Overall, Frangipaani offers a decent Indian meal in a very classy setting in Bukit Damansara. Service is excellent here as well with good recommendations by the waiting staff.
What do we like about Frangipaani KL? -The pani puri – great first experience of trying -The ambience and attentive service
There are many cubes of cottage cheese in the Palak Paneer (spinach cottage cheese dish). To my surprise, this Palak Paneer is quite spicy so I took half home and ate half with one quarter Naan. Three quarters Naan, I took home. I like to eat Palak Paneer but normally they are not as spicy as this one.
[Pork-free] Run by the same folks behind Serai Group, Blonde in Republik offers something different from their usual Asian fare.
The place is so so classy.
Reasons to visit Blonde at The Republik: chic setting with friendly staff; contemporary international cuisine that is presented beautifully; must try the Dutch-style pancakes to break from the norm, poached eggs with beef brisket, pumpkin and watermelon salads, lamb belly, duck and do save room for the deconstructed pavlova.
Our favourite though from the “Smaller” section was the Cold Capellini (RM88) – thin Italian pasta served with amaebi (prawn sashimi), Hokkaido scallops and ikura (salmon roe).
Reasons to visit Playte Contemporary Dining: stylish, streamlined setting; excellent value-for-money five-course meal for RM 130; 20% off all wine by the bottle!
Highly recommended – we really enjoy places like these who aim to showcase local ingredients through contemporary techniques.
Reasons to visit Nam Restaurant Republik: a solid menu offering the classics for traditionalists and some creative recipes for the more adventurous; must try to the Nam Beef Pho with Short Ribs, Aromatic Crispy Duck Banh Xeo and the Peanut & Lemongrass Choux; free corkage Thursday nights.
Verdict: The food was certainly not shabby but did not mind blowing either. The food portion exceed expectation for the price paid and I thought they could be more generous with that. I’m regret to tell that our dining experience did not manage to lure us for a second visit.
Hubby's favourite was the Kao Soi Gai (RM28), a Northern Thai chicken curry rice noodles dish, topped with crunchy pickled Chiang Mai mustard greens. The flavorful, vibrant broth is thick, creamy and spicy, beautifully balanced by the pickled greens and a squeeze of lime.
Reasons to visit Krung Thep’s Noodle Bar KL: A varied noodle and small plates lunchtime menu; could enjoy a single dish alone, or two people could share 2-3 small plates and leave happily well-fed; an attractive setting that is a fresh mix of traditional materials and bold art; varied indoor/outdoor seating options.
Reasons to visit Tickets Bar KL: a must for both lovers of Tequila and those who are not sure (we guarantee the team here will do their best to turn you into a fan); original setting; authentic and innovative creations served up with a flourish of fun; must try the Paloma and a Tequila flight; no hangover (true story).
Happy Stan at Republik Damansara Heights is a cozy place that offers coffee during the day, and cocktails at night.
♥Verdict: The food was certainly not shabby but did not mind blowing either. The food portion exceed expectation for the price paid and I thought they could be more generous with that. I’m regret to tell that our dining experience did not manage to lure us for a second visit.
Found the quality of food generally above average, though some dishes were on the salty side. Some dishes are pricier than others depending on what you order, but still affordable. It goes to show that pork can just as brilliantly match with Indian cuisine as other meats, especially when it’s handled well like how MTP has done it.
Reasons to visit Meat the Porkers Plaza Damansara: lovely new setting with lots of natural light and views of the treetops; possibly the only Indian restaurant in Malaysia to serve pork; must-tries are The Porkers Naan, Tandoori Pork Ribs, Siew Yoke Biryani and the Goan Pork Vindaloo Mantou. Do allow room for a fruit lassi too.
熱愛美食的業者Heruth笑稱,不悔當初在衆多反對聲中仍堅持打破傳統,大膽嘗試推出以豬肉爲主打的餐單。
High class Pakistan food, we probably ordered too much. Food is nice, but i wasn't impressed by anything in particular. Maybe too expensive while the food is not good enough for the price point.
Overall verdict: Food is not bad. It is my first time having Sri Lankan food so I don’t have a comparable review to make. I think the flavours are very similar to Indian food. So if you like briyani rice and chicken curry, you’d probably enjoy this.
My recent visit to Aliyaa is a satisfying experience exploring flavours from the region, and the best part is that we get to save a lot on this meal by enjoying the Buy 1 FREE 1 Main Course deal via The ENTERTAINER App! In conjunction to its 10th anniversary, Aliyaa Island Restaurant will be hosting a Jaffna Food Festival, a showcase of over 50 dishes from the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. A special guest chef will be joining the team to create authentic Jaffna cuisine throughout the 4-day period. Whereas the restaurant will also transform into a ‘Little Jaffna’ throughout the festival with traditional decorations that will take you on a ‘Journey to Yalpanam’. This buffet-style celebration will be available for Lunch and Dinner, with the first session open on the evening of October 30th until November 2nd. It is RM148++ per pax inclusive of a traditional welcome drink.
Gin Rik Sha has definitely redefined Indian cuisine with their modern interpretation.
总的来说,Gin Rik Sha确实是一家不错的印度餐厅。
Verdict: To be honest, Indian cuisine most probably one of my least favourite food but I left gin rik sha feeling satiated the food we had was good enough to contemplate returning to check out the remainder of the menu.
I love Japanese Omellete and I had this whole plate myself by pairing it with Hoppy. It is pretty good. – recommended
Verdict: An authentic japanese dining experience with dishes not widely available in many Japanese restaurant in KL Affordable pricing and friendly service!
