What do We Like about Choon Prawn Mee House? -The prawn mee broth which was rich, and full of prawns’ flavour
The traditional Prawn Mee was very nice, I think prawn-based soup was a little bit on the sweet side and not as spicy as I'd imagine it to be, which fits my taste buds. Nice!
我喜欢Nyonya咖喱鱼丸,因为咖喱包装了一个冲击力。也就是说,这并没有向我招呼“槟城”小贩,所以只把它当作一种(美味的)小吃。
The signature pork chop alone has many different flavors to choose from. Our favorite is the nam yee and marmite sauce and we usually choose to have pork chop as there are no bones to it. Basically all the sauces are tasty anyway. The pork chop portion was big and with all the side dishes, it made a fulfilling meal.
I only visit here for their Pork Chop with Thai Sauce and Lemon Sauce Pork Chop. Aside from these two dishes, others are not really good to me. 我只会为他们的泰式猪扒和柠檬猪扒而拜访这里。其他的对我而言没那么美味。
Normally when we go to eat at Ribs King, PJ, we would order the rice dishes but this time I had the chicken mushroom wanton noodle at MYR 7.50+ (6% GST = MYR 7.95 nett). Taste quite acceptable.
As for the 240g chicken patty, it was made with 70% chicken breast and 30% chicken thigh, the patty was juicy. The avocado pesto salsa was refreshing and fragrant to go with the chicken patty, good combination it was.
The vibes here are quite interesting but a bit expensive, eg. Paleo Beef Burger (RM 26.90) where the portion is quite big.
Would I head here again? Hmmmm, if I want a cheerful place to hang out at , that is noisy and full of laughter and people talking and all, then yea, I would head here. For the food specifically , not so much. Like I said in the intro, first for its boisterous environment and then for the food.
What do We Like about Fluffed Cafe & Dessert Bar? -Huge variety of shortcake and cloudcake -Cafe with good vibe
My rating: 75% : Ambiance 70% : Price (value for money) 65% : Taste 75% : Location (ease of parking) 90% : Service 75% : Overall Rating
Strawberry waffle at MYR 22 nett. Needs a few friends to share this waffle because the strawberry sauce and ice cream is too sweet for one person.
What do We Like about Shokudo Curry House? -The Japanese curry satisfied our craving -The special black curry, though it can be spicier
So came across this neighbourhood local grown brand Shokudo Japanese Curry Rice that serves up a decent array of deep fried pork meat with its homemade Japanese curry.
Our friend enjoyed her Tori Tsukune Curry Udon (chicken meatballs with curry udon). The meatballs have a similar texture to Ikea’s meatballs while the curry is less thicker than ours and slightly citrus-y – which definitely work better as a soupy udon dish. This place has been here for many years, and now we know why. Probably one of the better Japanese curry rice in PJ.
Verdict: There’s definitely a lot more food to try at Restoran O & S, especially the highly recommended Asam Laksa and Curry Noodles, but waiting for table in a stuffy environment never something I enjoy. Revisit? I don’t have a firm answer I would say. ╮(╯_╰)╭
What do We Like about O&S Restaurant, Taman Paramount? -Best curry mee in the neighbourhood -Tasty char kueh teow -The coffeeshop setting for local delicacies
Personally I like their Macau egg (egg in tomato sauce) and kam heong pork slices. Very much to my liking. Also to note is their rice portion is very huge (we like to eat rice by the way), usually we shared one bowl of rice.
There are several famous Roasted Duck destination in PJ, and one of them is PJ Seksyen 20's "龍鳳燒鴨 Restoran Loong Foong".
Crispy battered chicken with sweet, sour and spicy sauce. Appetising sauce but this portion is too much so half this dish is taken home by one of us as we couldn't finish it. Price is MYR 58.30 nett
Dinner for 2 costs RM51 with 4 dishes, 2 rice and 2 drinks. Food was ok but the service is not really good. When we wanted to get our bill, no one actually came to us despite us telling the workers that we need a bill. It took 15 minutes for the bill to came that piss me off and to get our change, it's even longer! There it goes, off my dinner list. Should considering take away roasted duck instead if dining there.
