Nasi Lemak Pak Angah - Sentul Restaurant

But I hit jackpot when I discovered Pak Angah nasi lemak. His kerang sambal is one of his signatures (the other being paru and their famous Ayam Sambal) and deservingly so – plump and cooked with sambal infused with kaffir lime leaves, every juicy bivalve was fragrant (citrusy) and rather addictive.

The fresh bananas are peeled battered on the spot, and fried at the roadside stall. We didn’t get to try the curry puff, but all fritters were great, with pisang goreng being the best of course. What makes the goreng pisang here stand out from the rest is the use of pisang raja which are firm, soft and incredibly sweet.

While I wouldn’t say these fried fritters were out of this world, they were still delicious and definitely better than those I had eaten previously. This is so far my champion of pisang goreng! 🙂

It’s easy to pass off Alor Corner Curry Noodle as another food stall that caters to tourists. All the more so when it’s situated right at the entrance to the world famous Jalan Alor. But if you put away your skepticism and gave it a try, you will be rewarded with one of the most authentic and tastiest curry mee in KL. In fact, I would describe this as the definitive version of KL curry mee.

Jalan Alor curry mee is good. It is the authentic KL curry mee with thick spicy and savoury broth. It comes with cockles, some slices of chicken, long bean, beans sprout and brinjal.

We wanted to take away and they had skilfully packed them with layers of plastic between the Appam's so that they do not stick on to one another. I have not seen this Sri Lankan variety of Appam made elsewhere except in Ceylonese homes and functions. Except that of late, we do have some Sri Lankan restaurants that do have these but they are sold at premium prices. I believe that this is the only place where you could get them in a stall like concept. The Appam's were perfect. The plain Appam's were priced at RM 1.50 each and the ones with Brown Sugar are priced at RM 1.70 each. I would rate these Appam's at 9/10 . Definitely some good stuff !

Verdict Overall there was simply nothing bad to say about Peel Road Nasi Lemak. It tastes much like the conventional nasi lemak but with a little porky twist. The variety of side dishes can be a little overwhelming and the prices are fair due to it being a road side stall.

Ayam Kampung Soup @ RM 10.00 The portion was huge and pricey too. The soup itself was something very unique, rich in spices and not the usual kind of soup that is mostly found in Indian Muslim restaurants. My rating for this preparation shall be 8/10.

It wouldn’t be fair if I were to compare the ones I bought at Chen Brothers to the ones I had at the durian buffet, considering the differences in price. All I can say is that, if you are looking for good quality D24 durians, go buy them from Chen Brothers. If you have a good appetite for a whole load of D24 durians, go to SK6363.

For RM 16, we have no complains. The durian quality is pretty decent and we love the taste. If you a durian lover especially D24, you should be here. This will end your durian cravings for sure. We had enough durian for the three meals today and probably tomorrow. Remember, eat durian sensibly! Please take note that durians availability are seasonal and the durian rates are correct on 27/6/2016.

This is their famous curry mee. To me it taste like vegetarian curry mee. Taste is slightly mild, fragrant of coconut milk and a curry leave. A simple bowl of curry mee KL version. The set back is there is not much ingredient. comes with only taupok, siham and fish cake. @ RM 6

E Burger is a family run burger stall and they also serve roti john besides the usual stuff. The husband mans the grill while the wife helps out with the rest. Sometimes he’d be away to go back home to resupply his stocks of patties and cheese. That doesn’t stop the show though, as she will step in while waiting for him to return.

I ordered the CKT with an extra fried egg (RM 8). I had been warned that the CKT here is not the dry wok hei type of affair. It’s a slightly soggy and moist plate. You will likely be let down on your first bite. The taste creeps up on you. There’s prawns, siham, lap cheong, and crispy fried pork lard – all the ingredients that’s supposed to be in a plate of CKT.

Char Kuey Teow (Big RM7, Small RM6) It had a delightful smoky aroma, the noodles were soft, slightly moist and accompanied by the usual CKT ingredients such as decent sized prawns and lots of Chinese sausages to balance the sweet and savoury flavours. The Char Kuey Teow was no doubt delicious, there wasn’t any oversized prawn or salted egg, just a delicious plate of char kuey teow with strong “wok hei” flavours.

When people talk about nasi lemak in Kepong, they automatically think of the famous one at ‘wai sek kai’. Personally, I am not a fan because their sambal is sweet, and I like my sambal spicy. So, I would like to share about Nasi Lemak Berlauk Auntie Mid. It is one of our favorites currently and we have been a customer for almost 2 years now.

This good-tasting slightly burnt aroma noodles comes with a decent amount of pork slice, prawns and the crucial ingredients of 'Chee Yau Char' - deep fried pork lard, something that's a Must-Have for the Hokkien Mee. It was not too oily either and comes in thick, dry and sticky black sauce coats every single strand of the yellow thick noodles.

Since this is my first time, I order the 3 mix combination. @ RM 10 Fill with chicken, roast pork and char siew. Servings is pretty decent, as it is not much but good enough to try it out. Roast pork is good, as it have well balance of meat and fats in between and best of all the skin is crackling. I wont say char siew the best but decent enough for any cravings. Chicken is soft and juicy to my liking.
