It is definitely good, ‘sedap’ but it is not the best there is out there. The appeal here is the good food + affordable price point. Who can resist that combination, right?? It is ‘mamak’ food at its best. Food-wise, I was happy with everything except the Ayam Madu. I was expecting tender chicken with thick, sweetened honey syrup coating but here, it was done differently. Tender chicken it was but the ‘madu’ part was missing. In its place was some other gravy with onions. Besides that, food was yummy. The curry was thick and flavorful, the fried chicken was chewy yet tender. Bendi and cabbage were awesome additions in making both plates wholesome.
Their Sambal Fish was so delicious. It was truly one of the best that I have tasted. Been so long that I had food this good. Truly miss these places as it has been so long. The fish was slightly on the spicy side and came with some thick gravy. 10/10 is my rating for this. Similarly, their Fish Roe was another one that won my heart. Absolutely delicious stuff and I would rate it at 9/10.
My usual order are, cabbage, beef and chicken, it comes with a total of RM 12. Price is pretty decent. Of course you must have flood gravy in your rice to make it punch with flavour. Love the multiple burst of flavour in your mouth, from spicy, sour, herbs fragrant, sweet and it is indeed a good mix. Love it. One of the best nasi kandar in KL.
Taste-wise, Mohd Yaseen Penang Nasi Kandar was a disappointment and nothing memorable. Though unique, the Ayam Madu was coated with lots of cancerous red colouring and the curries were spicy without in dept flavours. That’s not to say the food is bad, it’s quite passable as a good Nasi Kandar spot in KL and certainly better than most generic restaurants, but its no where near to what’s served in Penang.
Reasons to visit 7Tnine Kitchen & Bar: a casual, friendly setting; a team that doesn’t take itself too seriously, instead insisting on a fun, happy vibe with food designed to fill the tummy and capture a few Insta shots too; the longest happy hours we’ve come across in the city for beer.
7TNINE Special Rack of Lamb (RM55.79) , chef recommendation. Again, hearty serving that can feed two. Three giant pieces of lamb rack, flavoured up with herbs marination. Comes with black pepper sauce, mashed potatoes and daily vegetables.
Reasons to visit: Great ambiance and they have combination of both world which is the Indian and Western delights.
The Mogul Chicken Biryani was delicious. It was made up of long grained steamed Basmati rice that was soft and flavorful. You’d be able taste the spices, smell it too. The aroma was divine. There were about 4 pieces of chicken? It was soft, meaty and well flavored. The dish was accompanied by a side of yogurt and dhal.
After a little deliberation, we decided to order the Tandoori Chicken (RM25.00) which really did not disappoint us. The marination was perfect and the Chef has grilled it to the right char. that retains the succulence of the chicken.
Eat-All-You-Can Lunch Buffet RM 24.99++
The first dishes to arrive was the Garlic Naan and the Sarso Da Saag . I am crazy about spinach and so, the first thing to go was the vegetable, I ate it all up with much gusto. It wasn’t wet and/or soaked in gravy. No, what it was, was tasty and flavorful. I liked it lots.