This is another dish that I would have gone for. The salmon was perfectly executed and was just so darn good.
A’Roma Dinings is our favourite place for authentic, handmade pasta dishes.Think authentic, al-dente pasta lusciously coated with sauce. A food review.
Prosciutto Burrata E Carpione 👍 The highlight of this Hors d'oeuvre has definitely got to be the Burrata cheese. For those of you not in the know, Burrata looks like Mozzarella. They have the same appearance and texture, but that is where the similarity stops. Burrata is actually something like a cheesy pouch of Mozzarella stuffed with fresh cream and soft stringy curd. It is always served fresh and doesn't keep for very long, lasting no more than a day or two at the most. With its rich milky buttery taste, it goes very well with bread, so I was pleasantly surprised it made its way here with the Prosciutto.
This dish is called yut kong hor or literally translated from Cantonese as moon river noodle due to the raw egg's resemblance of a moon (yolk) surrounded by cloud (egg white).
It was an okay dinner for us. Not something to shout about. Service was okay, nobody took our order and my Boyfriend have to walk over to the cashier counter to order food. Food was served quickly as the restaurant was not busy. My favorite food is their Chicken Wing and Passion Fruit Drink. The total bill was about RM 43 for foods and drinks.
Fried Hokkien Mee for 2 - BIG!! and very nice!! I finally found one hokkien mee which could compete with the one I like most in Hong Lai Restaurant @ Setapak.
This time I returned to Paramount Garden Coffee shop, PJ and ordered two bowls of Lor/Loh Mee (around MYR6.50 for a bowl) for lunch.
Lunch on a weekday - Lor Pan Noodle - MYR6.80 nett. The broth is sourish with vinegar and we added more vinegar to it to make it even more delicious!
Need a delicious and satisfying pork noodles (zhu yuk fan)? Just head to Restoran New Seaview in Taman Paramount Petaling Jaya.
This is definitely one of the oldest chinese kopitiam, at least since the 70s!
So I went for a large plate of shrimp chee cheong fun (RM7). The dish did not disappoint, as the slightly translucent rolls had a nice, chewy texture to them, and the sambal had a definite kick. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve ever tasted coz the sauce was a little too oily + the shrimps were small, but it was tasty nonetheless. I’d rate it an 8/10!
Overall, we had a great experience at Restoran Yong Tau Foo Khong Kee. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable.
Overall, Khong Kee still serves one of the unique and best porridges in PJ. It’s HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are craving good porridge.
My lunch - tofu, bittergourd and brinjal stuffed with fish paste at MYR 1.50 nett each. This eatery has porridge in its menu too but I did not buy any as I don't feel like paying MYR 5.80 nett for a bowl of porridge so after eating these 3 pieces, I walked to O&S eatery and bought 2 rolls of popiah without any sauce at MYR 2.30 nett each as takeaway.
Overall the dining experience at Gold Dragon City was a great one and we look forward going back to try other dishes. A restaurant that has been operating for so long definitely has something good, we definitely will be visiting more of them in the neighborhood.
The highlight for me was, of course, my favourite dish on the planet – squid. Deep fried with salt and pepper, each piece was coated in a thin crispy layer rather than being overwhelmed by batter. The salt and pepper + spring onion/chilli mix really gave it that extra kick.
Verdict: Very decent Chinese “Dai Chow” meal and I’ve noticed a few interesting dishes that I would like to try on my next visit. Oh ya, they serve roasted suckling pig too, who wanna join me for dinner? \(^ω^\)
We like the tauhu and kai lan of Ping Wah (because of salted fish) more. The bitter gourd with pork slices were just lack of some taste.
My lunch: MYR 12.20 nett - a bit of chicken, a bit of potatoes and pork, and more sweet potatoes leaves.
The dishes are: Silky Smooth omelette, deep fried fish with fried slices of ginger, braised chicken with fried garlic, slices of potatoes with pork, beancurd and vegetables. Total costs is MYR 190 nett for 10 pax.
