This place served some of the best dosa/tosai I have ever tasted, albeit more expensive than usual. Onion Rava Dosa (RM 15) is crispy and tasty, with great chutney. Rava Idly (RM 11.50) is pretty..

For something memorable from MTR 1924, you must try their MTR’s Rava Idli. This particular food item was invented by its founder, Yagnanarayana. During World War II when India was hit by the great Bengal famine resulting in the short supply and rationing of rice, Yagnanarayana modified his idlis with semolina flour (rava) to replace the rice idly turning them into a filling and healthy steamed savoury cakes that go down in history.

Vangi Bhath, 8.50 ringgit. Vangi Bhath : I had no idea what this was or how it would taste like when I ordered this dish. I saw the word ‘rice’ and ‘brinjal’ and decided to give it a go. I am glad I did though because just like the other 2 dishes, this was awesome too. It was as simple as it looked, rice, with brinjal, cashews and spices + mint chutney on the side but it sure was flavorful. It was spicy, a lil hot, add in the cool feel from the mint and the crunchiness of the cashews and bits of brinjal – yummm.

Onion Utthappam - MYR 11 nett. This thick pancake made with rice, black gram, finely chopped onions and green chillies is not salty so it is perfect to eat with the chutney and lentil sambar. Sambar is a spicy lentil vegetables soup. As I am used to eating less salty food, I prefer the lentil sambar and chutney to be less salty.

Bisi held bhath (RM 6.50) Enjoy the Bisi Bele Bhath is where this rice dish is made with lentils, assorted vegetables and spices, nutmeg, curry leaves and tamarind pulp. They are served with raitha. The taste comes with a light spicy taste and yet appetizing. Love it so much.

We were also given this lovely sweet to sample, and I just discovered that this dish, called the Moon Garland, or Chandrahara, made from Maida flour, deep fried to perfection and topped with a thick sweet liquid made from KHOA, a dairy product widely used in the subcontinent, (I just love that word, it's so exotic, like the Far Pavilions), and served only on Sundays. We were lucky to have sampled it.
