My personal favourite was the Tuaran Grilled Calamari (RM35.80), super flavorful stir fried Tuaran noodles topped with freshly grilled Sabah squid. Hearty, wholesome goodness!
Reasons to visit The Blockbunsters: A slightly quirky vibe with a good gin list at a reasonable price. Burgers of different shapes, sizes and flavours. Remember, being Knowhere is somewhere.
My favourite was the Priyanka Claw-pra, with delicious varuval crab patty on a bed of arugula and curry aioli.
The Legend @ RM 28 The Legend tasted okay. For us, it tastes a bit bland that we have to add our own seasonings in it.
The packaging of the place is nice and pleasing to the eyes. But when one goes deep into the core, there is nothing much to shout about.
Good place for breakfast again!
The Bouillabaisse, the iconic Marseilles seafood soup, is chockful of goodies, tiger prawns, mullet, and the soup, which is more bisque like than clear (unlike the usual Marseilles ones), is so good that left all of us wanting more. Now, the main surprise was the breads, because well, it's bread, and at this stage of the meal, no one wants more bread, BUT one per chance bite into that crusty piece of goodness, it didn't take long before all of it was gone.
Reasons to visit Chez Gaston, French Bistro Bangsar: Charcuterie goodies to share with friends, a beautiful twist on the Salad Nicoise, and meaty mains that come with sauces prepared by the hands of an expert. Of course, same room for dessert.
One of our most favorite salad with goat cheese. Tossed salad with vinaigrette and pork bacon bits. Served along with baked matured goat cheese on baguette stick topped with honey and black pepper.
Overall, the pizza are tasty, although the best pizza i had was in a hotel in chennai 🙂
Black Truffle Pizza was superb. Perfect crust pizza with warm, gooey goodness of melted cheese, mixed mushroom and black truffle paste. Yum!! Must try in Proof Pizza + Wine. Black Truffle Pizza (8 inch) @ RM 36.79
Verdict : Amazing pizza that just makes you fall in love more with their pizza marries well with amazing ambience and wines! Advisable to make reservations in advance
Upon arriving, there was a short queue despite it being a weekday (I visited the cafe at 12pm on a Friday). So, definitely make a reservation before you drop by, for the best seat in the cafe, which IMO is definitely the courtyard.
this quaint hideaway café provides a cozy retreat while surrounded by the unique artwork and natural elements amidst soul-satisfying and wholesome food.
Verdict: Amazing ambience for leisurely brunch or lunch Great place to have a catch up Delicious desserts! Friendly & warm service
The beauty about Southern Rock Seafood is they can source and import the fish and seafood you want if they don’t have it in stock – all you have to do is ask. They also supply premium seafood to most 5-star hotels and reputable restaurants in town and throughout Malaysia.
Overall, Southern Rock Seafood is definitely a great place to enjoy fresh seafood especially their oysters. Worth mentioning here is the Fruits De Mer as well as the Legendary Mussel Laksa which is my own personal favorite.
Reasons to visit this seafood restaurant in Bangsar: Occasions looking for “Best on the Best” should go no further than the pairing of oysters with caviar and the promise of champagne. More modest occasions will celebrate the sustainability focus of wild-caught fish. Occasions looking for greater value will appreciate the bottomless bowls of laksa mussels with terrific bursts of lemongrass.
Verdict: Satisfying flavours and portion, we enjoyed immensely the food we had and would highly recommend this place if you’re at this area.
Food was good and acceptable. I will likely return to try other brunch and dessert options, especially the ice cream!
Verdict: The server there is really accommodating to our request and speedy service .. It's better to make a reservation if you want to be in a big group as the space of this eatery is not that large and it fills up rather quickly .. They have recently updated their menu with the inclusion of the dessert menu!
I could not make up my mind on what to eat and so just selected the salmon main dish. Pan fried crispy skin salmon with clam tomato stew with one potato croquette at MYR 45++ (MYR 52.20 nett). Tasty dish, flavourful and without MSG (because I did not get thirsty after eating this dish). Kept half of it as usual.
