if you are around Chinatown and crave for an east coast soupy bak chor mee, Soon Heng Pork Noodles may tide you over until you get your fix in the east.
It’s hard to find soupy bak chor mee, let alone delicious ones, and Soon Heng Pork Noodles do them pretty well.
The pork noodles were really fresh, with fresh pork fragrance rather than any unpleasant smell of frozen porkiness. You could taste the freshness and tastiness of the pork in the soup, minced pork, meatballs and dumplings. The noodles were nice and springy as well.
Their Shackburger is still reliable. Maybe not for everyone but I like it.
Today's fries were.....nice. Yes, that is indeed the ShackMeister ale in the corner.
Though the price may be steep, I guessed it all sums up to the quality and premium food selection where they pledged it contains no hormones or antibiotics on the Angus Beef.
The Populus Coffee & Food Co. has a fairly extensive cafe menu and serves good coffee as well as exquisite teas and artisanal hot chocolate.
I feel super good when I eat such a pancake cos 1) it tastes nice 2) I feel like I deserve it 3) I need to stop the hunger pangs but I sometimes regret a teensy bit after because I get too full!
I loved the seasonging of the chicken and the house special ranch dressing coated the crunchy fried chicken provided saucey comfort!
It seems like I am always on the lookout for ice cream / gelato but you can’t really blame me when there is a plethora of them here in the l...
Although Apiary’s desserts are a little pricey, their ice-cream (especially the Blue Milk) is one of the best I have ever tasted!
Apiary, pronounced as “eh-pee-er-ee”, is a place where beehives are kept, honey are contained, somewhere to satisfy your sweet cravings (literally) along Neil Road.
Indulge in authentic cuisine at Jin Hua Xiao Chi. Established in 1989, enjoy flavourful dumplings and Chinese delicacies in Singapore’s Chinatown
Most dishes are generously portioned, so come with your food crew and order a taste of everything.
Maybe next time, we’ll just order from the mains.
We thought well of Epiphyte. It is one of the rare cafe that serve both delish desserts and Mains. Even the coffee was more than decent. We hope Epiphyte will continue to maintain its standard if not better.
Epiphyte is a promising bistro-café, both in terms of dessert and savoury offerings. I wished they could have worked that garden-theme further, to incorporate that element more into their mains.
Loved the dining experience at the new IKO Restaurant & Bar, with its bold flavoured Japanese Fusion dishes, attentive service, and buzzy ambience. Will revisit IKO Restaurant & Bar for more!
Food at IKO Restaurant & Bar is Modern Japanese cuisine, themed around small bites and individual plates. Helmed by Chef Jeremmy Chiam, the kitchen delivers consistent quality of dishes, combining flavours in exciting and delicious ways.
For me, the meats are the highlights of IKO. This restaurant is ideal for a casual date night, or small group gatherings where you can afford to try more dishes.
It is combination of roasted pumpkin, green beans, pickled beetroot, quinoa, dried cranberries, sprouts, avocado and roast pumpkin seeds, all tossed in a whey dressing.
The Sauteed King Oyster Mushrooms & Bacon ($8) was lovely, the crisp of the bacon a wonderful contrast against the springy juiciness of the mushrooms.

While cafes are plenty, teahouses are rare in Singapore, unlike the strong tea culture in other Asian cities like Taipei or Kyoto. Tea Chapter remains one of the few options locally, and is one with some impressive history to it. With more care, this is definitely a place to return.
I’ll definitely head back with my fambam, as my folks are like me – major fans of zi char.
the appetizer platter good standard, delicious!
crayfish, scallops & appetiser platter all good.👍
while the distinct herbal taste may seem unfamiliar, the unique brew of sweet, bitter, and savoury flavours will entice you back to Good Taste’s doors.
Hits and misses, I will say that Good Taste Bak Kut Teh may do slightly better than the average but overall it does not give the enough WOW Factor to make us travel down to Neil Road again just for Bak Kut Teh.
overall ok above average for me…
With Foong Kee losing favour due to their rising prices and rougher service, Chang Shun is worth switching camps to.
I ordered the highly recommended Breakfast Platter and got them to change the corn to salad coz hard to eat corn with braces. I have nothing to complain about this well executed platter.
All their beans are supplied by the Knockhouse Supply Co. in the same building. My coffee was uber-smooth, creamy and full-bodied.
About 2/3 of the seating area is al-fresco. There are some seats indoors but I wouldn’t recommend sitting there because the space is rather narrow, it’s directly next to the ordering queue and the cooking smell is stronger there.

Every item was good, with the only exception being the noodles having a slight kee or alkaline flavour, although this was made up for by the outstanding sauce made of dried shrimps and kelp.

A trip to Maxwell to da bao brought us to some of our favorites and some new experiences too. China Street Fritters and their Ngoh Hiang, Liver Rolls, Egg Slice and Sausage with Bee Hoon.
Nice. The rendang was nutty and lemak
Birds Of A Feather 2022 115 Amoy Street #01-01 https://www.birdsofafeather.com.sg/ Pork Dumplings (SGD $17)
Overall, this is the first time I came to BOF and I totally enjoyed the food here. Instead of the overpowering spicy Sichuan cuisine, most of the dishes have been well thought out, multi-layered yet balanced, delicious and well-executed.
Popular Sichuan-Western restaurant Birds Of A Feather located at Amoy Street spots a new menu, after a year long exploration and research by Executive Chef Eugene See.
