Brickfields goreng pisang
  • 2018-04-16 00:00:00+00:00
The fresh bananas are peeled battered on the spot, and fried at the roadside stall. We didn’t get to try the curry puff, but all fritters were great, with pisang goreng being the best of course. What makes the goreng pisang here stand out from the rest is the use of pisang raja which are firm, soft and incredibly sweet.

While I wouldn’t say these fried fritters were out of this world, they were still delicious and definitely better than those I had eaten previously. This is so far my champion of pisang goreng! 🙂

Brickfields Char Kuey Teow Restaurant

Jalan Tun Sambathan 4 Brickfields 50470 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

  • 2018-10-31 00:00:00+00:00
I ordered the CKT with an extra fried egg (RM 8). I had been warned that the CKT here is not the dry wok hei type of affair. It’s a slightly soggy and moist plate. You will likely be let down on your first bite. The taste creeps up on you. There’s prawns, siham, lap cheong, and crispy fried pork lard – all the ingredients that’s supposed to be in a plate of CKT.
  • 2018-04-02 00:00:00+00:00
Char Kuey Teow (Big RM7, Small RM6) It had a delightful smoky aroma, the noodles were soft, slightly moist and accompanied by the usual CKT ingredients such as decent sized prawns and lots of Chinese sausages to balance the sweet and savoury flavours. The Char Kuey Teow was no doubt delicious, there wasn’t any oversized prawn or salted egg, just a delicious plate of char kuey teow with strong “wok hei” flavours.

Nasi Lemak PEEL ROAD
  • 2019-10-21 00:00:00+00:00
Loaded my plate with fried chicken, sambal sotong and mutton curry. All the dishes went well with the rice, which was creamy but subtle. I can see why the chicken is so popular – extremely flavourful (not just on the skin but on the inside as well), addictively crunchy on the outside whilst being tender and moist on the inside. The mutton curry was not gamey at all and not too spicy; while the sambal sotong had a nice sweet and savoury tang to it with just enough kick. Two plates cost us RM15, which is very reasonable imo considering its a meal in the city centre.

Verdict Overall there was simply nothing bad to say about Peel Road Nasi Lemak. It tastes much like the conventional nasi lemak but with a little porky twist. The variety of side dishes can be a little overwhelming and the prices are fair due to it being a road side stall.

Om Shakthi Chelo's Appam Stall Restaurant

6A, Lorong Ara Kiri 3 Lucky Garden Bangsar 59100 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

  • 2017-09-11 00:00:00+00:00
We wanted to take away and they had skilfully packed them with layers of plastic between the Appam's so that they do not stick on to one another. I have not seen this Sri Lankan variety of Appam made elsewhere except in Ceylonese homes and functions. Except that of late, we do have some Sri Lankan restaurants that do have these but they are sold at premium prices. I believe that this is the only place where you could get them in a stall like concept. The Appam's were perfect. The plain Appam's were priced at RM 1.50 each and the ones with Brown Sugar are priced at RM 1.70 each. I would rate these Appam's at 9/10 . Definitely some good stuff !

It’s easy to pass off Alor Corner Curry Noodle as another food stall that caters to tourists. All the more so when it’s situated right at the entrance to the world famous Jalan Alor. But if you put away your skepticism and gave it a try, you will be rewarded with one of the most authentic and tastiest curry mee in KL. In fact, I would describe this as the definitive version of KL curry mee.
  • 2016-10-17 00:00:00+00:00
Jalan Alor curry mee is good. It is the authentic KL curry mee with thick spicy and savoury broth. It comes with cockles, some slices of chicken, long bean, beans sprout and brinjal.

Maidin Sup Kambing Restaurant

Ayam Kampung Soup @ RM 10.00 The portion was huge and pricey too. The soup itself was something very unique, rich in spices and not the usual kind of soup that is mostly found in Indian Muslim restaurants. My rating for this preparation shall be 8/10.

This good-tasting slightly burnt aroma noodles comes with a decent amount of pork slice, prawns and the crucial ingredients of 'Chee Yau Char' - deep fried pork lard, something that's a Must-Have for the Hokkien Mee. It was not too oily either and comes in thick, dry and sticky black sauce coats every single strand of the yellow thick noodles.

It was hot, fresh off the stove. It was spicy too .. the kind whereby your forehead starts to sweat, lol. The cook did ask us whether spicy was okay and we were all ‘Yesssss!’. When this happens elsewhere and I request for spicy, it rarely is spicy. Here however, if you want spicy – they’ll give you spicy. I missed it …the sweating , the mouth in desperate need for water, your face starting to sweat all over. Kaw kaw, man. This dish is basically a combination of rice + curry gravy + chicken. Ooo man, deliciousss. Thick, spicy gravy. A generous portion of rice and medium size chicken pieces. Yup, we enjoyed it for sure.
