I have had plenty of Matcha/ Hazenut/Pistachio Tiramisus but most were either too sweet, too creamy or an overdose of the Marsala wine. The “Goldilocks” pistachio Tiramisu here however has the optimal ratio of mascarpone to cheese, of Bailey’s and pistachio, and much like a well concocted cocktail, the notes of each component blends in beautifully without a single clash of flavours.

The tiramisu is nice, and a generous portion. I can’t eat the stuff – somehow it always comes straight back up minutes after it goes down. No idea why. Love the sorbet, though – nice and lemony!

I had a discussion with a friend a couple of days later about her experience at Bistecca, and she told me that she had problems with her steak too and there were issues with a couple of her other orders. I'm not sure whether its a recurring problem at Bistecca, but they might want to look into it.

It’s clear from the food that executive chef Francesco Mansani runs an incredibly tight kitchen.

The outstanding item we had was their grilled sea bass. A fresh fish without much to distract from the flavours.

What I really appreciate about Publico Ristorante is its spaciousness, which is much needed for good conversations but often lacking at many restaurants and bistros.

The service here was average as it took a long time for the staff to clear our plates and not much smile from the staff.

Espresso with fizz and a sprig of mint to go with. It's actually pretty enjoyable, thanks to the coffee.

Personally, Wine Connection is the kind of place I’d go with a big group of friends, down several bottles of wine, order a load of different dishes and go home safe in the knowledge that our wallets were still intact.

Granted I was mentally prepared this would not replace a trip back to Italy but it was close enough - creamy, nutty and a tad sweet.
