Narrow Marrow had been on our list for some time, and it truly did not disappoint when we finally visited it during this Penang trip. It’s definitely one of our favourite cafes in Penang.
Narrow Marrow is now open in Beach Street as of 30th July 2020.
There is the dirty bourbon tiramisu, and the kahlua tiramisu. The latter with the kahlua coffee-flavored liqueur leaves one with a feeling of contentment
Here's the location.
Reasons to visit Norm Café: excellent coffee; waffles (try the Citrus Passion); cheery Instagrammable setting; well-balanced craft cocktails; friendly service team.
So probably got to be patient or wait out few months to try. But the food really does not disappoints,
Penang is a modern looking cafe with comfortable seating place.
The Unagi Tama Don was probably the only dish we could agree upon but the classic combo of Unagi with Japanese-styled Egg rice bowl was pretty much standard-average... well, at least we managed to get what we were paying for.
Overall, the breakfast sets here are affordable and portion is generous. The specialty here is their lamb sausages. Parking is a concern as there there are not many parking slots surrounding this cafe.
Another proud creation by Pallet Garden Cafe- Turmeric Chicken Diao Diao Mee... deep fried Turmeric-marinated Chicken served with instant noodles-like noodles. But according to the proprietor, the noodles were custom-made and were different from the ordinary ones. True enough, the noodles were not oily and worked perfectly well with the home-made Chili paste. All in all, we were pretty pleased with the food quality here.
The pork lard rice is very addictive on its own. It is simple plain rice topped with soy sauce, garlic, spa egg and drizzled with pork lard that yield a subtle and nice flavour. Pork Lard Rice was a popular staple for those who live a hard time those days.
These are the chef signature bunz with a twist. Char Siu @ RM 6 is smack with a nice thick slab of char siu and pickled cucumber that give a hint of vineger sourish twist on the caramelise sauce of char siew. Turns out to be quite good as the flavour combination is confuse but a good match.
Hakuna Matata's Cheese Cake was a little gelatinous but the cheesy-element was not discounted. It was creamy and rich, just the way we like. The cookie base was a little too hard to our liking though. To beat the tropical heat, the Passion Fruit Jelly would be a nice choice. The natural acidic of Passion Fruit cuts through the sweetness, making it the perfect thirst quencher. To complete your afternoon, pair it with the zesty Mojito Matata Mocktail.
