siew, although not caramelised, was sweet and tender and complemented the noodles very well.
This is a place to go to if you are hankering for really good noodles bathed in a tasty sauce!
If you are looking for a affordable tasty meal, you should try Mr & Mrs Nasi Lemak at 243 Cantonment Road. At its new location you can find other stalls with different cuisines. So you can enjoy your yummy nasi lemak while your family or friends can tuck into other dishes which they may prefer.
The chicken wing was moist inside and crispy outside with a balanced flavour, and the moist otah was standard stuff, slightly above average. Not bad.
Previously at French Road, Mr and Mrs Nasi Lemak serves up a mean bowl of Nasi Lemak, with other fusion items on the menu!
There is no lack of food options in Tiong Bahru Food Centre and The Coco Rice is worth a try if you need to satisfy your nasi lemak cravings. The portion is quite huge and it is personally too much for me.
A reader wrote to me recently to recommend a new yet super good nasi lemak at Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre and since I was in the vicinity last...
Overall, this is a very hearty meal and a great rendition of nasi lemak!
Recommended by Mr Seetoh of Makansunstra and with Mr Lesie Tay's writeup, it had already won my heart over for their Wantan Mee, not to mention even if their queue is long.
Thin, light, generic egg noodles but expertly done to a tender springy crunch to the bite.
Needless to say, I think this stall’s food is really so good! It is a die die must try.
The stall was really popular, and required a 15 minute wait at 12nn. The chicken chop was crispy and charred, but a bit tough. It was paired though with a superb black pepper sauce, full of solid black pepper and meaty demi-glace flavour. Additionally, the coleslaw was fresh, crunchy and competent.

This stall at the Happy Hawkers kopitiam has gotten some attention online lately, but I'm not entirely sure why (18 Jalan Membina).
Better yet, get the best of both worlds – the loaded, lemak laksa for an indulgent treat, chased by a palate cleanser of traditional Teochew mee tai mak soup. After all, bak chor mee is how Lau Jiang first made their name more than fifty years ago.
Hello Makan Kakis, Meet our new Foodie Friend, Winner of Masterchef Singapore Season 3, Jonathan Chew! We caught up on what he’s been up to since his win and he also recommends some of his fa…
Offering traditional and authentic Malay cuisines, Nusa & Tara has earned itself another return customer as I will definitely be back to try the Mee Siam and Nasi Lemak!
Small Potatoes Make The Steak Look Bigger recommended the lontong here, and it was really quite good. The gravy packed heat, but had an otherwise gentle savoury lemak flavour.
The dishes on the side may vary from day to day.
Recommended by Small Potatoes Make The Steak Look Bigger. 我觉得面太软了,水煮味太重了,吃不出肉脞面的酱味。Everything else was average, including the very gummy fish dumplings. This was quite popular though, so I may have gotten the one “off” bowl.
The kopi from this place sure kickstarts my heart.
I must have subconsciously enjoyed the tom yam ba chor mee at Pin Sheng more than I had registered because I came back for the tom yam mee pok.
Liang Ji – Char Kway Teow, Carrot Cake & Oyster Omelette at Telok Blangah Street 32
The well-loved bak chor mee stall at Sim Lim Square’s food court has recently found a new home at Lengkok Bahru!
Firm and springy noodles in a nice bowl with somehow Japanese or miso flavour. Not bad.
Old school Western Food that is worth your calories if you want some nostalgic feel.
The style and presentation of the Western food gave me a nostalgic feel and definitely one of the stalls I will revisit if I'm looking for Western Food with fried bun.
Overall, if you prefer a lighter and simpler taste in Lor Mee, this will be your take!
We all love a good and affordable hawker gem, but as time passes, these gems will disappear when interest and passion die out.
Leon Kee Claypot Pork Rib Soup is recommended by the Michelin Guide Singapore, listed under “Michelin Plate”.
it was pretty good being eggy, chewy, and savory.
Recommended by Johor Kaki. The fish soup had a really good body and layered flavours, of savoriness, sweetness and tanginess from the salted vegetables. The fried fish was really crispy and tasty, of just the right saltiness and texture, and the sliced fish was really fresh and tender. Nice.
Even though each element of the dish, especially the fish paste and the soup, was decently executed, the flavours weren’t exceptionally mindblowing.
