The Nasi Lemak Pork Rendang attracts me when I looked at the menu. I am loving how the fragrant nasi lemak is done with the fragrant blend of coconut rice together with the generous portion of pork rendang together with the cucumbers, anchovies, kangkung and half an egg.
No question that definitely like this hidden bar, with so much booze to choose from and if other food items in the menu are as good as tonight's mutton varuval, then good food as well.
Of course there are some that I really enjoyed- all Tea Garden, LC 1 (RM 32) and Kopi Ice (RM 35) were all super easy to drink. I’ve always dislike eggwhite in cocktail but I do not dislike this, probably because of the floral hints from lavender. Despite looking ordinary, I am putting LC1 and Kopi ice as a strong contender for one of the tastiest cocktail for the night.
Here’s my favourite – Kopi O Ice (RM35). 50ml vodka, Giffard White Cacao liqueur, Giffard Cafe liqueur, lychee liqueur and pandan syrup! All my favourite flavours in one glass, yo!
Taste:9/10(Delicious. The food here are mostly bar bites but they do have main meal as well. I like their spicy mutton varuval quesadillas. Fragrant with spices makes the quesadillas very good. As for drink, I like their kaya mon the most as I like the sweetness and kaya taste of the drink with alcoholic feel).
Locker & Loft is a unique combination of both a “hidden speakeasy” inspired cocktail bar with the feel of a distillery bar that serves up Malaysian-inspired cocktails, and a restaurant which has a fusion local/ Western menu. The outlet designed by the owners themselves and has a 25-foot copper bar which is one of the longest in Malaysia,
Being the first for a cocktail bar to have a full dining menu, Locker & Loft is quite the convenient place for plenty of fun and of course those quirky Malaysian inspired booze to pair with delicious dishes. It’s clearly not all about the drinks because the food menu is equally as impressive. From Tapas to mains and desserts, orders are made from scratch with no msg and plenty of clever use of spices to incorporate some Malaysian inspired flavours. I love the Potato and Bitter Gourd Pakora with a clever incorporation of jackfruit and chilies bundled together with the thinly sliced potatoes and served with mint yogurt dip. The bitter gourd wasn’t apparent and obvious but I actually secretly wished that it would be slightly more prominent
We tried the crispy Pain Perdu (RM16) - basically fancy French toast - for our first dessert. The toast itself had a buttery, salty taste that amplified the homemade butterscotch sauce topping as well as the mango and ice cream it came with. This dish got me smiling from ear to ear.
Kelapa Rock (RM22) that will make your Kepala rock. Fresh coconut juice with 1.5 shots of Vodka and a touch of syrup. I’m partial to coconuts so this sits really well with me. There’s a punch bowl version, maybe next time I’ll just order THAT.
Reasons to visit: Cocktail highlights (if only short listing three) are Southern Quack, Peppa and El Guapo! Food highlights were the Mutton Quesadillas, Minced Pork and Grilled Mutton Rack With Percik Sauce. In addition to this, The Locker & Loft gives excellent value for money particularly compared to neighbouring TTDI and Mont Kiara.