Food was good and acceptable.
Naj Big Breakfast, 35 ringgit. This was delicious. You would get a generous amount of scrambled egg (comes in 3 options: scrambled, fried or poached) + mushrooms + beef bacon + chicken sausage + spinach + baked tomato + potato + a slice of sourdough. All the items on the dish tasted awesome, loved every bit of it. It certainly was a hearty breakfast with this dish, I just wish it was not as pricey as it was though. I cant think of another eatery that cost me 35 ringgit for a big breakfast.
This is their hidden Steak sandwich @ RM 35 which is off from the menu. Do request from the waiter. Among all the sandwich, this is my liking among the all. A slight toast with butter fragrant on the top., with sourdough is soft in between and steak is done to perfection. Medium rare. – recommended
Head down to Urban Daybreak this weekend with friends and family to enjoy a wholesome meal together plus don't forget to take some memorable photos for your Instagram Ah.
Crispy White Bait RM23.00 with Mint Yougurt Dip, Salt & Pepper Highly recommended to start with Crispy White Bait – a crunchy addictive snack that is so good on its own, better with a pint of beer. Dip with cooling, refreshing Mint Yougurt!
[Pork-free] Transparent Coffee has found a new home within the 80-year old Sam Mansion Flat in Kampung Attap. Coffee’s excellent as always.
♥Verdict: The place was rather vacant during my visit on last year September. Like what I said earlier, if you’re looking for a perfect spot to while away a few hours, you may consider this place.

好喜欢这红红的炸苦瓜真的很好吃一点都不苦而且他们炸的十分酥脆所以一定要向服务员拿多一点好像不能refill了
The overall experience is a bit pricey for some veggies and rice, but the overall quality makes it worth it.
Had my very first Banana Leaf rice with hubby at Restoran Sri Nirwana Maju! I remembered my dad used to bring us family out for banana leaf rice at Taiping when we were younger. But, we were too young for banana leaf rice since the portion was huge and it had lots of curry and chili involved, so we basically just watched him eat lol. And then until last week, I suddenly had a crave for banana leaf rice and I don't know why. So, I went online and did some research about the best banana leaf restaurant in town. It came out with a list of restaurants and I picked Sri Nirwana Maju since it has lots of good reviews and also it's because I saw my ex-boss brought his wife to this restaurant for banana leaf rice as well. Okay, I trusted his taste, so Hubby and I just went for it.
Reasons to visit The Good Co APW: Superfood experiences in-house at trendy APW, also conveniently available for takeaway and home delivery; a 100% vegetarian menu with loads of vegan options too.
During our last visit there I ordered a cup of Healthy Organic Nasi Lemak at MYR 15.90 nett. Can you see the layers? From the bottom to top - millet (acting as rice), roasted peanuts, tempeh, cherry tomatoes, slices of cucumber (kyuri), hard boiled egg, assorted salad leaves and a small container of healthy sambal that tastes like sweetish peanut sauce (those satay dips).
Suddenly I thought that I would try their yogurt so I ordered this Soul Jar at MYR 14.90 nett. Oats can be seen from the top. Luckily the yogurt is sourish so it is appetising and I managed to finish the whole jar without feeling satiated.
Reasons to visit: All things coffee, but especially the Black Matter Coffee; Chilli Crab in a Charcoal Bun; easy parking. The popular All Day Grub menu continues alongside a wicked cake selection. Al fresco seating and extended menu coming soon.
Papa Palheta's flagship store in Malaysia, this cafe is serious about their coffee without forgetting to add a little humor in it. It was too early for dinner and I was ...
Protecting precious beans - Top-tier coffee, need I say more. A must-visit cafe for coffee enthusiasts. You get to shop for some coffee-gadgets too while enjoying your premium cuppa.
The charred exterior of the steak had always been that enchanting, so good that it got engraved in the mind vividly after the maiden visit.
Overall, i think this is a good option for special occasion, comfortable and spacious environment. According to Huck, the day we went was a quiet day as people go holiday during public holiday. So, can’t vouch for how noisy it may be on a busy night.
