Overall a good eat and a recommended one.
Tu Bo Sweei/ Boiled Baby Octopus (Rm 12 for large) is another must-try item in Law Chang Kee. This is a very simple dish by boiling some of their freshly caught baby octopus and topped with some deep fried garlic oil, complemented by their home made chili sauce topped with peanut powder. I was amazed by the crunchiness and freshness of those octopus, they were not over-cooked, just perfect to my liking. Recommended.
Fresh Yummy Fish Balls with your Yong Tau Foo?
I was delighted with Ah Koong's mee pok noodles. I was surprised actually. One of the reasons why I haven't been back to Ah Koong for a decade was because the generic noodles tended to be overcooked and the sauce tasted flat.
Ah Koong Fishball was a regular stopover. My dad and the kids like the comfortable environment and the fried fish cake.
Dining here is nice, the food is tasty and the place is big. Service is a little slow, sometimes its hard to get the waiter's attention as they are busy walking around serving everyone there. This place is always full, so finding place to sit it hard but the food is definitely worth the wait. In terms of price, i feel that it is expensive but since it is a seafood restaurant, it is worth a try.
Cheng Hwa Seafood Porridge is a relatively new member at Nibong Tebal, established few years ago, the place has rapidly garnered an appreciate following. One of the pulling factors is probably the wallet-friendly price points- a bowl of casual-ordinary Fish Porridge is only priced at Rm 6. Diners have the options to dine-in or sit at the al-fresco area, overlooking the serene-quiet neighborhood of Nibong Tebal while feasting on the freshest catch of the day. The menu comprises of Porridge and Noodles as well as some classic Chinese Seafood dishes is suitable for all range of diners- from young to aged, making it one of the well-received Seafood restaurants in the vicinity. Cheng Hwa Seafood Porridge can be found at the end of Jalan Atas, a stone's throw away from Law Chang Kee.
Dining at 7 Village Noodle House is nice, their service is good and food serving is fast but the only thing that i wish is for their food serving size to be bigger, haha !
Though well-hidden at a secluded corner of Nibong Tebal, Lim Aik Chew is a long-unearthed hidden gem, the place is known through words of mouth and in recent years, the rise of social media. The place is near to Sungai Udang, a fishing village near the river mouth of the Kerian River. Geographically near to the source of supplies, Lim Aik Chew churns out both fresh River produce and Seafood daily but the most notable dish is their Fresh Water Curry Prawns, served with bread. It does not have a big menu but the regular patrons just know what to order, the friendly proprietor would be able to recommend a few otherwise (usually the signature Curry Prawns and a Deep Fried Fish slathered with home-made sauce). One important to note: do make sure you make a call to Lim Aik Chew before your visit, it closes randomly in a month and we've only managed to dine-in after 2 failed attempts.
I feel that their food here is slightly pricier than other place but i still enjoy the food here as their service is good, environment is good and nice food too.
Kee Teik Jai Tim Sum is Practically the only choice for Yum Cha Style Tim Sum in Southen Nibong Tebal Area, its located practically right on the Border of Penang and Perak. While it may be the only place for Tim Sum, the food here is tasty and they are quite innovative as well. One of their specialty is what i would describe as a Oat coated Sandwich with Pandan Kaya Filling.
We started with Fish Maw and Glass Noodle Soup, a savory, starchy soup with Glass Noodles and plenty of Fish Maw... lightly seasoned and best served with Black Vinegar. The consistency was perfect and they were very generous with the ingredients
Everything here felt very local, giving you that home old school kinda feeling when dining in here. This place look new, not sure if it is newly open. The food price here is reasonable.
My favorite food here is their Tomyam Noodle, it is not very spicy but has a very strong Tomyam taste. T
Food here is cheap and tasty, especially their Grass Jelly and Wantan Noodles
Wei Chean Restoran is the upcoming hidden gem located in the countryside of Nibong Tebal. The Chef himself is Wei Chean and he has just moved back from KL to his hometown to continue his culinary journey. Specializing in Cantonese and Asian-style cooking, Wei Chean made the dishes mostly from scratch. From the sauce of steamed fish and also the Homemade Tofu. The deep-fried Hor Fun is al so only in Nibong Tebal at this moment.
We wanted to try their noodle dish and were recommended their Stir Fried Udon with Black Pepper. It was a beautifully done dish- imbued with strong wok hei and the texture was amazing. The noodles maintained the springy texture and the Black Pepper flavor did not overwhelm the dish; best of all, not greasy at all.
Fei Fei Crab offers other seafood / zi char type dishes besides their signature crabs. I normally go for their prime rib, vegetable and tofu dishes.
