Initially hesitant about trying Siam Road Charcoal Char Kuey Teow due to trying a different CKT place, I eventually decided to give it a try. However, the experience wasn't the most pleasant due to the non-air-conditioned setting and an extensive queue. The uncle cooking the CKT prepared each plate individually, leading to a considerable wait.
Siam Road CKT remains close to the hearts of many.
Its good and ddfinitely Penang.

Eaten over a few days. The best of these were the char koay teow (smoky and fragrant), wan tan mee (nicely savoury), and bbq chicken wings (sweet and crispy outside). The lor bak and or luah were not bad. Can stay away from the satay (a bit dry) and char koay kak (indeterminate flavour).

You'll find amazing classic Penang street foods such as Assam Laksa, Char Kuay Teow, O'chien (Oyster Omelette), and even local desserts like Ice Kacang! The best part is everything we tasted here was delicious!

I was told that the Ice Kacang here was the limelight as it has long been in existence for at least centuries tickling the tastebuds of the local folks here. Hence, the bowl was definitely to be missed alongside some savoury light bites, just to get the tummy sorta warmed up before proceeding to Moody Cow Dessert Cafe Penang- shall update that in 18 hours (=

It seems that this is the thing to get at Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, with multiple stalls here serving it. It was basically like a rojak with a rather sweet and spicy sauce. I picked so many things that I couldn't finish.
This is the last stall nearby Wendy’s. Nasi Lemak CiliBilis is one of the best nasi lemak you can find int his food court. Steam fragrant rice, and their sambal is a must. Add fried chicken if you like which is crispy .

To be clear, this isn't on Sentosa island in Singapore, but rather the name of an open air kopitiam in Bukit Mertajam on the mainland side of Penang (1 Jalan Sentosa). My teammate suggested this place for lunch today, as it is well-known among locals on the non-touristy side of Penang.
There are so many options here that you can’t help but visit every day just to try out everything on their menu.

One of the Penang famous curry mee stalls is located at Mount Erskine Hawker Center and the curry mee at this stall is fast selling. The curry mee will normally finish before 10 am. The taste of the broth is very thick and packed with coconut milk flavour while the chili paste is very aromatic. The cuttlefish here is soft and juicy. It is a must-try curry mee.
My hotel is right down the street from Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, so I hopped on over to see what I could get for a quick snack. That assam laksa above was a requisite item, and was much punchier than I was expecting, with a potently sour broth, lots of dietary fiber, and an occasional bit of stank in there.
