The service is fast despite the crowd. Really love the signature Ice Lime Tea, good the refreshing kick. My favourite food here would be Steamed Rice Roll + Fried Spring Roll (like Chee Cheong Fun..
The resto has undergone some renovation since our last visit; the dining area is much more spacious now and they’ve even made a couple of raised wooden ‘gazebos’ indoors. The corner for imported Vietnamese snacks and sundry (noodles, sauces, paste, etc.) has also been upgraded. The open outdoor seating is now covered, which provides some shade from the heat in the daytime.
Another dish I recommend trying is the lemongrass chicken with fried rice. Lemongrass is a popular herb used in many Vietnamese dishes, and the flavour permeates throughout the tender, juicy whole fried chicken thigh.
The Hanoian Style Grilled Pork with Vermicelli (RM18.90) is so good! The well-seasoned pork patties and tender grilled pork belly slices sit in a sweet and tangy broth. We scoop generous amounts over the tender vermicelli noodles. The whole dish is brightened with large sprigs of fresh herbs and lettuce leaves.
Besides the usual Vietnamese meaty rice and noodle meals, it also offers Vietnamese vegetarian recipes.
This is one of the crowds favourite which you can give it a try too. CANH CHUA NGAO NƯỚC DỪA Clam in Coconut Broth @ RM 14.90. Soup is quite solid in taste and clam is fresh. Love the balance of taste of lemon grass which is not overpowering that can taste the actual broth base.
Think of Vietnamese food, think of Beef Phở! And where can you have the best and the most authentic now that travel restrictions are still in place? You don’t have to look too far…check out Ăn Viet @ Gurney Plaza.
An Viet, a popular Vietnamese food joint in Malaysia has recently introduced the Beefiest Pho (also has an outlet at Gurney Plaza)... an improvised version to their existing recipe, creating a beefier version of Pho broth. This is also in line with the brand's passion to constantly enhancing existing dishes to excite their regular patrons. The broth is cooked for hours to fully accentuate the deep, beefy flavors.
I actually love the overall taste and the sweetness of prawn and sugarcane. One stick.. two... three..10 sticks shouldn't be a problem for me haha..
What do We Like about An Viet? -Tasty and authentic Vietnamese food -The Bun Cha’s dressing was flavourful, the soup with clams had us wanting for more
Grilled Lemongrass Chicken (GÀ NƯỚNG XẢ ỚT) – RM19.90/set The were 2 big slabs of chicken meat skewed in lemongrass and put to grill. The chicken meat was nicely grilled and well marinated.
I have really enjoyed the scrumptious flavours of Vietnamese cuisine at Ăn Viet. There’s plenty of dishes that easily caters to every one of all ages. Portions are generous for the price and I would certainly return for the following dishes of Xoi Chien Phong, Banh Trang Nuong, Pho Bo, Bun Cha and Grilled Lemongrass Chicken!
Coffee is not the only drinks available here, you can try their Lychee Tea drinks too or to order something different from their menu. Dessert like pudding is also available. It is really nice dining here at Saigon Bowl, service is good and food serving is fast too. My personal favorite food here is definitely their Pho and Coffee.
Overall, Saigon Bowl is a decent place to dine in. Service is good, environment is nice and clean. In terms of food, i feel it is average.
Ends your meal with their signature Vietffogato where it is the Vietnamese version of Affogato. Using the coconut ice cream, coconut cream and Vietnamese coffee combination, the Vietffogato brings you with an umph! I am loving the fragrant coffee blend which is well paired with the coconut ice cream.
The beef slices usually are cook half raw, as when you dip into the piping hot soup, then it will be just perfectly cooked. For only beef slices noodle, you get to taste their soup more prominent. The half cook raw beef. Just perfect.
Also ordered a steamed clam (originally wanted grilled octopus / spicy balitong but they ran out), which turned out surprisingly tasty. The clams were fat and meaty, and the broth was clear and sweet, without overpowering the seafood flavours.
The pho soup was very flavorful, with lime juice squeeze into soup, it brought more flavor out from the soup. Very appetizing and can’t stop drinking it with the rice noodle. Didn’t feel thirsty after the meal (hear say indicator whether excessive MSG was used 🙂 ). The beef slices were tender even though it were well done.
Sauteed Sliced Lamb with lemongrass, onions & crispy spring roll RM18.90 The lamb was really nicely sauteed, it was fragrant and flavourful without overpowering the natural flavour of the lamb, but still keeping the natural flavour at a minimum, so the overall olfactory experience was above satisfactory.
Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi tastes delicious. The sauce has a good kick of spicy in it and all the ingredients goes well together. However, my boyfriend commented that the chicken tastes frozen to him. Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi @ RM 12.90
For our dinner, we ordered a sliced beef pho (junior) and a stir fried lemongrass chicken noodle. The junior size of sliced beef pho was just right for us as we were opting for lighter meal after a heavy lunch. The sliced beef were still in beautiful pinkish medium rare when served. Few stirs in the hot soup has turned it quite well done.
Nice, but bit pricey for me.
Hubby had the Traditional banh mi, with red pork and pate (RM12.50). The bread was nice and crusty, yet soft on the inside. Love the sound of a good bread as you bite into it. They also do a grilled pork version which we will try on our next visit.
The Chicken Noodle Soup here is serve hot, making it really nice to sip on the hot soup while eating the noodles. The staff here is generous with the amount of ingredient put into the Chicken Noodle Soup and the serving portion is reasonable too. Service here is good but food serving is slow.
Here's the location.