One good place to check out is the newly opened 1-month-old gastropub called Butaya Izakaya 豚家居酒屋, located at Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur. Opened in June last month, Butaya Izakaya focuses on Japanese Yakitori, complete with a wide variety of Japanese cuisines such as sashimi, Age (deep fried), Don (rice dishes), Ramen/Soba noodles, Tempura and side dishes.
All in all, their forte is still very well and deliciously maintained; love all the pastries as usual, yumz!!
Cream Tart tastes wonderful as usual, and Summerkid loves their plain croissant.
If you're looking for some fine French pastries and European styled breads, made with top quality ingredients, look no further.....but be prepared to pay! ^_* Don't leave without trying the flaky and buttery croissant, the luscious opera cake and the oozy lemon curd tart...my top favourites. If I live or work in the area (they have another smaller outlet in Atria Shopping Gallery), I certainly won't be able to stop at one visit....but alas, I'm so far away. According to their Facebook, we can get a limited range of their products at O'coffee Clubs in KLCC (Kinokuniya), Mont Kiara and The Gardens (Robinsons). To get my fix, I may just have to visit the nearest one to me in KLCC to see what they offer! ;)
Reasons to visit JungleBird KL: Rum! The Cubano, real food, epic cocktails, awesome conversations, mini staycation.
KL’s temple of rum has a new home in the same neighbourhood. From new all-day opening hours and a new ambiance to an enticing new food menu and a new cocktail ethos, here’s what you need to know.
Reasons to visit: an extensive collection of rum accompanied by knowledgeable and friendly bar staff; don’t miss trying Malaysia’s classic cocktail and the bar’s namesake the Jungle Bar, and for those serious about their booze a rum tasting flight is highly recommended.
We came for the sourdough, but stayed for the pancakes. Smith’s sourdough is extra rustic and smoky as they are baked in wood-fired ovens.
Beef Brisket Toasties (Rm 38) Slow-roasted Black Angus beef brisket, mozzarella, sharp cheddar, dijon mustard, mayo sandwiched in between the country sourdough bread and served with pickles. I took the first bite and I was immediately wow-ed by it. There were melted fats interlacing with the tender Angus beef brisket. Super delicious! Till now, I couldn’t forget how melty and delicious it was.
We initially wanted to have just sourdough as we weren’t in the mood for anything sweet-related treat early in the morning but the Classic German Pancake (Bismarck) looked so tempting it made us order one. And aww-my-gawd. Glad that we ordered this. It tastes soooooo good.
I’d like to say chef Andy Choy is the Canelé King but then, his soufflé is also to die for, and now that I’ve tasted his Beef Wellington, I’m definitely in heaven.
Chef Andy Choy (Chateau Dionne) said the theme for The CKT Supper club this month was ‘Italy’ and not Italian, otherwise we would be better off at a true blue Italian resto. He’s being honest, and frankly, it did feel more like Malaysian fusion with the teeny bits of Italian accents, what with Wagyu with rendang sauce, and roti tissue inspired paper thin bread with Western ‘dhall’ made with split peas instead of chuck peas, and all.
The theme will be Italian next March with Andy in a collaboration with chef Kenny on March 27th . You can find out then what CKT really stands for then! Held at Chateau Dionne and priced at RM280, seats are very limited so book early!
Reasons to visit: Nomi Tomo is the only speciality sake bar in Kuala Lumpur and you are sure to find some variation that you will absolutely love; if you’ve never had sparkling sake you are seriously missing out; the quintessentially Japanese atmosphere makes you forget that you are in the heart of KL
When comes to Friday night, it is really indeed no idea where to hit on for drinking area, till I was recommended to this cool new place by my friend. Nomi Tomo Sake Bar is located in the heart of Bukit Damansara, KL. A bit of like speakseasy bar as where it is located on the 3rd floor of a shop lot. Below is one of the famous cafe – Huckleberry.
Just in case you may get confused after rounds and rounds of Sake tasting, the wall of Nomi Tomo is filled with the chart of flavours and pricing for each sake. It definitely eases the process of choosing your favourite sake here!
The food at Cotta KL is good and what you pay is what you get. If you watch the video, you will understand the sincerity as well as the passion of the owner of Cotta KL in offering quality and good food for the customers. The passion to make the food better is a great example of great owner that wants to offer more to customers. If you have not been here, time to visit them soon!
Hidden away above a mini market, Cotta KL is like a speakeasy bar but with ricotta cheese on the menu. The 3 key staples here are the Classic Ricotta Toast (RM18), Smoked Salmon Ricotta Toast (RM26) and Chuck Mooris (RM25).
The menu items are more expensive than they need to be, but much of it seems to have a little something extra to make it unique. If you’re trying a new diet like paleo or keto, Huckleberry will have more options than most. The cakes and pastries are quite reasonably priced, and coming here for coffee and a snack would cost less than at other upscale cafes. If it weren’t so busy all the time, I would certainly return to Huckleberry to try more of their food. However, I abhor waiting for an hour just to eat somewhere and can likely only come back on an auspicious day such as this. If you want to get in here without a ridiculous wait, you should try our strategy of visiting during a holiday when many people are out of the city.
Reasons to visit: Summertime Spiked Milkshake; Pick Me Up; Beast Mode Burger; Mad Batter.
Overall, this is my kind of Italian food. Something very simple and direct. The only thing that could not really justify is the price of food vs ambiance. No doubht that their service is top notch, how ever would prefer the place slightly more chill.
Reasons to visit: a great place to go with friends, very relaxed vibe, healthy and hearty Italian food, super friendly staff, distinctive wine list
Reasons to visit: relaxed and friendly neighborhood feel; the long list of appealing and refreshing aperitivos and playful interpretations of Italian favorites like the spicy Cozze Della Casa mussels and the hearty Pumpkin soup.
