Hajjah Jamillah Raj mohamed Muslim Food is located at Haig Road Market and food centre. I previously ate the wanton mee from Kiat Huat 吉發雲吞麵 and mee rebus from Afandi Hawa & Family Mee Rebus.
he noodles are done springy-crunchy, the aromatic sauce is savoury spicy with pulpy chili, soy sauce, sesame oil and lard.
Though not quite as elaborate as some of the others but this is a refreshing choice nonetheless.
The black fungus steamed chicken with a bowl of rice was $13.70; the savoury light soy sauce was very refined, flavourful and moreish, while the chicken and black fungus were cooked just right, with the chicken tender and moist and the black fungus crisp and slightly soft.

I would definitely return with my family to relish in their restaurant-quality fare.
Juwanda’s maternal grandparents were once mee rebus street hawkers, so his family really appreciates quality when they taste it. At Afandi Hawa and Family, their mee rebus is the real stuff, made from a good meaty stock thickened with sweet potatoes.
Nice soft noodles served with tender beancurd with crispy skin, bathed in a balanced and flavourful sauce, with some sweetness, fermented soy bean flavour, and apparently made with prawn, flower crab, mutton, turmeric and potato puree etc.
The Mee Soto is my personal favourite. A savoury Chicken broth best served piping hot - it gets too salty when cooled.
Lim Yu Mei is one of Sarawakians in Singapore's favourite kolo mee. I love it too 💗 Both red and white versions.
The curly noodles have a tender springy crunch that is unique to kolo mee noodles. Different from wanton mee crunch or mee pok QQness.
The kolo mee here really evoked nostalgia. I was reminiscing my childhood memories in Sibu, Sarawak, as I was savouring the noodles!
Muslim-friendly stalls selling everything from fried chicken, “bak chor” mee, to XXL bandung yakult were introduced to diners in the West, and now, it’s time for East siders to get a slice of the pie.
Good old school wanton noodles in the east, this is one wanton mee stall to check out in Haig Road if you are craving for one.
The noodles are springy and doused in Soya Sauce and a fragrant Garlic and Scallion Pork Lard oil. I wolfed the noodles, it was so good.
All in all, if you’re looking for a good Roti John to satisfy your cravings, do drop by Rosy and Nora for it!
Overall, HJ Waliti HJ Mazuki is a good place to get your fix of Malay food.
I like this fish soup.
Oh man, let me tell you about my faves from the menu! First, there's the emperor chicken with herbs - it's so tender and packed with flavor, you won't be able to get enough.
Ambience at Goldleaf Restaurant is modern and functional. The brightly lit place with ample natural light is minimally decorated, with modern furnishings lined neatly within the spacious seating area.
If you have not made any arrangements for the upcoming Mother’s Day, get in touch with Goldleaf. Other set menus are also available. Cheers!!
In any case, should I get craving for it, I know I must sacrifice sleep once more.
No doubt that Mr & Mrs Mohgan Prata is popular and known for its crispiness, but I find that there are still better Prata around. Nonetheless, the service rendered is friendly and I do not mind making a return trip to Joo Chiat if my friends are keen on it.
It has been awhile since I had Mr and Mrs Moghan’s Prata. In fact the last time was at their old location at Crane Rd. Now at Tin Yeang Coffee Shop on the corner of Joo Chiat Rd and Dunman Rd, it was time I visited again.
If you find space a constraint, you can always hop across the road to Burger and Steak Frites. They are under the same management and serve the same dishes. The ambience there is more casual and suitable for families.
A charming slice of France in Joo Chiat. Braseiro seems relatively under the radar when it comes to steak frites in Singapore and that makes up part of its charm. Head here for a cosy and affordable steak meal, and the service is very hospitable too.
Braseiro Steak Frites Restaurant Joo Chiat Singapore
Long Phung vietnamese restaurant in Joo Chiat is known for reasonably priced authentic Vietnamese food. It has a new outlet in Chinatown.
Another trip to Long Phung reminds me of how good it is. Beef Pho and Chicken Noodles are definitely deep in flavors and tender noodles and meat. Stir-Fried Squid in a Sweet and Sour sauce was a li…
Long Phung on Joo Chiat Road is a must for all SEA foodies - the best Vietnamese you are likely to get in Singapore - prepare to queue, but it is worth it
I love Sushi and Sashimi, but I have always been on the fence in regards to Donburi and Poke. I am not sure why, it just seems like it is all mixed together and you enjoy it almost the same way. Bu…
Very average chirashi don.
Food at Donburi King is Japanese cuisine, focused on rice bowls. Ingredients are fresh and tasty, resulting in quality of most dishes being pretty good. The menu has good variety, so repeat visits are worthwhile. Portions are large for individuals. Prices are reasonable and affordable, budget about SGD $28 per person.

Price wise, this comes cheaper than Da Dong and the waiting time is probably shorter as well. It is a good alternative if you want to have a competent bowl of prawn noodles in Joo Chiat.
The stock was more crustaceany and prawny, plus thick and layered, but not so sweet. The prawns were really fresh and sweet, so much so that you could pull the flesh off the shell very easily. Wah Kee was still the gold standard, of the prawny rather than porky broth as it was here, although this was really not bad.
Baba Chews Bar & Eatery at Hotel Indigo Katong Singapore celebrates Christmas with exquisite gourmet dishes with familiar local ingredients.
OCBC Card 1 for 1 Mains Takeaway deal is good opportunity to try Baba Chews’ interesting Mod-Sin mains - such as Rendang Lasagne & Chilli Crab’ Tagliatelle.
Traditional might be good, but a modern take on it can be just as pleasing, if not better.
Eating at British Hainan will feel like a time travel experience.
British Hainan Joo Chiat review of Quirky Restaurant for Hainanese Western Food at Carpmael Road Singapore with pictures of menu with price
Yes, and in fact I have returned and brought my folks to check this place out again since. Love the Oxtail Stew I had, and you should as well. Escape Singapore by visiting British Hainan.
The nice kampung / small town setting makes eating here particularly enjoyable.
Totally no short-cuts here, their fish products are really a craft of passion!
anyway it was really enjoyable for all of us
Really nice chocolate Pain Au Chocolate – layery, flaky, delicate, fully and buttery. The Canele was moist and spongy too.
Petit Pain, a popular small batch Bakery in Joo Chiat, and Japanese style bakery Kamome @ Joo Chiat offer delectable healthy bread.
Petit Pain makes delicious pastries that are affordable for everyone without compromising quality and tradition.
