Sauteed Sliced Lamb with lemongrass, onions & crispy spring roll RM18.90 The lamb was really nicely sauteed, it was fragrant and flavourful without overpowering the natural flavour of the lamb, but still keeping the natural flavour at a minimum, so the overall olfactory experience was above satisfactory.

Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi tastes delicious. The sauce has a good kick of spicy in it and all the ingredients goes well together. However, my boyfriend commented that the chicken tastes frozen to him. Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi @ RM 12.90

Last week, we checked out Super Saigon Pho Cafe in TTDI and there is just so much to love about the place - the amazing decor, the delicious food and great coffee. Expect to find authentic Vietnamese dishes on the menu, inspired by Melbourne's popular Vietnamese eateries. Super Saigon uses fresh ingredients such as premium cuts of imported Australian beef, chicken, fresh herbs and aromatic ingredients to ensure every dish is executed well. Lemongrass Pork (MYR 16) Generous serving of pork slices stir-fried in lemongrass, turmeric and Vietnamese fish sauce, and topped off with a sunny side-up atop a bed of warm fragrant rice. Another enjoyable fuss-free grub!

My favourite at Nguyen's is the Fried Chicken Wings (RM12.00 for 3 pcs) as very addictive. We ended up ordering at least 3 plates of it. Deep-fried to a nice dark brown, it has a crispy skin while its meat is still juicy.

Likes: Authentic and cheap Vietnamese food - possibly one of the best I've had so far in Klang Valley. Those who thinks Pho Vietz is good should try this first. Pho Vietz is no where near authentic! Dislikes: They tend to "forget" some ingredients. For eg, my favourite tendon was not added into the mixed noodle bowl on our second visit. I think they've got to pay attention to what they are preparing...

Overall Rating: 7/10 for the food, environment and customer service. I would say that the dishes served is definitely value for money, for its huge portions and of reasonable taste. However, I still have slight preference for Festival City in KL but would definitely return.

BBQ Lemongrass Chicken Chop (RM16.90) is a refreshing upgrade to the standard chicken chops we’re used to. The lemongrass accent brings about an interesting dimension to the barbecued chicken, giving it a distinctly Asian taste.

Whether you are opting for the Chicken Ham Bánh Mì (RM13.90) or Beef Ham Bánh Mì (RM15.90), both are generously filled with slow cooked meat slices along with some pate, pickled vegetables, mayo sauce and cilantro. Solid flavours with good balance of savory and sweet with a subtle tang and heat. The sandwich is sufficiently moist with lots of textural components that the classic sandwich is famous for.

Verdict : This is a great place to dine in, whether it be for the fabled Vietnamese coffee, or just to have a taste of Hanoi. This place boasts mainly Hanoi styled food. It’s more than just Banh Mi, and the other dishes do equally as well, if not at times better than the Banh Mi! While you’re at it, do get the drinks as well.

Look at the glorious omelette, golden-yellow in colour, with molten cheese overflowing out. Looks pretty good, but tasted better than good. We loved this sandwich to bits! The creamy egg, savoury molten cheese, crunchy preserved daikon & carrots just come together so perfectly.

Instead I had spring roll and pork chop dry vermicelli (thick mee hoon) with lots of raw vegetables such as raw beansprout (taugeh), cucumbers, lettuce, basil and pickled carrots at MYR 14.06++ (MYR 16.30 nett after 10% service charge and 6% SST). A sweet and sour fish sauce is provided to mix into the vermicelli but I returned it immediately when it was put on the table and the staff was so surprised. I guess he does not understand how anyone could eat this dish without any sauce but I like it this way without any sauce.

Pho is my ultimate favourite Vietnamese dish, and the version at Super Saigon is so good with its clear, flavorful broth. I went for the Medium Rare Sliced Beef & Tendon Pho (RM18.90), with an add-on of firm, juicy beef balls (RM4). I like how the beef is now served rare, so it cooks ever so slightly when you dunk it in the soup for the perfect doneness. It's wonderful that they offer unlimited beansprouts and Thai basil to go with your pho too. What a satisfying bowl of noodles!
