My Personal Opinion It serves one of the more crispy roti canai/telur I know and their sambal (which is closer to a Malay-style sambal) is pretty good too (I guess having Malay cooks help in this aspect as their goreng goreng dishes work). I also like that the place is considerably cleaner (and brighter) than most mamaks I've been to.

One of their signatures is their Asam Laksa. Their asam laksa served generously with the smooth lai fun. Topped with shredded cucumber, and also pineapple. The Malay style asam laksa comes simply good and delicious and we definitely fall in love with it.

I wouldn’t know if they taste good or not, but for the Milo Chicken Chop I can say it is good – in a weird way. Because the chicken chop itself is already spicy, it kind of evens out the sweetness of the Milo. Plus, if you dip it in their extra spicy sambal belacan, it tastes even better.

A visit to Cheese Banjir wouldn’t be complete without trying their famous Lamb Grill The Hulk Cheese Banjir (RM40). I had ABC (Mixed shaved ice dessert) only for lunch at MYR 8.50++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 9.86 nett). I find it delicious because I like the taste of the red rose syrup, vanilla ice cream and all the ingredients such as longan, corn, red beans, peanuts put together. They are also very smart to serve the coconut syrup separately in a small jug without me having to request them to do so. This way, I could adjust the sweetness to my preference. The coconut syrup tastes very strongly of coconut - just like those coconut candy wrapped in colourful transparent foil that we used to eat when young - which my friend does not like because she does not like the taste of coconut.

Nasi Ambeng for 2, 28 ringgit The Nasi Ambeng here consisted of white rice + Acar + Serunding Kelapa + Telur Masin + Sambal Belacan + Sambal Jawa + Kerabu Sayur + Terung Sambal + Keropok Belindo + Begedil + Ikan Kembung Belado + Gulai Ayam. Between the 2 of us, it was quite a feast. We didn’t know where to start. It was soo good. There was a burst of flavors – sweet, sour, hot and spicy. The Gulai Ayam was rich and milky with tender, juicy pieces of chicken. The Tempe had the usual peculiar taste, chewyness, the grilled Ikan Kembung with chili sambal was awesome. The terung/ brinjal was soft and moist, with thick sauce. The Kerabu had nuts and some sweetness in it, chewyness from the chopped vegetables. Mix all of these ingredients together … ho ma gawd, da bomb!

Not to be missed here is the Tauhu Telur (RM25), a popular street food from East Java in Indonesia. A soft, silky smooth egg beancurd is stacked and deep fried to golden brown perfection. Additional deep fried egg threads sit atop the beancurd to give extra crunch. My Personal Opinion I don't know how they could get such a fundamental thing wrong...and that is a bowl of laksa should be served hot! Maybe the workers at this outlet weren't trained properly. Maybe I was just unlucky. Maybe my bowl of laksa was left sitting in the pass for too long before being served. Maybe the worker didn't follow the SOP. I guess I will never know what exactly happened that day. P/S: Just the other day, I was having D'Laksa in Aeon (which I think is way better) and the server accidentally added 'har ko' (shrimp paste) into a customer's bowl (when she didn't want it). The server proceeded to assemble a new one and just threw out the other (I applaud their SOP, not allowing the bowl of laksa to sit at the counter and be compromised in the hope of serving it to another customer). I'm not sure if had they served me a piping hot bowl of assam laksa, my experience would had been any different as the flavours seemed too mild...or was it because the broth wasn't hot enough? I expected my taste buds to be 'tortured' (in a good way) when eating assam laksa...both by its spiciness and sourness....and I didn't get either. >_< I reckon that's pretty much the problem with franchised outlets, some are bound to be better than others. Choose your outlet wisely...kekeke! :P For me, they blew it with their fundamental mistake and I'm afraid there won't be a revisit for me.

One of the signature of Bao Xiang is their String Tied Bak Kut Teh. And this time, we tried their String Tied Bah Kut The which is served with the Big Bone. The pork leg is one of the most reowned ingredients in Chinese Cuisine and these are often used in preparing Bah Kut Teh. And in Pao Xiang, they prepared them using the cotton string tying method where they are not just delicious but also able to extract excessive fats from the meat too. The meat comes simply juicy and every mouthful is so good that I don’t mind having more.
