Crispy tasty PB & J Waffle with nice contrasts in textures and flavours, with peanut butter, seasonal berries, fruit preserve, vanilla ice cream, and importantly, very interesting gula melaka granola.
Amber Ember is a nice cafe where you can slow down and unwind. It has a limited menu but the food is interesting. The coffee is good.
Although the food has thought put in them and isn’t the usual cafe fare, it is strange to pair complicated food in a minimalist setting. They should have kept the food easy breezy. Less is more. We spent $66 for two persons, including service charge but there is no GST.
Tachinomiya makes a comfortable hangout for those in the neighbourhood. They have affordable lunch sets and a variety of rice bowls if you want to have a full meal, but the mains we ordered weren’t impressive. Instead, we’d opt for finger food and sides to go along with our drinks.
To be honest, their sleek display of alcohol on glass shelves looks pretty impressive, doesn’t it? It was a pity that we did not manage to taste some of their alcohols as we made our trip down on an early afternoon.
Overall, I loved the grilled meat at Buddy Hoagies for its taste and affordable price tag. There are a lot more dishes which I would love to try like their Rosti, pasta and baked rice. I would definitely visit their nearer outlet to try other dishes and hopefully, the other outlets can give me the same nostalgic atmosphere
The modern European menu I had didn't showcase their philosophy of embracing local and cultural Asian flavours.
I was surprised by the Fried Hiroshima Oysters (Kaki Fry) with an eggy house tartare sauce (+$8). The oysters were plump and juicy and exploded with freshness. Recommended!
Having tried some of the items on the brycnh menu of Allium, we liked how the various dishes were simple, hearty, yet delicious — well thought-out dishes with familiar local flavours yet with a modern twist that is ever so refined and elegant.
This certainly looks like a café to chill after lunch, or meet clients. If I may suggest, what’s missing are free WIFI and power sockets for it to be a more work-friendly space.
You can sit by the window and admire the view outside. It overlooks a huge field.
Although Foxhole cafe is relatively new, it is one of those cafes that I would return again and again as there are more hits than misses.
Service was decent though there was an instance where the staff served us the Ham & Cheese Croissant telling us it was the Chili Crab Croissant (my dining partner does not eat seafood) — things that can definitely be improved on.
Overall, the food was not too bad but the service could be friendlier though.
I love cheese, and came to Fat Monkeys with high expectations that were well lived up to. Good service, high-quality food and enjoyable company – ten out of ten would recommend!
All in all, the ambience was good, music not loud, and nice selection of alcohol & spirits.
Can accommodate large groups and unique prata flavours
Highly recommended!
Artisanal ice cream is a new creation by the folks behind Bakerzin. Had a try at their Chocolate and Vanilla flavoured ones which were pretty sweet in my opinion.
The coffee BBQ sauce does not overpower but gives one a subtle kiss of flavour that lingers on the tongue. Simply addictive!
