The fresh bananas are peeled battered on the spot, and fried at the roadside stall. We didn’t get to try the curry puff, but all fritters were great, with pisang goreng being the best of course. What makes the goreng pisang here stand out from the rest is the use of pisang raja which are firm, soft and incredibly sweet.

While I wouldn’t say these fried fritters were out of this world, they were still delicious and definitely better than those I had eaten previously. This is so far my champion of pisang goreng! 🙂

I ordered the CKT with an extra fried egg (RM 8). I had been warned that the CKT here is not the dry wok hei type of affair. It’s a slightly soggy and moist plate. You will likely be let down on your first bite. The taste creeps up on you. There’s prawns, siham, lap cheong, and crispy fried pork lard – all the ingredients that’s supposed to be in a plate of CKT.

Char Kuey Teow (Big RM7, Small RM6) It had a delightful smoky aroma, the noodles were soft, slightly moist and accompanied by the usual CKT ingredients such as decent sized prawns and lots of Chinese sausages to balance the sweet and savoury flavours. The Char Kuey Teow was no doubt delicious, there wasn’t any oversized prawn or salted egg, just a delicious plate of char kuey teow with strong “wok hei” flavours.

It’s easy to pass off Alor Corner Curry Noodle as another food stall that caters to tourists. All the more so when it’s situated right at the entrance to the world famous Jalan Alor. But if you put away your skepticism and gave it a try, you will be rewarded with one of the most authentic and tastiest curry mee in KL. In fact, I would describe this as the definitive version of KL curry mee.

Jalan Alor curry mee is good. It is the authentic KL curry mee with thick spicy and savoury broth. It comes with cockles, some slices of chicken, long bean, beans sprout and brinjal.

We wanted to take away and they had skilfully packed them with layers of plastic between the Appam's so that they do not stick on to one another. I have not seen this Sri Lankan variety of Appam made elsewhere except in Ceylonese homes and functions. Except that of late, we do have some Sri Lankan restaurants that do have these but they are sold at premium prices. I believe that this is the only place where you could get them in a stall like concept. The Appam's were perfect. The plain Appam's were priced at RM 1.50 each and the ones with Brown Sugar are priced at RM 1.70 each. I would rate these Appam's at 9/10 . Definitely some good stuff !

Verdict Overall there was simply nothing bad to say about Peel Road Nasi Lemak. It tastes much like the conventional nasi lemak but with a little porky twist. The variety of side dishes can be a little overwhelming and the prices are fair due to it being a road side stall.

Ayam Kampung Soup @ RM 10.00 The portion was huge and pricey too. The soup itself was something very unique, rich in spices and not the usual kind of soup that is mostly found in Indian Muslim restaurants. My rating for this preparation shall be 8/10.

I love my apam in paper thin version where this uncle did it to perfection. What I usually order would be add corn and add peanut where a piece with normal ingredients is at RM0.90 and my version is RM1.

This good-tasting slightly burnt aroma noodles comes with a decent amount of pork slice, prawns and the crucial ingredients of 'Chee Yau Char' - deep fried pork lard, something that's a Must-Have for the Hokkien Mee. It was not too oily either and comes in thick, dry and sticky black sauce coats every single strand of the yellow thick noodles.
