Somehow Coco Ichibanya ranks tops for me and Japanese Curry, SAMA comes a close second.
I liked the savory base and tender meat. I should go eat at Suage more often too.
The shop is clean and spacious, and is open on Saturday as well. Place your order at the counter and choose the mains, then soup base and finally the spice level before making payment. Ice water is complimentary.
Takayama, the kappo-style Japanese fine dining restaurant by Chef Taro Takayama in OUE Downtown Gallery, has carved its mark as the place for authentic Japanese flavors. This Spring, it invites all for a taste of freshness with a menu curated from seasonal Spring specialties in ingredients like Awabi abalone, firefly squid, surf clams, strawberries, and more.
While a meal at Takayama doesn’t come cheap, the quality of the dishes is sublime and refined in a Japanese style dining ambience. Go for it if you enjoy kappo-style omakase, though you might want to save it for a special occasion.
A must-try item I feel is the Wagyu Teppanyaki (200gm/$27.80).
The amount of rice that they gave in that small bowl above was almost laughable though, so I topped up with their spicy tomato butadon, which I ended up liking a lot better.
Tokachi Tontaro makes Premium Butadon accessible and we can enjoy it in a beautiful, quiet ambiance - providing us a temporary respite from the rat race of Singapore's financial hub.
All the dons can be upsize to include Onsen Egg, Tofu salad and drink. Adding the Onsen egg and mix it together with the rice, definitely up the satisfaction by a notch.
Overall, while the prices are on the steeper side, it is understandable given the stall’s location. So, if you’re in the CBD area, you might want to head to Singapore Crawfish Ramen for a quick ramen fix!
Overall, I enjoyed Kotobuki and look forward to be back again, for their quality and delectable food at reasonable prices.