Verdict: Sin Tong Hong unquestionably a good place to head to for some hearty local delights, with very affordable price tag. No wonder the place was teeming with patrons in the entire time we were there.
Coffee (RM 5.40) and Curry Chicken Noodle (RM 12.90) is okay, but my mom doesn't like it. Cucur Udang (RM 2.90) is soft and nice. Parking is hard on weekday lunch.
Overall, we think Sin Tong Hong Kopitiam is a great stop if you’re looking to feed a party with various cravings for local delicacies. The space is comfortable – and should be a good spot to meet friends.
We ordered Danish berries and Sourdough Ruben Sandwich, while drinks we had americano and latte. Danish Berries, it was sweet and flaky, however it complement well with americano. Bitterness and sweetness neutralized each others.
Now let’s be real- One Half has great coffee and food, but what you really pay for is the ambience. Here’s a bold claim: One Half is perhaps one of KL’s most aesthetic cafes. Scandinavian in design, elements like neon, dark hard wood, rustic tables and white walls all come to play here, and while they might seem conflicting, One Half has taken all these textures into consideration and made perfect sense of it all. Aside from coffee and pastries, they also sell household items, clothing, pot plants, and bouquets of dried flowers.
White Coffee, Yes, I agree, its good. Enjoyed some quite time here. Besides coffee, also available are tea, desserts and even some imported Craft Beers!
What do We Like about Claypot Curry Fish at Restoran Paramount 86? -The fish was fresh, meaty and tender. Curry gravy was good -The price was reasonable considered it was fish dishes
Our stalls of choice are still the one dealing in steam fish and fish head noodles and the fiesty grand ol' lady's lor bak stall with the best (and our favourite) yam cake. We also wanted to add on our latest find which is the nasi lemak that's-so-lemak-it's-bonkers at the front of the shop but we couldn't find it on our later visits. But then the new beef ball noodles stall gives us another good option here.
Whenever Hokkien Mee is mentioned, there are a handful of familiar names that usually come up. Some of the more established ones are Kim Lian Kee, Damansara Uptown and Ah Wah. Having tried the former two, I thought I’d drop by Ah Wah to see how it fares with the others. Since this is reputed to be one of the best in PJ, my expectations was high.
What do We Like about Habana Charbroil Steakhouse, Taman Paramount? -Grilled pork chop’s seasoning was tasty -Grilled pork burger’s patty was juicy -The apple crumble was fresh and satisfying
Their burgers are awesome and pretty much the best in the Klang Valley. Great for a family and friends casual dining. Great service too! They will move to a n...
A glass of house pouring wine is RM15, so it’s even better to order by the bottle. What I like about this place is that it’s a simple, cosy neighbourhood family restaurant without any unpretentious draping and prices are more than reasonable.
Yam bao and Malai ko char siew bao from Key Way coffee shop at Paramount Garden, PJ. Total price is MYR 7 nett. One is MYR 3 nett and one is MYR 4 nett - I forgot which is what. I gave both to my friends, one each and they told me that the two baos taste ok, not much fillings.
As usual, there will always be one or two groups of elderly man who are regulars in such kind of local dim sum restaurants early in the mornings, savoring their morning tea with the "old man talks".
I have got to try it next time if I am ever visiting Sri Petaling.
4 other dishes we ordered: tofu, steamed tilapia with ginger, spicy marmite chicken and kai lan vegetables. MYR 170 nett shared equally by 6 pax.
Having said that, once we tackled the Yam Pork, we had to literally crown it as the number one winner. Tender to its core pork slices and yam atop a thick gooey dark sauce, summed up our Malaysian happy day. Though slightly "bland and blunt" in tastes, but when eaten alongside birds eye chillies in soy sauce, it was akin an instant rocket awakening. The couple couldn't agree more that I as the food hero nailed it in ordering Yam Pork. Of course I was joyous as well because both pork and yam are my favorite. Yummy-tummy Yam Pork.
Fried pork meat flavoured with prawn paste was an excellent choice, good aroma, crispy on the outer surface and juicy in the inside. Good choice indeed.
