Overall lunch set portion is quite generous. We were so full towards the end. People with big appetites will enjoy this set lunch.

This has been a stellar experience: food, service and ambience.

The final item of the UOB birthday treat at Shinji Carlton Hotel was another memorable piece – the super sweet Japanese melon.
Shinji by Kanesaka Raffles Hotel is done up like a typical sushi restaurant in Japan. Simple light wood finish all round. We were seated at a long counter that accommodates about 16 customers.
19 reviews of Shinji By Kanesaka "I've only tried better sushi in San Diego's Nobu but hands down to this location. Recently moved to Singapore and I am always on a lookup for a new places and new go to restaurants and this will be one on my list…
You can still enjoy exquisite wagyu cuts at Black Cow’s sister restaurant, Shatoburian—a Japanese yakiniku restaurant that has an extensive menu of prized wagyu cuts.
Japanese Wagyu beef steak and glazed foie gras on rice with onsen egg which is not instagram-worthy as compared to the signature don was surprisingly enjoyable.
The service was generally okay and the staffs served promptly.
Service at Big Sake Bar is friendly, professional, and engaging.
All in all, we spent about $52 per pax for an evening of relaxed vibes, in good company and good food.
The resultant combination of fatty tuna and egg mixed with warm rice was surprisingly enjoyable. Delicate and smooth.
Overall, for the price of SGD 168 for 2 people, it is quite a value for money especially when it comes with a huge bottle of sake. The sake was very smooth and easy to drink while enjoying the meal. The dishes were well thought out with some interesting ingredients used and tasted good. The only disappointing factor for me was the tuna as I do have high standards for my tuna sushi after being spoilt in Japan
Niigata Koshihikari rice is used, and therefore you could taste that the rice is of better quality and fluffier.

With Japanese dons being served at such a quality and at such wallet-friendly prices, Rakki Bowl is a spot that would most probably attract the office workers within the City Hall/Beach Road neighbourhood for the days where one feel like sneaking a treat to reward themselves for the work week, as well as a spot for those who are into truffle wagyu beef dons to check out on weekends as well.
Honestly, unlikely for me. Not that it is a bad meal, but I was not impressed by any of the courses. While the lunch Omakase price is fairly competitive, I very much prefer what I had at Yuta or Sushi Yujo for a similar price range.
The atmosphere was cosy and serene, making this a great time-out spot for those working around the area.
