The servings are quire huge although the slightly pricy as all ingredients used is quite fresh. Conclusion, what a sinful dinning experience but wonderful dishes and friendly waiters. Rating: 9 /10
Stew Lamb with carrots at MYR 28.90+ (10% service charge = MYR 31.80 nett). The lamb shank is cut into 5 pieces and there is a lot of mashed potato so I kept 3 pieces of the lamb meat and half the mashed potato for lunch the next day. This price is lower than the price of the lamb shank here so it is value for money. Warm water is provided foc so all 4 of us did not order any drink.
Mixed Sausage Platter where you get to choose 4 sausage of your choice accompanied by potato salad or mashed potatoes and sauerkraut grilled sausages are served with onion sauce. This is a must order because sausages is the highlight! You will get to try different kind of sausages and yes, every single of them tasted very different. You may want to ask the waiter/waitress if you wish to know the name of all the sausages before you eat, which we did not do. So at the end we only know the thin and long one is nice, but we don’t know what sausage is that.
The Nasi Lemak Pork Rendang attracts me when I looked at the menu. I am loving how the fragrant nasi lemak is done with the fragrant blend of coconut rice together with the generous portion of pork rendang together with the cucumbers, anchovies, kangkung and half an egg.
No question that definitely like this hidden bar, with so much booze to choose from and if other food items in the menu are as good as tonight's mutton varuval, then good food as well.
Of course there are some that I really enjoyed- all Tea Garden, LC 1 (RM 32) and Kopi Ice (RM 35) were all super easy to drink. I’ve always dislike eggwhite in cocktail but I do not dislike this, probably because of the floral hints from lavender. Despite looking ordinary, I am putting LC1 and Kopi ice as a strong contender for one of the tastiest cocktail for the night.
This is quite an atas place. The pork rib is pretty good, but the side dishes are quite disappointing. The roasted mushroom is good, but the bacon bits is not crispy. Reservation is recommended.
If you notice all the food we ordered, there is lots of bacon and cheese and we loved it. The food here is good and we don’t mind coming back again. What we can say is what you pay is what you get.
Lat Tali Lat - located on the same row as Fish & Noodle House, Damansara Kim, PJ - the daily lunch sets do offer workers nearby a good value meal with rice, meat, vege, egg, soup and a drink for about MYR16 nett.
Grilled lemongrass pork chops RM30 The pork chop was tender and juicy, with an unpared fragrance from the lemongrass, a flavour which reminds me of the Thai and we are a big fan of. The rice was fragrant, and firm, great when paired with the salted egg yolk sauce, which is buttery, creamy and savoury. The taste and presentation wise, this dish absolutely deserves a 5/5, but what's upsetting was the fact that the portion needed a major upgrade in order to feed a normal adult.
The last time I ate at S.Wine was in 2014 at Publika Mall. Nearly 3 years on, we celebrated a co-worker's birthday during lunch time at S.Wine Cafe in Tropicana City Mall. This restaurant is more spacious and has more greenery in it than the one in Publika so I prefer the ambiance here.
You can certainly wine and dine on swine here but I would strongly recommend some salads to go with your mains, otherwise the meal may end up to be too much meat in one sitting. Having said that, all their salads also come with some kind of meat...be it pork belly, pork neck, bacon, sausage or chicken....and costing as much as a main (this was the very reason why I didn't want to order a salad in the first place). And since I didn't order any salads, I'm also not sure if the salads or more heavy on meat or greens. Although my dining experience didn't turn out all that well for me, I'm not going to pin the blame on the food or come to a conclusion about the food here. I blame myself for possibly making the wrong choices where the dishes contained some ingredients that weren't to my liking to begin with. But one thing I'm sure is the overly porky taste of the pork...at this place....and many other similar porky places that I'm weary of such places nowadays. Am I destined not to enjoy this kind of pork? But if you don't suffer from an overly piggy taste profile (like me), feel free to try out this place to see if you like it. It's a place for people who loves meat, meat and more meat! ^_*
My Personal Opinion This more than made up for our 'not-so-happy meal' earlier. Definitely a good place for some light bites (even dinner) with a good selection of wines as accompaniment. The menu may be short and simple but with an eye on taste and quality. You know what, I'm slowly starting to appreciate wines...some wines at least.....and that's me taking baby steps....haha! ;) If you need a place to chill....sip on some good wines...and snack on some good (albeit limited) finger food, you know where to go.
Reasons to visit: A good selection of fine wines all in one place, with simple well-matched food that will enhance the best qualities in your glass.
Verdict: To be honest, I didn’t have high expectation on the food served at a gastrobar but surprising some of the dishes we had were above average especially the lamb dishes. Try this place out if you are lamb lover, even though you are not a drinker, you still can have a fairly hearty dinner here.
We have previously enjoyed the Spicy Mutton Fried Rice (RM24) so much that we looked forward so much to this dish. Pleased that this plate was just as good, if not better, the fluffy fried rice has that oomph of spices and pieces of tender mutton. There is also an aromatic note of ‘wok hei’ that is essential in all delicious fried rice. Must-order!
