Since there were some hits and misses, Purple Taste recommends the freshly shucked oysters (during happy hour for happier pricing), the bread & dip (so that you won't go home feeling hungry), the octopus, a plate of salad, the delicious lobster roll (when you feel like pampering your date and yourself) and a drink. For the teetotaller, there's hot tea or apple juice. Expect to spend about $80 per pax (with one drink).

The Pelican Restaurant

1 Fullerton Road, One Fullerton, #01-01,, Singapore 049213

In the grand age of navigation, sighting a pelican signalled to seafarers that land was near and, with that, a homecoming to their loved ones... Today, we are inspired to recreate that same experience here at The Pelican.

Other worthy bites on Southbridge’s menu include addictive truffle and smoked pancetta bikini sandwiches, full-flavoured pulled pork sliders, and chilli crab croques that pay homage to our nation’s favourite seafood dish.

Besides the above average seafood and must-have nougat parfait, there are more compelling reasons to grace Gattopardo: Sauro remains one of few Italian veteran-chefs still cooking in the kitchen today and this, to us, is an investment that will pay dividend.

The restaurant was packed for lunch, reasonably priced at $37++ and looks set to takeover Tanjong Pagar with a Mediterranean wave.