Baba Low’s original restaurant is in Tengkera, Melaka and this is the second branch they have in KL. The other branch is actually nearby at Lorong Kurau. What we like about this place is the fast service, affordable prices and simple but delicious Nyonya food.
This popiah wrapper (skin) is very similar to a pancake or crepe because it is doughy, soft and much thicker than the usual thin popiah skin. My friend cannot get used to it and so she removed the skin from 3 segments and left them uneaten. I finished my popiah because I like to eat doughy pancakes. The jicama is cooked with fermented soybeans paste (taucu) as I found some fermented soybeans in the roll. I am ok with this popiah but will not order it again because I don't like the jicama that is too soggy.
My half eaten cendol with my newly served Nyonya Curry Laksa at MYR 8.50 nett. We requested for Mee Hoon (Rice vermicelli) only and I like that the Mee Hoon is very, very soft so that it soaks all the creaminess of the curry broth.
The pakoda was yummy, tasty and flavorful. There were about 10 medium sized pieces served on a platter with some sauce on the side. If you are hoping to find solid bits of fish in each pakoda – you are not going to find it … believe me, I did try looking, lol. I think it was all nicely mashed up prior to frying. I enjoyed eating the fish pakoda, besides tasting awesome, its texture was appealing too – crispy on the outside, dense on the inside.
Kerala Chicken Biryani was fantastic. This is my very first-time trying Kerala Chicken Biryani and it tastes amazing. Aromatic biryani cooked with an excellent spices and herbs. YUM!! Kerala Chicken Biryani @ RM 35
When dining in a Indian restaurant like this, Briyani is always a MUST TRY. The Chicken Briyani was beautifully presented and is part of what made this dish so special. The chutney and yogurt on the side was certainly a good touch and adds so much depth.
Premium Chai Latte (RM14) This almond milk chai latte has got to be THE BEST CHAI LATTE in KL, and that's a bold claim. Unlike the usual almond milk you get in the market, their almond milk is thick and creamy and doesn't get separated or sedimented if left for a while. They retain their thick and creamy texture throughout the serving and I was really impressed. As for the chai, there was no other way to describe it other than being utterly flavourful. And it is not for no reasons as they were incredibly generous with their spices, and the perfect blend of different spices created an impeccable aroma that puts all other chai lattes to shame! If there's one thing you must try from this cafe, make it this one!
The Bangkok Salad (RM22) was also big in flavour and texture. The salad is made up of romaine lettuce, grilled cherry tomatoes, steamed broccoli, carrots, roasted pumpkin and fried shallots, topped with tender, moist sous vide chicken and a Thai coconut red curry on the side. The curry dressing was extremely moreish, making this one tasty salad!
Reasons to visit: Healthy and delicious brunch and cafe foods with plenty of variety for every one of your friends. Don’t miss the Melbourne-style lattes, which include turmeric and black sesame, and the housemade prana chai.
Niko Neko had reopened its original concept store in Bangsar - now dubbed Niko Neko / 1.5 Bangsar. Love the clean aesthetics!
Our drink of choice? Kiku matcha tea (RM11) with no sugar.
Tried Yuri Matcha which is medium profile @ RM 6 and I am a big fan for roasted profile and tried Tsubaki/Houjicha @ RM 6 Both are equally good to my liking.
The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable.
Reasons to visit: comprehensive selection of Indian vegetarian dishes; efforts made to reduce sugar, unhealthy fats and eliminate MSG; our favourite dishes – Multani Paneer Tikka, Pani Puri, Mango Bliss, Spinach and Pumpkin Soups.
Overall, a truly satisfying dish. I loved it.
Reasons to visit The Lankan Crabs: beautiful mud crabs – Mon says you must order the Negombo; easy to reach via the LRT; value-for-money with generous portions; Sri Lankan beer is a bonus; Rich recommends the brown sugar appam, and I suggest you don’t go past the Paal Poriyal.
