Reasons to celebrate Brasserie Fritz’ reopening: fresh seafood and local ingredients, a largely organic wine list that will make you want to quit your job and become a sommelier, and French specialties Paris would be envious of. You will not regret finishing with the Rum Baba. A lovely spacious setting with options for al fresco dining.
Reasons to visit the Brasserie Fritz Pop-Up: same fabulous menu, new gorgeous location; must-try the Salmon Niçoise; Duck Confit and the Orange Souffle; if you are a fan of natural wines, they have some exciting labels here.
AS the seafood looks good, so we ordered Hokkaido Scallop and Parsley – pan seared Hokkaido Scallop , parsley puree, Salted Caramel Hazelnut @ RM 40. Enjoy the scallop on the high note, as it was cook to perfection. Slighlty glazed and golden brown on the top, fresh scallop meat and puree is smooth to work well with its caramel hazelnut that did not over power the scallop. Great combination.
Crowded, food is okay. Most dessert are sold out.
Chocolate Millefeuille - MYR 16 nett. Coffee Eclair - MYR 13 nett. Both of them are half eaten in the photo above. In a nutshell - while they taste better than those sold in other bakeries but they are still on the sweeter side since they are meant to be sweet pastries so I don't think I will go back for more.
My Personal Opinion Bring your sweet tooth (and, by that, I really mean your sweet tooth) if you want to enjoy these baked goods. Make sure you order yourself a black coffee...and make sure it's bitter (without adding sugar) to cut through all that sweetness, otherwise it'll send you straight to diabetic heaven! ;P In the end, it proved way too sweet for me to have any remote chance of enjoying these sweet goodies. I'm afraid once was quite enough! >_< I'd rather go for the famous Japanese pastry, Chateraise Patisserie, instead.
I ordered the Hanami Tea and had Francais Chicken Waffle Set (RM29) which turned out to be the best waffle I ever had but don't go there on an empty stomach. I am very particular about waffle after all. The chocolate waffle was crispy unlike those in other cafes. The icing on the cake was definitely the bull's eye egg which I reminded them to make it such a way.
