We had a good experience with affordable sake during our recent lunch at Nobu. Good sake at a Japanese restaurant in Singapore need not be expensive. This prompted us to try the optional House Pour Sake at $30++. This was the disappointment of the day.
New kamameshi restaurant recommended by 8 Days. Quite a normal although tasty rice, with quite a normal (tasty) unagi. The sashimi appetisers were really fresh though. Not cheap though at $60+ all in.
To my surprise, the packaging was rather elegant, with a disposable plastic kama pot tied with a ribbon and paper cover. But of course, a plastic pot doesn't exactly give you scorched rice. At least that corn bowl above was pleasantly buttery.

Hanare by Takayama is a new Japanese restaurant at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Ngee Ann City. We tried their lunch featuring Kamameshi, a rice dish cooked in a traditional iron pot, topped with various ingredients.
Dinner ended with a scoop of yuzu sorbet and we were left fully satiated. We were very pleased with the meal at Hanare and would certainly come back for their kamameshi! Their service was also very friendly and prompt.
