This place is famous for freshly made Kaya Puff. Comes at 9.30am or slightly earlier, as the queue build up pretty fast within minutes. Salted Egg Pastry with Chicken Floss also not bad.
Sin Eng Heong is very famous for its Kaya Puffs.
This shop in Ipoh sells all sorts of Cantonese pastries.
So yes, I'd totally recommend this place. No wonder everyone loves it here.
他们不在这里供应普通的蛋糕/甜点;共同拥有者妮可非常热衷于糕点和甜点。
Patisserie Boutique is a fresh entry on the row that now contains what looks like the highest concentration of hipster cafĂŠs in Ipoh's Old Town; it tries to bring a ...
Here's the location.
This is a Salted Egg Yolk Pastry (Ham Dan So, 鹹蛋酥, 咸蛋酥) from Ming Yue bakery in Ipoh. I feel that it is very big because it is bigger than a tablespoon. Just look at how golden and glistening the salted egg yolk is
Some days you don’t need anything fancy. The food won’t blow your mind, but it is tasty and priced fairly. Although I do feel that the dining room could be brighter, I was put at ease by the family restaurant feel of this place. The staff today at Vintage Coffee & Bread were polite, attentive and patient to obvious out-of-towners like us. If I lived in Ipoh, I would come back here to get my kaya on bread fix. With their unintimidating menu that mixes Hainanese with familiar western elements, I would say that this would be a good place for cautious tourists to try some classic kopitam fare… or completely wimp out and order a tuna sandwich, whatever.

Sponge cake with kaya or coconut egg jam, very nice and fragrant.
钟汉元是怡保一家著名的饼铺。创始人于1949年从中国朝阳带着代代相传的传统食谱来到怡保开始营业。
Mini Green Bean (Mung Bean) Paste Biscuit from CHG (Ching Han Guan), Ipoh. They taste very different from those Tambun Biscuits from Penang which also have Mung Bean Paste as the fillings. The pastry skin of these biscuits from Ipoh taste like the pastry skin of traditional moon cakes.
My friend told me about these mooncakes from a traditional biscuit shop in Ipoh being sold in KL so I bought a selection to try. These 4 pieces I selected cost a total of MYR98.20 nett. The Walnut Mooncake and BBQ Meat Lotus Egg Yolk Mooncake costs MYR23.80 nett each. The Mixed Nut Mooncake costs MYR28.80 nett and the Teochew Walnut Mooncake cost MYR21.80 nett.
If you are in Perak, this is a place you should try at least once and a worth while detour.
If Gunung Rapat is famous for anything, it has to be Heong Peah (Heong Peng) – literally translated to fragrant biscuits. These round and flaky pastries are filled with a sweet and chewy malt filling, great as breakfast as well as anytime snacking.
During my last visit to Ipoh I was introduced to a popular local bakery called JJ Roll that specializes in Swiss Rolls and custom order cakes. Looking at the premise they are occupying currently, you wouldn’t have guessed that JJ Roll had a humble beginning as a small kiosk.
At RM0.80/pc, QunKee’s kaya puff is slightly cheaper than Sin Eng Heong’s by 10 cents. As soon as you hold it on your hand, you would notice that the kaya puff’s pastry shell is smooth and airy with a nice gloss. The moment you bite into it, the shell breaks with a satisfying snap that reveals a thick filling of kaya. The mouth feel is totally different from Sin Eng Heong’s crumbly and flaky texture.
It is Kaya puffs that is the most famous product of Khuen Kee. My Auntie Tum alone bought 40 pieces to take back with her to KL. According to her and many of my relatives, the kaya puffs are really delicious. Don't ask me as I don't eat them because they use lard to make the puffs.
Overall, its not bad at all.
Their egg tarts are reasonably priced and we are loving them so much!
The egg tarts were delicious, buttery and flaky with a silky egg custard. We also loved the cheese egg tart that the staff recommended (top layer cheese, bottom layer egg custard so it has a richer taste compared to the normal egg tart), and decided to go back to get more before heading back to KL. Even the chocolate balls were yummy - they're like chocolate fudge cake, I especially like them when they're still chilled.
Reasons to visit Little Allegra Bakery, Ipoh: cosy neighbourhood café with inspiring artistic touches; excellent baked goods; Padre Coffee.
怡保是出名许多美食但其实抽空来这里叹下茶吃个蛋糕享受一片宁静也是不错的选择呀价钱是有点偏贵在怡保消费来比的话偶尔一次和三五知己来叹茶还是个不错的选择
Even the interior design is really classy, i feel comfortable dining here. This place makes me feels like home, really nice .. !
很适合朋友聚会还有约会, 在这里拍出来的照片都很美!
We had a few pieces on the spot and all I can say is that they are delicious especially when they are still warm. There’s a good amount of egg custard in every piece and fills up almost 90% of the shell. The sweetness of the rich and almost molten custard is just spot on and you can clearly smell and taste the buttery aroma. Other specialties to try: Swiss Roll, coconut tarts, walnut cookies and Sachima (萨其马). Come as early as possible to avoid disappointments.
Hong Kee Confectionery egg tarts are made fresh everyday. We were told that he woke up at 3.00am every morning to prepare and bake everything before opening his stall at Kedai Kopi Weng Seng at about 7.00am to 7.30am everyday, except on Fridays. His egg tarts is very popular among the locals and will finish selling before 12.00pm everyday.
The Coconut Tart was the most interesting and not like any tart I’ve had before. If you prefer the velvety egg custard texture, this isn’t for you. The familiar pie-like crust is back, but the middle was really dense and chewy like a macaroon. The sweet coconut filling is moist, so there were minimal crumbs that fell off while taking bites.
To eat this biscuit hot right out the oven is the best, especially over a cup of chinese tea!
While I was chatting, I found out that Artisan Handmade Bread will be opening its own first outlet soon! It’ll be located around the area as well at Jalan Market Ipoh Old Town (not too far from Plan B). If I’m not mistaken, it’ll be at the same row with Everyday Lifeshop. I can’t wait! If you fancy delicious handmade bread, be sure to drop by when it’s opened!
This shop sells surprisingly good taro chiffon cake, still nice after kept in fridge for a few days.
All in all, it is an “Instagrammable cafe” with pretty good desserts and beverages. The cakes, pink tables and chairs and warm service is commendable. I appreciate that real milk and real fruits are used instead of syrups.
