Soba made with natural ingredients and no MSG. Between the hot and cold versions of soba, my preference will be the warm broth as I felt its more stomach-comforting and flavourful. For those who prefer to have rice, they do have some menu items with rice too.

Another Hidden Gem 💎 I discovered at Tanjong Pagar, Tokyo Soba used to be located in a hole in a wall small shop but has since expanded and taken over 2 units across them.

Was looking for something that wouldn't sit down heavy so a cold soba was usually the quick fix for that.

Overall, I think the food here is fresh and above average. Although the ventilation here can be improved, I think it is much better than some of the Korean barbecue joints that I frequent where I step out of the restaurant smelling like smoked bacon. Not that smoked bacon is a bad thing.

It's not all about ramen at Ippudo. Savour their new side dishes before tucking into your favourite ramen. The three new sides dishes are Aburi Beef Sushi with Ikura ($18), Teppan Chashu Hamburg ($15) and Salmon Katsu ($18).

Chargrilled food is usually a hit-or-miss. Done wrong, the overcooked meat is stiff and unappetising; done right, as Aburi-EN has done, and the meat is nicely charred and flavourful.

Service at Gyu San is friendly, efficient, and chirpy. The relatively young service staff offer recommendations, though the menu is small and focused, but they're able to describe each dish. They proactively top up water glasses, and offer to remove finished plates; I also note they clean up quickly when guests leave. Order fulfillment has a short wait.

That gindara above was deliciously crispy with a salty and fatty exterior. But it was also so thick that it wasn't heated all the way through, so next time I'll probably choose something else.

There is no lack of Japanese restaurants in Tanjong Pagar and Wagatomo is a great addition. The Japanese dishes are given a modern twist here where most of the dishes are quite good. This is a convenient spot for dates or gatherings.

Food wise, the menu did feel rather ‘Western-Japanese’, with a selection of burgers ($19 – $22), sandwiches ($15 – $18) and rice plates ($16 – $18). There is a selection of pastries from Asanoya Bakery.
