Compared to similar eateries in the vicinity, Golden Bowl Cafetiam is priced reasonably affordable.
I must say that i really like Golden Bowl Cafetiam may it be the one at Batu Lanchang or the one at The Promenade.
I pretty love the Imitation Fin Soup serving here because it does not too thick and the saltiness is perfectly suited my liking.
Here's the location.
Canning Dim Sum Express is now open for Dine in again, so you may have your favorite dim sum comfortably inside of Canning Dim Sum Express again and what is more awesome is that they are now certified HALAL.
Canning Dim Sum
The ambiance of the restaurant makes it a really good spot for catching up with friends and family.
These restaurants inherited the traditional pan mee recipe that passed down by their granny. The pan mee served here are home made and insisted to be hand cut rather machine. The taste of the PanMee are flavorful and delicious
Overall the food here, i would say is just average, nothing special to shout about but i like dining here because their food is acceptable, environment is comfortable and service is good.
Every bowl of Pan Mee here is enjoyable thanks to fresh ingredients. You can taste it on your own, the al-dente noodles with unique texture, and coupled with all sorts of ingredients make the Pan Mee a comfort food to have during lunch or dinner.
The pot was stir fried with ginger, peanuts, onions and garlic to give it a nice taste. Dried chilies were prominent in our pot as we picked the mild level of spiciness, though it was alright still in the heat produced (Chongqing spiciness should be insanely hot we believe). Overall it was a great pot to enjoy!
The Mala Hotpot was alright either... it possessed the quintessential Mala flavor with reasonable saltiness. It was good that it was not overly seasoned and drowned in oil... the overall flavor combo was of satisfactory.
Restaurant Lye Lee, The One, Bayan Baru
Both dry and soup versions were almost identical, save for the former one was dressed with dark soy sauce. Inderawasih's pork broth carried bold meaty flavor, in which some may find it overly heavy. Each bowl of Koay Teow Th'ng will be served with Fish Balls, Egg, minced Pork and a couple of Shrimps. We disliked the fact that the Egg was overly boiled, we would prefer the whole, runny Egg. Overall, we thought the porky notes were too bold to our liking.
The Koay Teow Soup is served in 3 sizes, namely small (RM 7.50), medium (RM 9), large (RM 10.50) that has egg and prawns added for medium and large size. If you do not mind splurging, consider adding minced pork as it is real delicious.
We had Xiao Er's Laksa Special... which comes with an Egg, Fish Balls and chunks of Fish Meat. The broth had a balanced medley of sweet, sour, spicy and savory notes... every element was subtle but discernible. One plus point about the Laksa- the noodles were expertly cooked... a little springy and not overly slouchy. The combination was very satisfying.
To present a homely Nyonya atmosphere, the dining area is decorated with classic Nyonya ornaments such as traditional attire, porcelain ware and tiffin carriers.
While both Penang and Malacca are known to have Peranakan descendants, the culture can be totally different and that... includes the food too. It's quite uncommon for Peranakan restaurants to serve Malaccan-Peranakan food but this newly opened Peranakan Passion has decided to take a leap of faith. Flip the menu and you will notice quite a few Peranakan dishes that are not common to Penang (otherwise in Malacca)- Ayam Pongteh, Ayam Buah Keluah, Itik Tim etc; the second thing that might strike you would be the price points.... a little higher than usual. But the air-conditioned cafe has a decent setup- comfortable and homey, with some Peranakan elements adorning the walls. We have managed to try a few signature dishes on our visit; while we could not find any fault with the dishes, we did not think they were impressive... probably we have got accustomed to the local Penang Peranakan flavors.
Overall food here is just average, service is good, clean and comfortable for dine in too.
Kampung Jawa, Bayan Lepas is the place you can have a few of Penang's delightful hawker food in one shot. The Hokkien Mee at Top Taste Cafe is one of the catchy penang food that not to be missed
The Crispy Noodles with Dragon Tiger Grouper and Prawns was better as compared to the earlier dish, the gravy was beautifully cooked; when eaten with their Sambal, the combo was amazing
Environment here is simple and the food served here is simple too.
Overall, the food taste is acceptable and the pricing is pretty reasonable.
The food serving portion is just average and the price is reasonable.
One of their signature dishes- Sesame Oil Chicken was pretty good... tenderly cooked Chicken Thigh topped with crisp Ginger floss; the Sesame Oil flavor was bold and the dish was expertly seasoned. It would be a dish that goes perfectly well with Rice
While the Bee Hoon clear soup was enjoyable with the light taste, the tomyam soup immensely rich and thick. As a matter of fact, it was thicken to the extent we barely have much soup to drink toward the end of the meal as most of it has been absorbed by the noodle. Nevertheless, the soup was fiery hot and much suitable for us who enjoy the heat component.
