Yamaguchi Fish Market 山口水产 Restaurant

16 Jalan Kampung Pandan 55000 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Yamaguchi Fish Market is inspired by Karato and Tsukiji Fish Market in Japan where the team sought to bring not only the highest quality and freshest ingredients to seafood lovers but the energetic spirit of the vibrant market as well. The tanks of Yamaguchi Fish Market is filled with fresh catches from seasonal fishes to uni and king crabs that guests can either opt to dine-in and enjoy in a variety of delicious styles or purchase back home at wholesale prices. Diners will delight in a great variety of fresh-from-the-ocean sashimi and shellfish that the team directly picks up twice a week from the harbour and serve on the extensive and carefully curated menu. Yamaguchi Fish Market’s signature sashimi and grilled seasonal seafood platters is a rich mix of sashimi, shrimps, king crabs, oysters, clams and abalone. For palates of comfort food, the salt baked tai fish, Yamaguchi eel rice and seafood nabemono takes centrestage. As a marketplace that offers variety in abundance, Yamaguchi Fish Market also takes a local spin onto the ingredients by opening up its menu to offer dishes cooked in local flavors such as salted egg, garlic steam and superior soup.

Yamaguchi Fish Market is inspired by fish market in Japan which allows customer to choose seafood from the market and they will prepared for them either in sushi or sashimi for them to eat fresh. That's the original way how it was started but time goes by competition is getting harder, many came out with different idea. So does Yamaguchi Fish Market to have it in a restaurant instead of a market.

Inspired by the Chong Qing-Grilled Fish, Fatt Kee Roast Fish has recently gained a lot of attention from netizens due to its gigantic serving with loads of Seafood swimming in the huge pot. The concept is not new- Deep Fried Fish with Seafood (like Prawns, Squid, Flower Clams) and vegetables soaked in a spicy-savory Seafood broth; served in the way similar to Hot Pot/ Steamboat. The spiciness varies and can be tuned accordingly but the heat-intolerant should be extra careful on selecting the spiciness as it can be lip-burning hot. It can be then enjoyed just like an ordinary Hot Pot, with extra condiments like Udon, Vegetables and Seafood to be added. Do note that there are two branches and both locations are near to each other; one is air-conditioned while another one is al-fresco setting. The flavors were fun and the combination was exciting, a place worth visiting.

The latest outlet to join the Grand Imperial Group is located on the 9th Floor of Pavilion Elite. While it does serve the usual Chinese fares like dim sum, roast meats and oriental dishes, what’s very appealing to me is their Seafood Hotpot Hong Kong-style. Most of the seafood offered are live ones swimming in tanks in the restaurant.

We tried with the Canadian Lobster Rolls with Truffle Oil with the which is sinfully addictive. The Lobster Roll comes amazingly good and delicious where they are served with chunks of lobster meat with the added truffle oil which makes it even better. Sandwiched with the crispy bread and sides with the crunchy potato fries. While enjoying your sandwich, you can dip your chips in the dragon fruit tartar and wasabi mayo sauce which comes awesomely good. And not just that, the price comes simply affordable where they are priced at RM 69 ( full lobster) and RM 49 nett ( Half lobster)

Well, they say "one bite 'n' you're hooked"....well, I used to be but not anymore since I've now had the privilege of eating better fish & chips elsewhere. It's funny how things taste good at one time don't seem to be so later on in life (or vice versa, in some cases, like what bitter gourd used to be for me). I think it's because our tastebuds got elevated (over time) from all that eating....I know mine did! ;) But the fact that they continue to open more outlets (the latest one being in Sunway Velocity) goes to show that some still find their fish & chips worthy for its reasonable pricing and big portions.

Fish & Co. is a casual, full service, family chain restaurant serving fresh seafood in a pan. The unique dining experience drew inspiration from the simple practices of the fishermen in the Mediterranean Sea. There, fishermen cooked freshly caught seafood on board their boats and ate the seafood off the pan to ease their hunger pangs out in the sea.

I've posted about them some time ago that I like their seafood noodles (better than overrated B & Best in PJ). Their chilli is one of the signature item that makes the noodle so good - except the spice level went down over the years. I was not able to handle a spoon of chilli before but because they reduced the spiciness, I could definitely handle it now.
