On the other hand, Basque Burnt Cheese Cake (RM 14) has an overall nice taste, retaining a nice custardy and creamy texture in the centre, though the crisp and burnt sensation was lacking at the exterior.
Here's the location.
I went for the fish & chips, sea bass (RM38.00)ā¦the instant I saw in the menu that it wasnāt dory and yes, it was really good.
Their braised beef short ribs (RM26.00)ā¦which was very nice, very tasty with the delightful mushroom gravy but though it wasnāt tough, quite tender, in fact, it was not fall-off-the-bone. I certainly would love it a lot more if it had been so. Probably it was because we were early, soon after they opened for the day, and I had to wait a VERY long time for the dish to be served. It probably would have been nicer if they had cooked it a little bit longer.
She had the fish and chips with tartar sauceā¦and got two huge slabs and we had to tapao one as she could only manage one. No, it was not because it wasnāt nice ā as a matter of fact, we thought the crusty tasty batter was so very good that it made up for the kind of bland taste of the fish, dory! They did it pretty well here and the texture was like fish, not jelly like at some places and that will put me off instantly.
Thisā¦stole the show. We could not figure out what it was ā it looked like sausage cut into bite-size bits, pierced through with a skewer and grilled. I did ask one of the waiting staff members but she said she did not know and I did not bother to pursue the matter after that. It tasted something like ham or bacon and we all loved it!
I also ordered their seafood pasta aglio olio (RM28.00)ā¦and yes, this was very good, very generous with the herbs used and that gave it a really nice fragrance and flavour. They use their own-made pasta here ā I always see them sharing the photographs on their Facebook page and it looked like there were two types in what we had ā yellow and greenā¦
We ordered the Ceasar salad (RM18.00)ā¦to share and the moment it was served, my girl remarked that the egg would surely get my nod of approval. Indeed, I was delighted to see the soft, runny yolk. Perfegg!!!
My girl wanted their pizza mascarpone but they were out of the vegetable for the topping, the aragula so in the end we settled for their Pizza Prosciutto e Funghi (RM32.00)ā¦that we had here before and yes, the one here was all right as well.
I went for the sizzling nasi biryani with beef rendang (RM15.90)ā¦except that it was not sizzling when it was served but I really enjoyed itā¦a lot!
This bowl of stewed pork rice (RM7.90)ā¦that I would not mind ordering sometimes as they do it pretty well here plus the complimentary soupā¦with tiny cubes of tofu and sweet corn that comes with some of their dishes is very nice as well.
My girl wanted their sizzling barbecued honey spare ribs (RM25.20)ā¦so of course, whatever she wants, she gets! It was as nice as before and had the very familiar corn-on-the-cob and sweet peas but instead of the wedges, they now served this bowl of potato gratinā¦in a bowl separately alongsideā¦and yes, my girl loved that too. She was worried initially that she would not be able to finish as the serving was huge and would probably have to enlist my help but her fears were absolutely unfounded ā she licked everything clean! LOL!!!
I stopped by to buy one (cendol ice cream)ā¦to try. Yes, it was nice but I would say both are nice but this one is a little cheaper ā I think that was only RM2.50 a cone.
Iām sure everyone would be able to tell why I was not in the least impressed when I opened the paper cup/bowl (nasi lemak mcd). That fried egg was an absolute disasterā¦but thankfully, everything underneathā¦looked pretty good.
Chicken chop (RM9.50)ā¦with mushroom sauce ā I guess that alone would be quite filling already seeing that the serving here is usually quite big.
I had the fried rice with masak hitam beef (RM8.00)ā¦and that somewhat disastrous-looking fried egg on topā¦but thankfully, the yolk was still soft and runny so never mind the look, it was to my liking even though I am very sure the guy is quite capable of doing a much better job at it like this one that I had here beforeā¦
I had the nasi lemak (RM4.50)ā¦No, this is not my favourite in town ā there is only a slight hint of the lemak-ness (richness owing to the santan/coconut milk added). However, I do enjoy the one here as I would usually request for the curry chicken/beef or masak hitam beef to go with it. Even without those, it is still very nice as they are very generous with the very nice sambalā¦
WEDNESDAY SPECIAL LUNCH MENU Only RM9.90nett per main course BeefRendang PastaLemak BatteredFishandChips
Ideal for budget tight young couples looking for romantic cozy valentine dinner. We spent Rm42.00 in total including an expensive chocolate peng (Rm12). The foods are Rm15 per set (main dish + dessert/soup)
I decided to throw caution to the wind and order the butter prawns (RM20.00)ā¦as we had not had that for a while now. Usually, we would go for the creamy or butter scotch or honey āprawn ballsā ā prawns without head or shell, all curled up into a ball after cooking as it seemed to be cheaper that way. I expected whole prawns like the ones we had that evening to cost a hand or a foot but it did not turn out to be very expensive, after all and of course, the best part would be the fact that they did it really well. The buttery fibrous egg topping was perfectly done and we sure enjoyed this dish very much.
I tried the steamed meat pao (RM2.00)ā¦and it was quite good ā I like paos with egg in it
I tried a bit of the soup and it was really good, so very tasty, bursting with the flavours of the serai (lemon grass) and all the herbs and spices that went into the cooking. Perhaps it is not the usual practice to add some greens but I think they do add taugeh (bean sprouts) usually and there was none in the bowl I had.
I got carried away and I took the daging masak hitam (black-cooked beef) and the nice chicken rendang that I had with my nasi lemak on our last visit here and of course, I simply couldnāt resist the chicken liver
My girl enjoyed the beef pepperoni pizzaā¦I did not notice the fine print but looking at the cashierās receipt, I noted that they charged RM5.50 for stuffed crust. I just had a slice, the mum had two and my girl sure enjoyed her three.
I ordered this brinjal with minced meat (RM16.00)ā¦to share and it was indeed very good. I am not really into this vegetable and I had had others elsewhere and while my girl who is so into it always enjoyed the dish, it never really turned me onā¦except this time around. The sauce was very nice and was quite spicy too.

I counted five, all very fresh, very succulent and firm and sweetā¦but all of them were very small and they could have garnished the dish with a sprinkling of chopped spring onion and/or daun sup (Chinese celery) and a few bits of sliced fresh, red chili for a bit of colour.
Suft & turf have meat and fish, including mutton and beef. If you want to eat, you can choose fish or healthy pasta. Taste so good. It's good to try.
However, the main reason why I wanted to bring my daughter here for dinner was because I wanted her to enjoy their roast rack of lamb served with mint sauce and some garlic and ginger dipā¦ā¦and my girl enjoyed it to the max. It sure looked like they had worked on improving their presentationā¦ā¦too but no, it did not come cheap ā I had to fork out RM50.00 for the three thick slabs but one thing I must say is that I am pleased that that was exactly the same price I paid way back in 2014 for two much bigger slabs of the meat and after all these years, it was as good as it was then.
The waffle and pancake were fine and so were the sausage and the baked beans
Just went to the Jinhe Hotel Apartment opposite the Miri Airport and ate their buffet. It's a little spicy, but it's good. RM48 just the great value.
Their club sandwichā¦It was all right, nothing great ā I had club sandwiches a whole lot nicer elsewhere.
We had the aglio olio bacon pasta (RM16.00)ā¦which was good, of course, since there was bacon too
My girl liked her Eggs Benedict with guacamole salsa(RM19.00)ā¦ā¦but I thought they could work on dishing out better looking poached eggs⦠They were perfect, still runny but I would like to see a smoother, better rounded edge.
The lamb shank (RM42.00)ā¦looked like it had been stewed over and over again for a long time but it was quite all right insideā¦
