No reason…It has been unbearably hot here lately and the cold and refreshing pomelo salad (RM8.00)…that we had was definitely a welcome relief.

Right place, right time…For something a little stronger and spicier, I had their lamb curry (RM19.00, with rice)…
Gotta have it…Tried the green curry chicken (RM16.00 with rice)…and instantly declared that it was very nice
Where did all the love go…I sure enjoyed their potato salad…a lot as well. Gosh!!! I noticed that the salads were running out faster than they could make them to refill. No, you can’t make a lot at one go – after you have let it sit for a while, the “water” will come out and the salad would not be as nice anymore.
Back to business…The butter chicken (RM18.00 with rice)…was very good. Usually, I would think that it was something like bolognese sauce but this time around, it seemed like a whole lot of fresh tomatoes went into the making of the sauce and it was a little bit spicy. We sure enjoyed that very much that day.
Come & go…Peter had this absolutely out-of-this-world chicken in traditional Foochow red wine soup specially cooked for me to enjoy with our Foochow longevity noodles, the mee sua…– a must eat on birthdays and other special occasions and as if that huge bowl of the noodles, the meat and the eggs were not enough, he also served me a separate bowl of the awesome soup and some more of the meat!
The sour and the sweet…My masak kunyit (cooked with turmeric) prawns…or fish is sourish too with the slices of asam keping (dried tamarind) added in the cooking and I sure enjoy that a lot
Extra special…Of course we had the Foochow longevity noodles in the super awesome traditional Foochow red wine chicken soup…
Mee sua in chicken soup
…and they specially reserved one of the drumsticks for me – the other one was for the birthday boy. The soup was simply out of this world and one contributing factor would be the wine, made by one of Peter’s aunties, and I heard they added dried longans to it, as well as the usual wolfberries and red dates too, thus contributing to the fragrance and the sweetness of the soup.
Reciprocate…We had my girl’s favourite, their lamb masala and I asked for three servings of that (RM19.00 each, with rice) as usually they would have three chunks of meat in each so there would be enough for the 7 of us
It’s a steal…My girl had the chicken chop…with a special request for mashed potatoes instead of the slices of garlic bread by the side as those would not be gluten-free.
As always, we enjoyed the food
Before…Owing to her allergy, my sister could not eat the lovely belimbing prawns…that Peter, the boss, took upon himself to specially cook for us that night and it was really exceptionally good.
Thumbs up…the tom yam prawns (RM17.00, with rice)…was so very good too. As always, they gave us a lot more, probably two or three times their regular serving at no extra charge.
Thirty days…That is in the only place in town too if one is into the Hakka lei cha…available at RM6.00 per set for lunch only on Fridays.
On this day…I decided to go western as well since my girl was having the spaghetti bolognese so I chose their butter chicken spaghetti (RM19.00)…I had that before and yes, I did enjoy it then but I suggested deboning the chicken when serving it with pasta as opposed to when it is served as a dish with rice. They did say they would do it but they have not done so – maybe it is not so convenient to cook the dish in two different ways, one with the bones and the other without.
New found love…I suggested ordering the Payung fish (RM15.00, with rice)…the ikan keli (catfish) cooked in soy sauce with a bit of taucheo (fermented beans), garlic, ginger and lots of serai (lemon grass)…and chili too.…and it sure bowled them over – it was so very good and they enjoyed it to the max, finishing all the fish and the sauce leaving behind only the stalks of serai and what have you. That sure was a new found love at the very first bite and I am pretty sure that the next time they come here, they would want to have that again.
This time every year…I had their Bangladeshi lamb curry (RM19.00, with rice)
Adaptation…This was on the house, their fungus salad…a Myanmarese recipe that is new on their menu and Peter wanted us to try. My girl is never fond of fried shallots since small and I thought it was more like a vegetable dish that one would order to eat with rice, not quite like a salad but my missus enjoyed it.
There’s a reason…I ordered their nasi goreng ayam penyet (RM8.00)…to see if it was any good as I had seen a lot of people having their fried rice and it did look kinda nice.
The rice was all right – I did not think there was anything that would make it stand out a head above the rest (including my own fried rice that I would dish out myself at home)…and I did not quite like the texture of the chicken. I was told by someone that it was due to the original Indonesian way of cooking the chicken – they actually boil it first before frying!
Dinner for two…We tried the sedha beef (usual price: RM20.00)…also a Bangladeshi dish, once but it did not really tickle our fancy – at best, I would say it was all right, non-spicy, not even a bit.
