I love Sushi and Sashimi, but I have always been on the fence in regards to Donburi and Poke. I am not sure why, it just seems like it is all mixed together and you enjoy it almost the same way. Buβ¦
Very average chirashi don.
Food at Donburi King is Japanese cuisine, focused on rice bowls. Ingredients are fresh and tasty, resulting in quality of most dishes being pretty good. The menu has good variety, so repeat visits are worthwhile. Portions are large for individuals. Prices are reasonable and affordable, budget about SGD $28 per person.
We had a pleasant dining experience at Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King Niku King.
Prices are not extravagant, and you do get more than a fair amount of decent food.
We tried all three styles with flavoured egg and added additional S$1.00 per portion for spicy paste for the Miso Ramen.
Yakiniku Like in Paya Lebar Quarter is a specialty yakiniku fast food restaurant for affordable Japanese BBQ. We have not managed to eat in the popular restaurant but we enjoyed a good Yakiniku Like Takeaway meal at home.
If you love a good meal of grilled meats and no frills concept, you should head down to Yakiniku Like soon.
I love yakiniku, but it's pricey. So this chain from Japan sounded promising, as they were serving cheap sets as fast food under the name Yakiniku Like (10 Paya Lebar Road #B1-28, 6970-7397).
Charcoal-Grill & Salad Bar Keisuke, a new concept restaurant of Chef Keisuke Takedaβs chain, offers a variety of sumiyaki (charcoal-grilled) dishes. The restaurant in Paya Lebar Square is quite compact and can accommodate about 30 guests during normal times. With safe-distancing measures, even fewer diners can get to eat in the restaurant.
To me, this is a place I could go back to repeatedly for a good, comforting and satisfying meal at pretty affordable prices.
Food that is cooked over charcoal seals in the moisture and flavour, giving consistently tender and succulent results.
Kanada-yaβs award-winning, flavourful pork bone broth is first boiled for 18-hours, making it rich and creamy before mixing in a secret sauce to add flavour and umami to the broth.
Kanada-Ya specialized in the authentic Tonkotsu ramen, the award-wining, rich and flavouful pork bone broth boiled for 18 hours before mixing in a secret sauce to add flavour and umami to the broth.
This is a satisfactory meal. The ramen is good. Not my top 5 favourite ramen shops in Singapore. But good enough to sate any ramen cravings.
Love their concept of the restaurant from having Unagi and Skewers on Binchotan Charcoal to Teppan Yaki and Sashimi. Having an Izakaya in the industrial area is unique enough, I do not mind making a return again for other dishes.
Basically diner can pick 2 dons from a wide array of choices. I decided to go for the Ginger Pork ($7) and Prawn Tempura ($7). The pork marinated in a soy sauce is flavoursome and tender while the crunchy prawn is coated in a delightful crispy batter.
Otherwise, Yamato Izakaya certainly is a spot that residents around the north-east would be excited about; a spot for the office workers around for a weekday treat, or somewhere for folks to gather without having to end up in town on weekends.
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
In terms of quality, quantity, and value for money, Nuodle checks all three boxes for me.
Maccha Cheese Dorayaki - i looked at this as three separate desserts! Aside from the stack of dorayaki, you also get soft serve ice cream and shirotoma dumplings with azuki beans.
Maccha House has an extensive selection of Maccha-based drinks and desserts and its food menu also offers a variety of Japanese cafe staples. It has reasonably priced sets which makes it a nice place for affordable casual meals.
Maccha House From cakes to puddings, ice-creams to tiramisus, Maccha House (ζΉθΆι€¨) lovingly envisions all things dessert with an unmi...
Overall, we have visited this outlet a few times and we like it. The food is good, reasonably priced and friendly environment. Make sure you order the Kushiyaki. Kanpai!! Cheers!!
I love Kushi Bar's Japanese buffet, and would return soon again for more. It is still one of the best I have had so far.
There's also a chilli crab bun I had to try. It was nice and fluffy but the filling could be spicier and crabbier.
new Tempura Bar by Astons in SingPost Centre offers tempura and other Japanese cuisine staple as well as affordable wines, sake and beer.
While the place is slightly out of the way, itβs worth crossing the vibrant streets of Geylang to get to this chic restaurant.
Iβm definitely excited to visit Haru during lunch time to see what the lunch menu has to offer, even though the place is quite inaccessible if you donβt drive!
Haru is probably a good spot that serves substantially sized fare for them to recharge after a good workout.
Neuvo Cafe is a pleasant cafe for the average Singaporeans β with a fair selection of food at prices that are very reasonable.
Even when many cafΓ© items are priced high in Singapore, they managed to keep its menu wallet-friendly while using quality ingredients such as Japanese sauces. Time to head east.
Tamoya Udon & Tempura Singapore by Chef Tamotsu Kurokawa, a champion in a Japanese cooking show, has a new outlet at SingPost Centre.
Osomatsu Japanese Kitchen and Bar at Kinex has an interesting menu - izakaya food with imaginative and interesting variations.
On the whole it was a good lunch. We had all the important food groups in one plate, the portion size was substantial, and the food was tasty and affordably priced.
On the whole, we thought the tempura rice bowl meal at Tendon Ginza Itsuki Paya Lebar Square was good value.
I must say that Char Sticks and Grill has done a pretty great job with their food.
menu is extensive, quality ingredients, portion size generous. Kinsa Sushi is a great value-for-money Japanese restaurant.
