Oh man, let me tell you about my faves from the menu! First, there's the emperor chicken with herbs - it's so tender and packed with flavor, you won't be able to get enough.
Ambience at Goldleaf Restaurant is modern and functional. The brightly lit place with ample natural light is minimally decorated, with modern furnishings lined neatly within the spacious seating area.
If you have not made any arrangements for the upcoming Mother’s Day, get in touch with Goldleaf. Other set menus are also available. Cheers!!
No doubt that the Bee Hoon was cut into shorter strands for us to consume easily, my guests and I found that our bowls of Laksa were a tad on the spicier side. Nonethess, what matter most was that they enjoyed our local food and got to taste it finally.
I should eat here more often.
328 Katong Laksa in Singapore defeated Gordan Ramsay in the 2013 Hawker Heroes Challenge. It is just that good. This is one of the two best laksa in Singa..
With a long history in Peranakan food, I was expecting more from them. Overall, I find that the food was quite ordinary and there are better ones out there I have tried.
Started in 1953, this restaurant boasts to be the oldest Peranakan restaurant in Singapore.
Overall dinner was pleasant with friendly service staffs and hearty homely feel dishes here.
The Original Katong Laksa - Janggut Laksa
This is perhaps the only laksa stall I will frequent in Katong. It is good, affordable and one of the best around in Singapore.
Nice curry laksa with robust savoury flavours balanced with coconut milk sweetness and gentle spicy heat.
It is still possible to savour Mr Tan's famed Hokkien Mee before he sells his business. If you have not tried it before, this may be the time to do so. To have a dish cooked by a living legend is not something you can brag about on an ordinary day.
The good thing about this place is that there is no GST or service charge, making it an affordable experience for something different.
The service is very personal, as chef Alan shared with us his life stories and if you are lucky, you might also hear him sing while dining as he used to be part of a band. Prices are inclusive with no service charge and GST. Head here for a no frills, comfort homecooked Peranakan meal.
The chicken was very tender and moist, and I cleared everything on that tray tonight.
To Hai Kee, I say well done for preserving local food – and my favourite childhood dish of all time!
As with all Asians (and all other nationalities) you just cannot simply ignore the fact that food plays a significant part in culture and tradition. Down south of Hong Kong towards Malaysia, you find Singapore, another cosmopolitan hub much akin to the island except that Hong Kong was very much borned out of British rule…
Worst of all, I've found that the quality of the food at these touristy seafood restaurants are generally a notch below their flagship branches.
I like the Ginger and Onion Fish Fillet ($14) at Jumbo. The fish is sliced thickly, smooth and soft in texture, and slightly coated in a delicate savoury spring onion and ginger-tinged oyster sauce.

Kota88 Siglap is one of the best restaurants you will find in Siglap, serving up Masakan Tionghoa authentic Indonesian food, check it out...
One of the best restaurants in Siglap is Kota88, serving up Masakan Tionghoa Indonesia food that is so authentic. Even the decor takes you back in time.
There are hits and misses in terms of food, but on the whole, IZA is a nifty casual gathering place with its cosy ambiance and neighbourhood shophouse appeal.
新加坡的餐馆越开越多,提供传统福建菜的餐馆却是越来越少。
Overall, we had a simple but very pleasant dinner at Spize Siglap restaurant. It is a beautiful restaurant with friendly and cheerful service staff. There is a good variety of food on its menu and the prices are very reasonable.
