Verdict: The Wonton Mee didn’t impress us as much as I’ve expected because it is being listed as one of the Top 10 Wonton Mee to try in Klang Valley.
Difficult to complain a rm$5.50 plate of Wantan Mee, the "干撈燒腸雲吞麵 Dry Siew Cheong Wantan Mee" comes with 撈燒 Siew Cheong, 雲吞 Wantan, as well as dry Wantan Mee.
When you come to a place that has a food name in its name, you better order that dish to see if they did any justice adopting it. While not pictured here, the wantan was indeed quite massive by usual standard. But is bigger better? Like other things, it's a personal preference. For one, I don't care much about the size as long as it tastes good though it does make it easier to swallow if it's smaller. I'm still talking about wantan, btw. The noodles here were not shabby either, springy and taste good.
Overall, we enjoy the seafood noodles here and like that we can customise our bowls with the various ingredients. We have returned to this restaurant a few times since our first visit, and every bowl has been consistently good. We have also ordered takeaway for our mom who enjoys the noodles a lot as well. Senior-approved!
Back here again and I’m clearly loving this place. Unpretentious good bowl of fish noodles. Ordered a fish cake, a bowl of fishballs an...
This shop has been in operation for more than 30 years and used to be called Kedai Makan Teow Chew. I guess after the son took over the business it was renamed to its current name. You can expect pretty much the same experience in any seafood noodle shop where you get to customize your bowl of noodles to include the seafood to your budget and liking.
Likes: Lou Shu Fun, Guinness wings Dislikes: Xo Noodles don't have XO in it, rude service, lady boss thinks she is always right, walks off when the issue had not been resolved. Did not attempt to serve a new one / remove from the bill / resolve the issue by offering XO. Felt cheated by this establishment.
Coincidentally, we were going to catch Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children at Tropicana GSC at night time, so this time round we dropped by XO Fish Noodle for some simple, quick Chinese food outside of the mall since we couldn’t decide what to eat even after a brief touring in the mall earlier per se, haha.
I really like the broth of the fish head noodles and definitely don’t mind to come back for more!
For the grouper fillet mix soup noodle of Mr Fish, we opted for clear soup. The fried grouper fillets were extra crunchy and we liked it!
Food was nice. I liked the fact that the noodles used here were the thin version. I like it better this way because to me, it allows me to enjoy the overall dish better. Simply a matter of preference, I suppose. I ordered the Large/Big option here and it came with a lot of noodles. The taste overall was nice. My only issue was the pork meat itself. For a large portion, the meat seemed rather little and most of it was thinly sliced. It was just enough to provide you with a taste. Perhaps with the Small option, the portion may seem good enough but with the large, it was little. Besides that, it was all good
Luckily enough, they get their signature dish right. The noodles were springy. The gravy didn't suffer from being too salty. This (and only this) would be worth a return.
Spare Ribs Rice Rice lover can go for their Spare Ribs Rice. Enjoy the chunks of meat together with the generous portion of rice here. Love the flavours of the dish itself. The Spare Ribs Rice is simply delicious and every mouthful is packed with flavours.
There are quite alot on the menu and it will take some time to go through all of them.
Likes: Nothing. Possibly just the cucumbers. Dislikes: Everything. Stop marketing themselves as Yunnan Xiao Guo / Guo Qiao when it looks and tastes nothing like it. I'm totally fine if this is "just another noodle house". But please don't insult my favourite Xiao Guo Mi Xian...
