I can never resist fresh Hotate sashimi with just a dab of that grated wasabi. Though the pricing here is also a little high as compared to Koh Grill & Sushi Bar.

They were so understaffed that I waited at least 30 minutes for that bowl above, and the restaurant wasn't even full. Worse, the noodles were too soft, and the karaage was stone cold, as if it'd been sitting around for perhaps the same 30 minutes...and weirdly using some kind of cereal flake rather than batter.

I'm happy to report that Neon Pigeon's new menu has not only knocked my socks off on first trial but overall, it brings as much substance as style to the bustling food enclave of Keong Saik. Sure, the establishment may be filled with mini-dress strapping Caucasian women with voices building to a crescendo fuelled by cocktails, and the space gets just a little too claustrophobic at times.

Lastly, we sampled two desserts and by then, we were pretty stuffed. It's not often that I see warabi mochi on the menu but they have it here at Boruto. Made of bracken starch, and coated with kinako powder. It has a wobbly soft-jelly like texture and sweetness from the sauce. Almost like eating water.

In overview, the service was impeccable right from the moment we enter up to the point we stepped out of the restaurant. It was obvious how much emphasis they place on keeping their customers happy, from the complimentary customised desserts to the "namecards" that were presented to each diner at the end of the meal to encourage repeat patronage. The total bill inclusive of GST and service charge was $58.85. Although we would have preferred a wider variety of hotpot ingredients for this price, they certainly made it up with quality.
