Sushiro has bak kut teh ramen on its list of specials now, and it was better than I thought it would be with its peppery and garlicky broth.

Quality-wise, I think it still a notch behind some of incumbent kaiten sushi chain in Singapore.

For a fuss-free sushi dining experience, Sushiro is worth trying.

At IKYU, we placed great emphasis on fresh seafood and ingredients, our seafood and seasonal fruits & vegetables are flown directly from Japan Tsukiji Fish Market two to three times a week. Our menu is inspired by the deep impressions and experience acquired by our Master Chef culinary stints in USA, Paris and Japan. Some of Chef's specialties combine the cooking techniques, flavours, and presentation influenced by these places that he lived and worked in.

The service staff thoughtfully arranged for this course to be served last - a carby and filling one to say the least.

The interior of IKYU Japanese restaurant was quite un-Japanese. It occupies a dark space with exposed pipes, bare light bulbs, distressed walls and basic furniture.

A superb recommendation by the waitress, the Bincho Style Grilled Octopus ($45), sided by a capsicum sauce, was perfectly cooked and delicious on its own.

My favourite is still probably the freshly deep-fried tempura, and the Tendon. If you intend to head over, do note that the Tempura & Robatayaki counter seats at Ami Ami are on a first-come first-served basis.

To be honest, I’m still salty over the fact that my family’s plans to visit Okinawa a few years ago fell through, especially since the global pandemic has forced everyone’s borders shut.

Frankly, the Rantee and I were pretty underwhelmed by our experience here. There were no standout dishes, and this might just be Les Amis Group weakest link at the moment.

I liked the framed dynamic manga scenes hanging along the wall, which gives the space some character and brings out that fun aspect.

Located at Great World City, the venue might seem odd for some due to its accessibility but if that doesn't deter you, you would be rewarded with decent food and a more laid back, quiet setting compared to places like Orchard and Bugis.
