Quite a popular stall here. The chicken was really tender and the sauce thick, balanced and savoury sweet. The noodles were springy and came in a lardy and slightly sweet sauce. Nice.
The char kway teow was toasty with wok hei, and more savoury than sweet, resembling Penang char kway teow. The noodles and kway teow were still quite firm, although soft enough. Not bad.
Although we finally get to it here, we did not have enough stomach for other items on the menu. I will like to try out more of their recommended dishes on the menu. Let's make a return trip soon!
While the kway teow and bee hoon here are not the types I would typically favour, Hai Yan Fried Kway Teow Mee seems to have a cult following of customers who have a taste for these traditional, old-school local favourites. Let us know what you think of their Fried Kway Teow and Fried Bee Hoon should you decide to pop by and give them a go!
Makko Teck Neo is definitely a hidden gem located in a sleepy old neighbourhood.
Overall, we are glad that Makko Teck Neo Metropolis has opened. A good Peranakan restaurant is always welcome in the Buona Vista / Ghim Moh neighbourhood.
Makko Teck Neo’s Peranakan food is not bad.

A bonus at Master Prata is the choice of chicken, mutton and fish curry to go with their prata.
