Komichi Tea House @ Lorong Toh Aka, Georgetown, Penang. At Komichi Tea House, a new Japanese cafe tucked away at a quiet corner of Lorong Toh Aka, where Matcha is everywhere and everything. For the uninitiated, Matcha (or known as Japanese Green Tea) is making its name in the food and beverage scene worldwide in recent years; the flavor is more intense than Chinese Green Tea, with a bolder bitter end. Komichi is one specialist when it comes to Matcha, the entire cafe is Matcha-centric. One of the partners' father owns a Tea Farm in Japan and needless to say, the Japanese Green Tea is directly imported from there. The daughter who is know residing in Penang owns a cafe-dream and now, managed to turn the dream into reality. The menu is very Matcha-focused with an array of serious Matcha beverages and some Matcha-infused home-bakes. Nothing spectacular about the interior decor but rather, an unpretentious and earnest place to enjoy a good serving of Matcha delights.
