What do We Like about Purple Cane Tea Cuisine, The Gardens Mall? -Tea infused soup served in a tea pot and drink with tea cup -Variety of set meals to choose from
One of the signature for the restaurant is this Black Tea Curry Lions Mane Mushrooms. The curry is not too thick, yet you would easily need to bowl of rice for this. So easy to eat, super mild spicy with mild creamy. Instead of santan the replace it with Almond milk.
This looks nice doesn't it? It even has two large pieces of Huai Shan (淮山 - wild yam) which I thought was daikon until I bite into them.
The Hi-Tea Dim Sum set is available on weekdays (excluding Public Holidays) from 2pm to 4pm and includes delicate handmade dim sum and a delicious Bird's Nest dessert. Priced at RM98 for 2 pax, the set also comes with your choice of two drinks (choice of juice, soft drinks, coffee or tea).
Crab with glorious roe, aptly named Steamin Crabilicious. Priced at RM108 per portion, this plate of decadence is a must have. Marine drippings over a layer of chicken pate with salted fish, (replacing the usual pork) glutinous rice, this alone would have filled us up.
Flower Pillow Matcha (MYR 38) Matcha Infused Tofu With Caviar, Salmon Roe And Fragrant Oats. You just can't go wrong with this! The hint of subtle green tea flavour is well complimented by the ikura especially, that helps to inject some oceanic nuance to it that at one point of time, it tastes almost similar to seaweed flavour to me. Impressive? Call it magic by Yu by Ruyi then! (=
Congee with two dishes from Category B - choy sum and two braised hard boiled egg at MYR 11.90++ (MYR 13.209 nett). I will always order congee here because I like this type of congee instead of those very smooth congee. Braised hard boiled eggs are a must for me.
这里的食物好吃有大份,重点价钱不贵
虽说此店以猪食为主,可也有卖非猪肉食物,如泰式鸡扒,也很美味哦。
Beef tendon wanton noodles in soup with extra beef stew gravy. Two sui gao are underneath the noodles. I ate one sui gao and can taste the peanut taste in it as mentioned in the menu that peanut is used in the fillings of the sui gao. Tasty!
The braised beef briskets and tendons look messy but taste fine. We could not finish them so we took the balance home in our own container.
这里的食物以牛肉鲜虾云吞为主.
Deep fried mackerel. I find the pieces of fish to be quite thin.
The yam paste is very thick and soft so I like it. The duck meat sandwiched inside the yam paste does not have a strong duck taste so my friend finds the taste of this dish to be boring with no kick to it but I like the mellow flavour. A small clove found its way into my mouth and the clove taste lingers on.
trotter jelly dish MYR15.90++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR18.44 nett). The jelly is not those wobbly type but is quite solid in texture and is filled with pieces of pork rind. Initially I was afraid that the porky taste would be too strong so I was pleased when it wasn't and when I ate it with the chili paste on top, the chili covered all the porky taste so it was delicious. Furthermore it was not cold so customers who are not used to eating cold savoury dish could eat this dish without any issues.
This time, I ordered a basket of 10 Xiao Long Bao and gave 3 to my friend who ordered a bowl of plain white rice and Ginseng Chicken Soup.
This is the plate of crunchy cucumber - if I remember correctly there are 10 pieces so it is about MYR 1.219 nett per piece. My friend likes to eat them so I agree to share the cost with her. They have been marinated in very light soy sauce. The two saucers of julienned gingers are provided foc once customers are seated at the table, even before orders are placed.
6 xiao long bao at MYR 14.5+ (MYR 15.37 nett). It is better value for money to buy the 10 xiao long bao at MYR 23.20+ (MYR 24.60 nett) but we did not want to eat that many bao since it was only two of us so we settled for 6 instead.
Dim Sum at The Han Room might be slightly expensive but it is worth the visit. We definitely come back for more dim sum for sure.
Serving varieties of dishes inspired by Chinese Cuisine History with influences of global trends and flavors. Another great spot for dim sum lovers.
Early morning at 10 am, we wanted to eat at the newly renovated Sushi Zanmai at the Gardens Mall but there were only two chefs working and no waiting staff to be seen so we did not go enter the restaurant because the ambiance was not friendly at all. We ended up having dim sum at The Han Room which is located near to Sushi Zanmai. Dim sum is served in The Han Room on Sunday and public holidays only. The waiting staff will push a cart with hot dim sum steaming away in bamboo baskets to your table for you to take your pick. There is also a menu for food items not served by the cart and you can order from that menu too.
The kids couldn't get enough of the Cheese-baked rice with chicken cutlet (RM22.80) - we love the cheese, so rich and good, they said! The chicken cutlet, which is similar to chicken katsu was moist and juicy with a nice golden, crispy exterior.
So for those of you who would like to have some different cuisines, try some of these yunmy Hong Kong cuisine at EATZ@HongKong… You won’t regret it.. It is seriously somewhere I will go back to for more…
Mala Spicy Fishball in Dry Noodle (RN15.80) – Dry Nissin Noodle with Mala Spicy Fishball which I enjoyed a lot with a side of steamed vegetables.
This is a plate of slices of braised pigs' ear/s because I do not know how many ears are in this plate. That does sound awful doesn't it, to be eating ears. I tried a slice, it was crunchy but soft on the outside and the taste is of the gravy it was braised in so I believe people eat pigs' ears for the texture and not the taste.
