It seems that this is the thing to get at Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, with multiple stalls here serving it. It was basically like a rojak with a rather sweet and spicy sauce. I picked so many things that I couldn't finish.

This nasi kandar place in Penang (295-A Jalan Burma) came up in conversation tonight with some folks from KL, so I stopped in to give it a shot. Despite what seems to be a mess above, my selections of mutton, fried egg, and chili pepper on rice above were deliciously greasy, making it a nice way to close the day with some salty carbs.

My hotel is right down the street from Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, so I hopped on over to see what I could get for a quick snack. That assam laksa above was a requisite item, and was much punchier than I was expecting, with a potently sour broth, lots of dietary fiber, and an occasional bit of stank in there.

In terms of environment Huey and Wah cafe may not be much but the place is clean, comfortable and the food is nice. During my visit, i tried their Pesto sauce with Smoked Duck. The Pesto sauce is not too oily and the smoked duck is not too salty, it is nice to eat. The size of serving is just average.

Apart from the Omakase, we also tried the 7-course Sushi Gozen Set, in which most of the dishes were similar to the Omakase's in one way or another. The key difference was the 7-piece Nigiri set, every piece was a masterpiece of its own- beautifully hand pressed and topped with slices of generously cut Sashimi. The Rice was firm on the outside and airy inside, leaving the Nigiri a pleasant texture on the palate.

One of their best sellers- the Hakka Lei Cha Noodles was very good. The noodles were nicely cooked with a chewy-bouncy texture, the real draw was the well-toasted Peanuts which gave the dish a unique aroma. The overall seasoning of the dish was quite spot on and it was a dish that we thoroughly enjoyed

For those looking for something a little more luxurious, do try the abalone big bao. Filled with a delicious savory filling of meat, chicken, mushroom, egg, and a whole abalone, the bao is large enough to feed three. Priced at RM29.90, we do not mind having this little treat every once in a while.

The Unagi Dumplings were some of the more creative ones. As odd as the combination may seem, it actually works. The sweetness and unique flavor of the Unagi paired very well with the fresh, plumpy Siew Mai
