Here's the location.
The Kolo Mee is good.
I love the noodle used for this kolo mee.
Good Service!! 5 Stars!!!!
If you can be bothered to put up with the potential irritations of the wait list, then I thoroughly recommend Haidilao. It’s expensive (at just over RM100 per person), but we left well fed, had a great time, and even managed to push that 2 hour window a little. Really fun dining experience.
HaiDiLao Hotpot was founded many years back and has expended to become a world-well-known hot pot restaurant
The ingredient serve here is fresh, good quality and the soup gives you the authentic Sichuan taste. There are also some small bites food apart from the hotpot where you can just munch on it while waiting for your hotpot food to be cooked.
Definitely a great hotpot experience, especially if you’re coming in a big bunch, the more the merrier.
Moreoever, we got to know the soup base was prepared, cooked and simmered a night before. No wonder we could savour a natural sweet taste and it is so addictive to enjoy the soup.
We highly recommend giving the lamb claypot with medium spicy a go!
all the people serving us...not look like local Chinese....they are Thai people I believe.
Stone pot steamboat serving original coconut broth with "kampung" chicken with strictly no MSG.
The soup was tasty from the addition of fish bones and flesh, further sweetened by the seafood and vegetables available. We ordered a set, which came with cuttlefish, fish slices, prawns and assorted fish balls. Fried beancurd, mushrooms and vegetables were also part of our set, which was good for 4 people.
If you like free an easy... you could just order the Set A, B or Elusive (Set A RM 88.00 "Recommended 2 to 3 people" , Set RM 168.00 "Same Item recommended for 4 to 5 people)
The restaurant was air-conditioned and kinda of small. Most of the tables were reserved when we reached there. We didn't make any reservation :P So, we were placed outside.
Our RM 188 package came with a range of ingredients such as fish maws, grouper fish slices, pork slices, cheese balls, fish balls with fillings, enoki mushrooms, prawns, abalone slices, Chinese sausages, tofu, vermicelli and etc. In our opinion, that is a competitively priced package which best shared among 6-8 adults. The soup itself offers a natural sweet taste but adding prawns to it gave the pot an elevated taste. You may request for fried shallots and chives to be added to the soup for better taste.
Eam Huat Charcoal Steamboat is known for its clear flavoured soup, made by boiling chicken bones, pork bones and fish bones. The steamboat is served piping hot in a traditional metal pot with a chimney holding the charcoal.
Handmade noodle made from fish meat Tender with fish taste in every bite. I liked this very much!! :p
The signature dish here, As You Like Signature Chicken Pot, is absolutely commendable.
Notable choices include the Kurobuta Pork Belly and Chives Dumplings; both were equally delicious in its own way. Though this is not something that we can eat on a regular basis, the superior quality of the ingredients stands out... not too bad for a change provided you have a little budget to spare
The long awaited dry steamboat with mud crab. RM88 for 2 mud crab in the dry steamboat while the white color soup is radish duck soup RM58. Refillable soup! So is the dry steamboat really good? YES, it is really really good. Crab are extremely fresh and fully absorb chili fragrance, we thought the spicy taste will overpower the crab sweetness but we are wrong, the crab still taste sweet and delicious. So how to eat dry steamboat? Well, they recommend us to finish all crab then they will pour water and we start eat soup steamboat as usual. The soup really taste good, spicy but flavorful.
I remain confused as to why Andrew’s Kampung is so wildly popular among tourists while many other similar restaurants don’t get half the attention. The prices are very fair for what you get, but the food didn’t blow my mind and the ambience is mediocre. I think this is a cut and dried case of TripAdvisor sheeping. However, this place does have the one thing that other restaurants do not, which is Andrew himself, who seems like a naturally friendly guy. I am not disappointed by my visit here, but I do not think I would come back. The hour-long wait for a table and food (even at 9pm – far too late for the dinner rush, isn’t it?) are not worth it to me.
We also had the Sizzling Beef (RM17.90) served on a hotplate. The beef was tender and flavorful... so good!
Zi Tian Jiao Steamboat Restaurant at Tanjung Tokong was recently taken over by a local owner instead of foreigner. The dishes and pricing also have been revised and the ambiance and decoration are still maintained. The revision of the food makes this place easier to accept by locals as the spiciness is not as extreme. The price is also diners friendly after the revision. My personal favorites at this restaurant are Chang Sha White Meat and Spicy Chicken Cube.
The pot was stir fried with ginger, peanuts, onions and garlic to give it a nice taste. Dried chilies were prominent in our pot as we picked the mild level of spiciness, though it was alright still in the heat produced (Chongqing spiciness should be insanely hot we believe). Overall it was a great pot to enjoy!
We personally recommend the Chicken slices... marinated in their own marination sauce- sweet, peppery and definitely unique in its own way. We also enjoyed how clear and clean the hotpot broth was.... well-seasoned with a bold vege sweetness
On the other hand, the ingredients menu is quite extensive, with the usual hotpot offerings of seafood, poultries, pork, beef, beancurd, vegetables, and noodles. The seafood was fresh and one that was absolutely sublime was the handmade bamboo shrimp paste served over ice
Overall, it was a really pleasant experience at Feng Wang Fu Hotpot in Penang.
The Mala Hotpot was alright either... it possessed the quintessential Mala flavor with reasonable saltiness. It was good that it was not overly seasoned and drowned in oil... the overall flavor combo was of satisfactory.

For a no-frills Thai Mookata experience, look no further than this curious space at Automall, Karpal Singh Drive. Affordably priced at Rm 19.90 for a basic set (serves 2), budget watchers can now enjoy delicious Thai Steamboat at unbeatable price, well-complemented with sea breeze. The simple set includes some basic meat balls, greens and meat but those with a deeper pocket can always top up extra few dollars for the additional spread. Bangkok Garden BBQ is not air-conditioned and instead, it relies on the sea breeze so the best time to visit would probably in the evening. The serving portion is not that great but it would be perfectly fine to be served as supper in lieu of a proper meal. Bangkok Garden BBQ can be found right next to Sae Ma Eul Korean BBQ Restaurant.
Yi Bing Qing is a big name when it comes to steamboat restaurant in Penang, the well-established steamboat restaurant is known to serve some of the best Teo Chew styled Fish Head Hot Pot in town. The signature Fish Head Hot Pot would consist Deep Fried Fish Head and meat in milky broth, Yam, Cabbage and Pork Balls, additional items can be ordered at additional costs. The restaurant is fully air-conditioned but in the event the place is fully occupied, diners may be required to be seated outside (if they are willing to). Advance reservation needs to be made early to avoid disappointment, walk-in as early as possible otherwise.
Our main dish of the day- Classic Lou Sui Noodles with Pork Lards was not shabby... chewy noodles tossed in Pork Lards and Lou Sui sauce, served with various toppings but the serving portion was way too small to fill our tummies.
