Flavours were sweet and clear in most of the dishes, as what Hongkong-style does: allowing the natural goodness of ingredients to shine. With wellness very much in mind, the dishes are well executed with minimal use of oil and hard flavouring

Dining at EMP KL promises to be a gastronomic journey that will delight the senses.
So recently for Christmas eve, I took myself to the newly opened fusion contemporary pork- free Chinese restaurant at EMP KL and believe me it was so worth it as it was truly a treat for the senses….
With a name like Churrascaria, one would expect the restaurant to churn out heaps of mouth-watering barbecued meats. Qba Bar & Grill, one of the restaurants housed within The Westin Kuala Lumpur, one of the most exclusive hotels in the heart of Kuala Lumpur; offers all you can eat Brazilian-inspired churrascaria-style buffet. The award-winning restaurant earns its reputation for serving some of the best grills in town, head there with a big appetite and expect a constant carving of not only meat but a generous offer of Seafood as well. The dining area behind the drinking place (of Qba) has a rustic, vibrant and easy-going atmosphere; making it a fun place to hangout (alcohols can be ordered at additional costs). Every Friday and Saturday, the award-winning Qba Bar & Grill in The Westin KL will be transformed into a churrascaria, where meat lovers can indulge in an all-you-can-eat Brazilian Churrascaria buffet spread with a fantastic selection of perfectly-grilled meat and seafood. Thirty8 is famous for its incredible view, overseeing the city skyline of Kuala Lumpur and The twin towers, while sipping on your tea, hanging out with your friends or family, and have some dessert.
Overall, THIRTY8 offers one of the best views of the KL cityscape. However, we found the food to be hit-or-miss. In summary – come for the view, but temper your expectations for the food.
Overall, I do say this place does live up to the hype.
For example we really like this Unagi Bao RM28. Small in size, big in flavours. Spicy, succulent unagi contrasted by crunchiness of deep fried nori, flavours lifted up with salted egg crumble and julienne cucumber for a refreshing crisp that comes in just right. Served over a basket of sweet potato chips.
THE LINGUIST (MYR 30) Sautéed Prawns and Clams with Chili Linguine, Garlic and Rocket Huge and fresh prawns were spotted!
Service is slow, food is nice, price is above average. Value for money item would be Fried Chicken and Curry Rice. Cheese cake with cream is pretty good.
Overall, the high cost of the meal (RM268 for 2.5 diners) wasn’t matched by the quality of food, so I don’t think I am likely to return in the near future. On the other hand, if I could get away with just having three courses of dessert, I might change my mind.
YURI / Matcha 6th Avenue Cheesecake! Priced at RM21, this is exclusively made available at The Tokyo Restaurant, Isetan The Japan Store, Lot 10. We personally prefer this to the original now as it has the right balance of sweetness together with the matcha. So velvety smooth and tasty!
Thanks to the friendly staff for recommending this Sup Ekor. So good! A hearty portion of tummy-warming, flavourful oxtail broth, richly seasoned with a bouquet of house spices, topped with celery cress and crispy shallot.

Started with this Rose Cheese Chiqueen, a cheesy chicken platter that’s going to become cheese lovers’ new favourite! Fried chicken tenders stacked over a bed of fondue cheese, topped with chunky potato wedges and cherry tomatoes, further heaped with mozzarella sauce.
CHICKEN Chasseur | Spatzle | Autumn Vegetables CHICKEN, main course that you will hardly go wrong with. Fried chicken leg done right – crispy crackly skin, shielding juicy, tender meat beneath. What raise our attention are these homemade German spaetzle, a type of pasta made from eggs, flour, water and salt. Mini and doughy, goes well with chasseur sauce served along.

Next is the Lobster, an absolutely flawless dish, both in terms of presentation and flavours. Extremely pleasing to the eye, the butter poached lobster is embellished with celery, apple, edible flowers and rutabaga (swede) with mascarpone. To go with the lobster, a sauce made from fermented apples with fish broth is poured tableside, finished with a few drops of kombu oil. Beautiful, delicate flavours.. loved it!
I was privileged to be invited for ‘a meal among friends’ by Jeanette of Elegant Inn (EI) Hong Kong Cuisine restaurant recently.
Attention to the tiniest details is restaurateur Jeannette Han's maxim. Still going strong after 15 years at Menara Hap Seng, the understated Elegant Inn Hong Kong Cuisine restaurant remains a firm favourite among discerning Chinese food lovers in the city.
It took them a while to perfect their Golden Boneless Stuffed Chicken with Chicken Tomato Salad. The chicken skin is utterly crispy and scrumptious. Coupled with the bouncy bites of the prawn and chicken paste, one can easily polish a few pieces of these. A lightly roasted tomato wedge topped with shredded chicken and drizzled with house made orange balsamic sauce proved to be a good yin to the yang of the stuffed chicken pieces.

A traditional favourite on the menu this festive season is the Steamed Clay Pot Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat. Made with Chinese sausages specially flown in from Hong Kong, this dish requires up to 45 minutes to prepare for the flavours of the vegetables, Chinese herbs and meat to infuse into the rice leaving a distinct and rich flavour.