Diners can anticipate in looking forward to enjoying authentic classics such as Phở, Bánh Mì, Bánh Cuốn, Vietnamese coffee, and desserts too.
Chef's recommendation is the Smoked Duck Pho ~ Flavourful rice noodles dish consists of chicken broth, fresh slurpy rice noodles, a sprinkling of chopped scallions and coriander, fresh herbs and generous slices of Smoked Duck.
Overall, I am really satisfied with my dining experience here as the foods and drinks were prepared in the most quality manner, the portion was really generous, the environment that temporary transported you to somewhere in Vietnam that you missed, the friendly and lovable staffs that will assist you and guide you especially on the proper way of tasting the authentic Vietnamese cuisine and last but not least, the reasonable prices for the memorable dining experience here at Rasa Viet.
That was a very satisfying ketovore (keto-carnivore) lunch. I enjoyed sipping the broth but there was too much for me to finish. Burp!
I took a sip of the broth and thankfully, it was good. Much better than Pho Vietz but not as good as Pho Real. But good enough for me.
We try three delicious bowls of soupy Vietnamese goodness which you can get from this place in PJ - Beef Stew Noodle, Lemongrass Pork Vermicelli and of cours...
Chicken Ham Rice Noodle (RM14.90) Comment: A healthy meal with huge portion of chewy rice noodles, thick slices of chicken ham and fresh vegetables. Very filling.
[Pork-free, Muslim-friendly] A franchise originating from Hanoi Vietnam, Cong Caphe offers excellent Vietnamese coffee and food.
We opted for the Hanoian Coffee (RM13.90) – coffee with condensed milk. If you know (and love) Vietnamese coffee – they are usually super “kau”!
Serving portion of the food here is very big, to me, i feel it is worth the money paid.
Grilled Beef in Betal Leaves is an uncommon dish... minced Beef wrapped in Betel Leaves and grilled to perfection, served with Vermicelli Noodles and Vietnamese dips. D'Viet House served it in a creative way- by way of Vietnamese Spring Rolls. The fun of eating this dish is that you will need to wrap it yourself. The texture of the Betel Leaf-wrap was good either- meaty, firm and not overly dry. The flavor combo was of course, delicious in its own way.
This time I had the Lemongrass Stir Fried Pork as topping for the vermicelli salad. I absolutely love this Vietnamese salad.
I cannot resist my favorite flat rice roll.
As usual, I can't resist the Flat Rice Roll which has become my favorite side dish.
They serve amazing Vietnamese food. A must try in Malaysia !!! 💖 Love their Banh Cuon, Banh Mi 🌭, Pho 🍜 and drink taste like cendol !!! 💋🤤😋 amazing taste… The ambience is striking, so bright…
Instead I had spring roll and pork chop dry vermicelli (thick mee hoon) with lots of raw vegetables such as raw beansprout (taugeh), cucumbers, lettuce, basil and pickled carrots at MYR 14.06++ (MYR 16.30 nett after 10% service charge and 6% SST). A sweet and sour fish sauce is provided to mix into the vermicelli but I returned it immediately when it was put on the table and the staff was so surprised. I guess he does not understand how anyone could eat this dish without any sauce but I like it this way without any sauce.
Slice Beef Noodle is a perfect choice for beef lovers. The soup is flavourful and the sliced beef is tender and juicy that it just melts in the mouth. Yum!! Slice Beef Noodle @ RM 23.90
The Nguyen’s Pork Chop Noodles is really good. The egg noodles are beautifully topped with the fried minced pork, topped with the crispy pork lard and spring onions . Yummz !
So next time when you are craving for some tantalizing Vietnamese dishes, you know where to head to.
Lemongrass Pork (MYR 16) Generous serving of pork slices stir-fried in lemongrass, turmeric and Vietnamese fish sauce, and topped off with a sunny side-up atop a bed of warm fragrant rice. Another enjoyable fuss-free grub!
There are plenty of dishes to dig into and the Stir-fried Blood Cockles with Garlic is a must-have dish. The briny sweetness of cockles, oil, and garlic is all that is needed to have the simple dish done right.
Vietnamese cuisine is gaining its popularity recently, evidently seen from the numerous Vietnamese eats around Georgetown to compete in offering the best and authentic Vietnamese flavors to Penangites. Saigon House Cuisine is a new kid on the block, setting foot in one of the shop houses at Bahari Parade, Sri Bahari Road. Like most Vietnamese restaurant, Saigon House Cuisine has a bible-thick menu which features most of the classic and traditional Vietnamese eats. The atmosphere is comfortable for a casual meal or family dinner, with acceptable prices. Except the parking, Saigon House Cuisine can be a decent choice when it comes to Vietnamese food in Penang.
In the end, I had to order something else and went with the Crispy Spring Rolls @ RM13.90 (for 6 pcs) wrapped in minced chicken and prawns, served with a sweetish-sourish dip containing pickled vegetables of carrot and jicama. The rolls were freshly fried, came piping hot, were super crispy and had a good ratio of filling...so, no complaints on this.
Reasons to visit Super Saigon Ampang: come for the beef pho, get your caffeine kick with a strong iced coffee, and appreciate it all in a pleasant, cheery setting.
Verdict: Food prepared by Vietnamese and there was a group of Vietnamese customers in the restaurant when we was there, the authenticity of the food was unquestionably. Good portion, good flavours and reasonable priced, we certainly love to make a return to further their menu.
Overall it was a good meal, just adequate for the three of us. The next time we come here, we won't make the mistake of coming here half full, it will be on an empty stomach so that we can savour more of their authentic dishes.
Overall it was a good meal, just adequate for the three of us.
