This round we also got to try the Wantan Mee @ RM9 and I was happy to see pun fei sau (half lean-half fat) cut of char siew given without requesting for it. Not only that, the noodles also came topped with crispy chee yau char...and that's why you can taste the fragrant lard oil in the sauce that's used to toss the noodles in. It may not be among the better ones that I've had, but overall, still a decent plate of wantan mee.

The Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng was suggested to me by the kind lady who sat on the table next to us, seemed to be a regular patron and so, we took her advise. Glad we did. It was goooooood. As mentioned above, do remember to request for extra sambal though, the usual serving was hardly enough. The fried chicken either came in thigh or drumstick and since I am a sucker for more meat, lol – the thigh seemed ideal. It was tender, juicy, crispy and a perfect addition to the nasi lemak. Overall, a yummy dish.

Set Meal: BBQ Pork + Roast Chicken + Vegetables (Bean Sprouts), 14.90 ringgit. This was your usual chicken rice, or rather chicken + pork rice, lol. I guess for a dish that cost 14.90, whatever served on the plate should be more than enough, especially when it comes with vegetables and soup on the side but 4,5 thinly sliced pork meat and 4,5 pieces of roasted chicken did not do it for me. I barely even had the time to decide whether it was good or not before it all disappeared into my tummy. I guess that explains why every table had a big plate of meat on its own because the set simple does not offer enough. As for how it tasted, the chicken rice tasted okay. For me, nothing beats the chicken/pork rice at Meng Kee ( Meng Kee Char Siew @ Shah Alam – One of the Best Char Siew Rice I’ve Tasted. ) There is nothing much I can say to describe chicken rice, lol or how different it is from one and another because they all almost taste similar but yea, the ones at Meng Kee Shah Alam is the bomb. Sabah Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice, 28 ringgit. Ooooo man, do not get me started on this dish. The fried soft shell crab was da bomb! The crab here was pretty huge, I kindda thought half of it was made up of flour but nope, the flour was just a thin layer on the outside, the inside – was all crab, from one end to the other. No joke. They added some spices and that gave it some sort of spicy, herb-y flavor? It gives it a different taste entirely from the ones you’d usually get elsewhere. The flavors from the crab totally compliments the salted egg fried rice, which on its own was utterly delicious. The whole dish was delicious. Certainly a dish I will reorder again and again.

Overall, we love this place. Friendly service, cozy ambience, jazz music, and not so crowded yet, at least for now. However we guess it will get crowded very soon, ‘coz it is such a pretty cafe to hang out. LOL. Will be back again and hope to see more hot food from their menu.

Lim Kee Cafe 林记 Restaurant

66-68 Tian Jing Hotel Jalan Sultan 50000 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

A neighborhood friendly cafe that gets its name from the owner’s surname. “林 (LIM)”, which is a common surname in the Chinese society, stands for forest in Chinese character. The word also compliments well with the natural setting in the hotel.

The cakes here are home made. They have a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic cakes, depends of what you fancy. I decided on the Tiramisu. Since it is from their ‘alcoholic’ variety, the taste of rum is guaranteed. It was the first and last thing I taste with every bite I took. It was not in an overwhelming way though, more like pleasant. As a whole, the cake itself was light and fluffy, not the kind that would lave you stuffed by the time you reach the end.

Instead of going for a dazzling menu that gives people a feast for the eyes, Lim Kee Cafe chose to keep the selection of the menu simple; basically just coffee, cakes, ice-creams and other choices like tea and bottled juice. **Hot food will be offered much later.

Hainanese Chicken Chop RM16.90, another signature in Luckin Kopi. Tender, juicy thick cut of chicken, breaded and deep fried to crispy, golden brown on the outside. Dressed in a bed of tomato-ish sweet gravy, sided with wedges. Buttermilk Sauce Chicken Chop and Salted Egg Chicken Chop from the same section seem promising too!
