2nd visit here, I am satisfied. I will be back to try the other choices, especially the Soya Tart and Chicken Pie!
"檀岛咖啡店 Honolulu Cafe" is a Hong Kong style restaurant much like a "typical 茶餐厅 Char Chan Teng" with "slightly" elegant decoration.
The boy wanted rice, so we browsed the fried rice section and he selected the Fried rice with pork in XO sauce (RM16.80). Turned out to be an excellent choice, one of the best fried rice we've had with plenty of wok hei. The portion size is also good for sharing.
Since people are always on about Hong Kong-style roast meats, I went for the signature roast duck with dry wonton noodle (RM17+). It came with a side of soup which tasted like salty water. The duck was pretty good, with a nice balance of lean and fat, and the noodles were decent as well – thin, bouncy and soaked in the sweet and savoury dark sauce. Nothing I couldn’t get for 6 bucks from my local kopitiam though. I guess you pay for the ‘ambiance’.
整体来说,那些甜点和饮料都很不错,没有辜负檀岛茶餐厅70多年历史的威名,不过主食就没啥吸引力,下次来吃下午茶就好了 :)
The buttery flaky pastry compliments the butter perfectly, it just melts in my mouth. Yum!! Must try in Sunway Pyramid for me. Honolulu Bolo Bun With Butter @ RM 3.80
If you love Hong Kong culture then you have a big reason to rejoice. Honolulu Cafe (檀岛香港茶餐厅), known for their delicious egg tarts and award-winning coffee and milk tea, are opening up their first outlet soon in Malaysia at Sunway Pyramid.