The rice with beef brisket and white radish at MYR 15.85++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 18.39 nett) is tasty. There are 2 pieces of beef briskets, 1 piece of beef tendon, 3 pieces of white radish, 2 pieces of nai pak vege and lots of rice - the rice grains are plump and fleshy.
整体来说我算满意这里的食物,价钱较贵,我一个人这样吃下来要大概~RM30,饮料扣分。
Wanton noodles with braised beef and a bowl of wanton noodles with char siew and siew yuk. The char siew has a nice coconut caramelized taste.
So we went to Canton-i and ordered the above food for two pax. Needless to say I was stuffed to the brim.
Prawns Wanton Noodle (Soup) at MYR 15.09++ (MYR 17.50 nett). Thin and springy noodles in flavourful soup. Looking back at the price of Sheng Kee prawns wanton noodle (soup) back in 2017, I am surprised to find that it is almost the same which means this price is not high after all.
The star of this lunch - deep fried grouper fish at MYR 120.80+ (MYR 132.88 nett). Luckily we requested for the sauce to be served separately because we do not like the crispy fish to be wet and drenched in sauce. When we ordered this dish, the server informed us that a fish weighs about 800g (price is MYR 8 per 50g) and we were ok with it. The fish is very crispy and fresh so we ate everything including the head but leaving the main back bone.
Ordered the salted egg yolk prawns dish again because I think this is the prawn dish that I have been looking for. Price is the same as before at MYR 38+ (MYR 41.80 nett) and serving size is the same too - 10 prawns.
Salted Egg Yolk Prawns - MYR 38+ (MYR 41.80 nett) for 10 prawns in this 1 serving. I ate 4 prawns and I think I may have found my favourite prawn dish after searching for so long. Dragon-i and Canton-i restaurants are under the same parent organisation and this dish is on both their menu but the cooking style is very different.
I accompany my friends who wanted to eat lunch at Kim Gary, Midvalley Mall. I ordered a set lunch of beef steak pasta with black pepper sauce at MYR 14.90+ (10% service tax = MYR 16.40 nett) which included soup and drink. I kept half of the pasta for dinner but ate all the steak as the beef steak is just two thin slices of beef marinated in black pepper sauce. I left most of the sauce uneaten.
When we walked out of the restaurant, we noticed that there was a long queue waiting to get in as always. I think there is always a long queue because the price for the sets is quite good and there are many lunch set choices but as the food is too flavouful for me, I seldom eat here unless my friends wanted to have their meals here.
A nourishing bowl of double-boiled papaya with Tremella will be good if you are looking for a warm dessert.
Chicken sam sou soup. Dine-in 16 on Wednesday 16 Sep 2020 d183.
The ribs are well marinated with herbs so they are delicious without any oink oink taste.
We ordered the pork chop rice lunch set which includes the main meal, a drink and a side dish which turned out to be ladyfingers. The sauce for the pork chop is sweet marmite which I like. I was surprised to see fries served with rice so I ate the fries while my spouse ate the rice
Zun express at Midvalley Mall. CNY set lunch for 2 pax at MYR 56.80++ (MYR 65.57 nett). Add 2 hard boiled eggs for MYR 1.20++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 1.40 nett) each.
What do We Like about Village Roast Duck? -Tasty signature roast duck and sinchew mee hoon
Revisit Zuk Noodle House at Midvalley Mall to try the Pork Belly Noodle with wine at MYR 15.50 nett. The wine taste is barely noticeable so we won't be ordering it again.
Fresh prawns wanton noodles - MYR 14.20 nett. There are 4 big prawn wantons. The noodles are springy wanton noodles that smell of "kan sui" (枧水, jian shui) but taste ok. As I do not drink the broth, I did not have much expectations for it but my friend says that the broth needs to be improved because nothing stands out in regards to its taste and it could not stand on its own as a soup.
I ordered the same noodle as during my previous visit to the One Utama branch - Grouper Fish Slices Mi Xian (Thick Mee Hoon) MYR16+ (MYR17.60 nett). Taste just as good as before.
Although Reminisce might be not stand out among all the cafes at Mid Valley, but the memory and the food you eat at Reminisce are definitely worth the visit! Definitely will visit here again as I already miss all of the food already. Please feel free to visit Reminisce to time travel back to childhood.
Reminisce Café provides a relaxing and homey oasis for patrons to seek respite after a tiring day, be it working or shopping at the mall. If to choose my favourite pick, it would have to be the luscious 奶油豬仔飯, butter pork belly! And what’s for your palate?
Starting from RM14.90, Reminisce’s set lunch is available between 11am and 5pm daily. There are 40 different choices and every set comes with a cold drink and dessert of the day.
This new eatery at the Midvalley Mall is similar to the eatery that Claire mentioned in her post here.
Siu Yuk stirfried with vege at MYR 17+ (6% sst = MYR 18.02 nett).
Chocolate ice cream topped with bits of bacon and a drizzle of Baileys - MYR 15 nett at Thai Hou Sek, Midvalley Mall but it is no longer on the menu because they revamped their menu recently.
Roasted Pork Belly Petai Stir Fried Bihun at MYR 20.75+ (6% SST = MYR 22 nett). Very flavourful dish. I like the petai. Portion is not enough for a big eater I believe.
