Information & Tips about Tonkatsu Anzu?
Giant Fried Scallops – Tonkatsu Anzu @The Table, ISETAN The Japan Store KLThe scallops arrived plump and piping hot, the tender white flesh encased in a thin, crisp breaded shell. The ‘skin’ peeled off rather easily so the scallop kept popping out – would have been great if I could have gotten the batter and scallop together in one bite for a nice blend of texture. They were served with a side of Japanese mayo and the subtle sweetness went great with rice. Could have easily polished off half a dozen but sadly you only get three lol.

Tonkatsu Anzu @ The Table, Isetan The Japan Store KLClassic tonkatsu pork loin is the most perfect. Slight fatty yet you get the nice fragrant from pork oil and the the batter that they use makes it crips inside out, yet the meat is soft and juicy. Dip with their tonkatsu sauce is a perfect marriage.
Tonkatsu Anzu, Lot 10Overall, it is a great place for a tonkatsu but with a price of almost RM50 for a meal is definitely not a meal that you can afford daily. I believe not many patrons able to refill as many rice as they can. Asians are not big eaters anyway.
Tonkatsu Anzu @ The Table, ISETAN The Japan Store KLOverall Comment: Staff service in Anzu is great, despite the unpleasant miscommunication experience from The Table Isetan KL phone reservation. Food wise, mediocre in taste but scores on pork quality. We recommend pork loin. Total bill came to ~RM220, including one sake and sho-ju order.
Anzu KLWhen I read that there is a new Japanese eatery that specialises in tonkatsu here in Lot 10, KL, I plan to eat there to celebrate a special occasion. We went there yesterday for lunch and ordered all three of the limited Ginjo Pork Tonkatsu Sets (black pig) in the menu to try and all four of us agreed that this is the best tonkatsu eatery in KL now. The pork is juicy, tender with crispy batter but not oily. We chose to have brown rice and both types of soup - bean soup and seaweed soup among the 4 of us.
Tonkatsu Anzu @ The Table, Isetan The Japan Store KLAnzu’s homemade Tonkatsu sauce is not as sweet as the others’ and just a dip of mustard (a must) is more than enough to supplement the already great tasting pork cutlets. Overall our tasting experience was a better-than-expected and we will definitely return to try more dishes.
